No complaints about RR service or shipping speed. Have their 1" lift kit (spacers and shackles) and they seem to do their job. Only complaint is the grease fitting broke right off a shackle after install. I do recommend new rear leaf bushings if putting on their lift shackle, as there's a bit of play in it with a stock bushing. Had to put in washers as spacers.

Looked at it in the garage, not wanting to clean out the bed of all the crap that's in it. Maybe this weekend I'll get off my rear to do it.

Jeeze all these great stories. I just stumbled across mine on the local CL and went to take a look at it. Found it in pretty much the same condition as its in now- big dent in side, bad paint, dirty interior, and pink pinstripes. Didn't have the 400 they were asking, so put half down to hold it, came back a few days later with the rest. Found what looked like seeds and stems under the seat while cleaning it the first weekend.

Hey nice link to the touch up paint for paint codes. I've been trying to figure out what the color name for my Buick was, and now I know (even though I should have guessed)! -Comanche - Beige -LeSabre - Dark Cherry Metallic -Escape - Vermillion Red Neat link.

My Manche was bought new in Bend OR in 86, purchased by me used in 07 in Bend OR, and it currently resides in my garage- only 18 miles from where it was bought new. The only proof I have that its ever been out of state is it has a Ellsworth AFB sticker that expired in 06 on the front window. Still.

I'm going the more mundane route (if they're even considered 'mods'): 1: canopy for the bed (keeps my crap in the bed out of the rain/snow) 2: gutter mount light bar with KCs (to blind oncoming traffic... uh, I mean for those dark, dark, deer-laden roads around here) 3: bedliner (so I hear the bed's contents sliding about)

Replaced the driver's side seatbelt with an XJ belt and mechanism. Had to do some sawzalling of the bulkhead to get it to fit. On an unrelated note, almost broadsided some dumbass highschool kid in a POS 80s Subaru tonight who rolled thru a stop to do a left turn in front of me. I am glad my waterbed LeSabre has ABS and is in good repair, as there was only about 2 feet between the cars by the time I stopped. Deer in headlights, the kids was. I'm sure he had to change his drawers after his lapse of judgement.

Its usually the Dr Mario theme from the original NES that gets me.

Parked in the garage it until I replace the drivers' seat belt.

Of all stupid things to break
AMCJeepMJ replied to AMCJeepMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Great; thanks! -
Drivers' seat belt no longer retracts and has worked itself over time to be completely unspooled in the b-pillar. It now falls out the door when exiting the vehicle. :fs1: Therefore: Will an XJ 4-door seatbelt work as a replacement? If not, any suggestions for a bolt-in replacement?

Which states/countries have you visited in your MJ?
AMCJeepMJ replied to beepbeepmyredjeep's topic in The Pub
Oregon. Haven't taken it out of state *yet*. It's been to South Dakota with the previous owner according to the expired in 2006 Ellsworth AFB sticker on the front window that I haven't bothered to remove. -
Parked it IN THE GARAGE! First time it's been in one after owning it since 2007.

Filled the tank, took it to work, and then to the DMV on the way home to pick up some snazzy new retro-60s themed Pacific Wonderland license plates for the Buick. Lookie like this 'un: Limited run of only 40k statewide, and when they're gone they're gone.

Moved it behind the Escape so I could get the Accord (that I never drive and has been sitting in the garage for almost two years with only 44 miles put on it during that time) out of the garage to sell. It sold after being listed on local CL for only 17 hours at $1400. Now I'm down to only three vehicles for the first time in many years. 90 Aerostar went last week, and the 93 Accord went today. $2400 to make the next two and a half months worth of mortgage.

Dep't of the Interior and Forest Service used to have 'Institutional Green' which is similar to the sickly light green you describe.

There's various locations throughout the year that they have the Challenge at. Just so happened the stars aligned right to pull this trip off. The Challenge is a good chance to go check out some some racing, and some Ferraris as the local dealerships usually have some there and people who come to watch drive their Ferraris there too. According to https://secure.ferrarichallenge.com/series/schedule there's one coming up in 2 weeks at Sears Point/Infineon CA and then one at the Canadian GP and two in NJ/NY. A few more pics... More pics as I upload them from the camera and host em.

Flew to SLC for the Ferrari Challenge at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele on Apr 10 and 11. FXXs and 599XXs were there and a display of the 458 Italia and 4 Californias. Lots of people showed up on Saturday, but it was so windy and overcast the crowds were light. I had no idea there were so many Ferraris in Utah. Those 599XXs and FXXs are crazy loud, but in a good V12 way. Some pics: 430 Challenge cars... 458 Italia: 599XX: California: Parked cars at the Ferrari Corral: FXX:

Bench seat cover? where to find one
AMCJeepMJ replied to one_bad_MJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've seen compact truck bench seat covers, but none with the shifter notch. If someone finds one that fits well, I'd like to know where to get it. My beige bench is guh-ross after 23 years (I didn't do it!). -
Wired up my under-bumper flood reverse light to a switch on the dash. Used an old KC light wire that splits in case I get motivated to put in a second light.

No. The 4 speed and 5 speed behind the 2.5 is geared the same. The AX-4 is identical to the AX-5 in every aspect, except for missing the 5th gear. 5 speeds got 4.10 axle gearing, 4 speeds got 3.55, so that the final drive in the highest gear would be about the same. AX-4/5 gearing: 1 = 3.93:1 2 = 2.33:1 3 = 1.45:1 4 = 1.00:1 5 = 0.85:1 R = 4.74:1 Final drive works out to.. AX-4 = 1.00 x 3.55 = 3.55:1 AX-5 = 0.85 x 4.10 = 3.49:1 Changing transmissions will not affect your speedometer... changing axles will. All putting an AX-5 in place of an AX-4 will do is give you an extra gear, that's essentially useless unless you're doing 70+ on somewhat level ground. I know, I have one. Besides, changing out a speedo gear is very easy. Aha. Thank you for the clarification.

I picked mine up almost on a whim back in 2007. It was a local CL find. I needed a small pickup and ran across it. I said to myself: Jeep? Pickup? Hmm interesting, I hadn't considered one before... $440 later and it was mine. Taken early 2008 in nearly the condition I picked it up in: Now, I've added a light bar, KCs, Mopar bug deflector, KC amber foglights, rear floodlight, a passenger mirror, a 1" Rocky Road lift, black headlight bezels and grille, headlight stone guards, different wheels, and on my second canopy for the bed. Now its current state:

So wait- If i want to move from a 4 speed row-your-own to a 5 speed on my 87 2.5, I'd have to change axles from a 3.55 to a 4.11 to keep the speedo relatively accurate? I only thought of changing trannys yesterday whilst driving highways through the Cascades; the 4 speed is geared too tall and is dog uphill... I was passed by an old lady in a Hyundai Accent! Maybe its the magic combo of small engine, tall tranny, and tall rear end :dunno:
