Electric exhaust cutout to a straight pipe opening up behind a front wheel opening, while you're working on the exhaust. Nobody will mistake it for a Civic.

I put a 91 column in my 87 and it went pretty smoothly. By doing the switch, I gained the option for intermittent wipers. Still have the old column with matching keys, should anyone want it (for an anchor).

Still have 20+ years on a 30 year mortgage. In the current market, it'd never sell or get close to breaking even... have to sit it out.

Jeeze I wish I didn't live so far away. I have one u-pull it salvage yard to choose from in these parts, and I haven't seen an MJ in there in over a year.

Decal and graphics removal tip
AMCJeepMJ replied to Kenbob's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
An eraser wheel for a handheld drill is all you need. Worked great on removing my decals- even took the ancient adhesive right off. A quick once-over with Goof-Off or Goo-Gone and you'd never know there was ever decals there. -
It was a toasty 55 here for mid-January; all the snow from before Christmas finally has melted at lower elevations (below 3500'). Installed a 2nd back up light under the rear bumper on the passenger side.

Very very similar, but I have my doubts til they're shown doing constant repair on it.

What or who just turned 19? Are we talking years, miles in thousands, or vampires? If its vampires, then I'm impressed.

cheapest way for small lift?
AMCJeepMJ replied to MJ86YJ90's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Why do you want bigger wheels? Planning on some chrome 22" spinners? Blingedy blang, yo. ;) I believe tires is what you are looking for. Here's what I run on my 2wd, and it gives the appearance of a stock 4wd: a 1" rocky road comanche budget lift. The kit has 1" coil spacers and 1.5" cherokee shackles for the rear leaf springs. I also only run 235/75 15s, so not to tax the D35 too much. The kit runs around 100 bucks and takes an hour or two with a buddy, even if you don't know what you're doing. Be sure to pick up new spring insulators to go between the spring and the lift spacer, as the old factory one is most likely spongecake by now. -
Without a place to put a license plate and its illumination to prevent being pulled over at night, I'm out. Looks nice though.

Put it on craigslist and ask for a 'rehoming' fee if its still alive by the time the new owner comes to pick it up.

If it looks like anything like this, me likey. sorry in advance if the image goes casters up.

Jeeze my intarweb goes down for a week and I miss a thread like this?!? Bah! I'm glad he's aboard and look forward to another great season beating up the Yankees.

I have an insulated/drywalled north-facing attached extended garage with no windows, with an insulated windowless garage door. Its still freakin' cold in there in the winter... and dark.

I'd be in for a set of Chief hood decals. -
Cup Holder for XJ/MJ console
AMCJeepMJ replied to 1987Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I use one of these wedged in the notch in the bench seat. Works great except for super-tall cups which get in the way of reverse. http://www.amazon.com/Bell-CO51-Octopus-Cup-Holder/dp/B000FW2MC2 Even has enough room in it to hold a handful of small screws or bolts while a cup is in it. I've had an assortment of screws in mine for months with no problem. Makes a handy cellphone/tobacco/receipt/whatever holder when not in use with a beverage. -
what is the better header for a 2.5
AMCJeepMJ replied to cz777's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've seen 2.5 Mopar performance cams, but as stated above the payoff is not worth the expenditure. -
Put another bag of sand in the bed (up to three now) for better traction from a stop when driving on ice.

87 2.5 4x2 DD from Sep-May (LeSabre has no working heat). Usual drive is 40 mile round trip, five days a week. Longest single drive in one day was from home to Salem and back- 270 miles, most of it twisty and steep (for a highway) mountain driving til I hit the valley... its bad when I'm being passed by a 15 year old Kia on an uphill on Santiam pass. Taking off the KC light bar adds 5mpg and lowers wind resistance quite a bit. I have never driven it out of state since I purchased it in 07... never had a need to.

Socks. Electric staple gun. Fleece pullover. Hot Wheels DeLorean and a Hot Wheels 458 Italia.

Your rusted muffler looks to be the same condition (and probably sounds as bad) as the one I replaced this past winter. Any muffler shop should only charge 50-80 bucks for a quiet muffler. The one I got was 70 installed and came from a cadillac or suburban or something like that with a v8- i wanted quiet and that's what I have now... quiet.

Got a Deer with my Comanche!!!
AMCJeepMJ replied to Shane's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
:agree: So after several days, and in this technologically advanced age of cell cameras, a pic or twelve of the carnage hasn't been posted yet? Oh man  I am sorry, but I have been a little busy working and providing for my family. Do not worry next chance I get to take pics of the carnage, instead of being an attentive father, I will do so. Have no fear ny priorities are in order. Hey, thanks for being a jerk about it. Wow you must be father of the year spending every waking second hovering over your kids or working your fingers to the bone. My hero. If you don't want people being curious about what it looks like, then don't go 'hey everybody! i hit a deer' and not expect it. Go get some fresh air. -

Wanting to fix up truck need Ideas !!!!!!!
AMCJeepMJ replied to littlezeeker's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Guess I could have given the perfect answer like this. It all sounds very familiar(2times). A trip to the pull a part is in order and let the fun begin. Some of the first things I got: visors, visor clips, window cranks, clock, door panels, wiper modules, jack, jack crank, tire iron with flat end(for spare carrier) just a bunch of little things that are missing or neglected. And, should you run across a set of half-decent tail lights at the local salvage yard, hold on to em for spares- there are no replacement lenses being made.
