  1. On the amber turn signal lenses topic, I ordered a set last Friday, and they were on my doorstep on Wednesday afternoon (fast!) from Morris 4x4. What I did not know about them is they have a black strip along the top of each lens. However, from even a few feet away they aren't very noticible. Factory clear lenses have an indentation or molding mark where the black goes, which I noticed upon removal of the old ones.
  2. Planning to do a little UFO research?
  3. Gave it a day of rest in the driveway, and looked at it as I went to get the mail.
  4. I picked up a set of mesh headlight covers/stoneguards on ebay for 1.99 + shipping last year. Sprayed them satin black to match the grille and bezels. Each cover comes with four thin metal clips to screw into place. Those clips are stiff and not very flexible, and I broke one just putting everything together the first time. Sure, they look neat but they have to be removed/unclipped everytime the headlights need to be cleaned or wiped down.
  5. As someone else said, to each their own. I, personally, think they look like crap. Like ricer trash straight out of the fast and furious. Sorry WB. Listen to 87 warrior, and get the amber like I said in my first post. Don has them, as well as anotherjeff. I'll link the pic when I am not on my phone. The ambers look waaaayyyyy better on our old body front ends, and would look especially good on your white truck. Do the right thing. Rob L. Looks sharp. May have to investigate a set for my rig. Allow me to ask, where was the bumper light bar sourced from?
  6. Thank you for this thread. I received my holiday Quadratec catalog (the one with the stoned Santa on the back cover) a few days ago and saw the QT 'exclusive' floorliners and was considering them. One question about the QT and RR floorliners- do they get in the way or impede travel of the parking brake pedal? Side note- that's some clean carpet you have... mine's stained and threadbare. :(
  7. WOO those are ug-LEE! Well, to each their own, I suppose.
  8. An 80's Oldsmobile is what came to mind for me. I like the two-spoke style over the three spoke for long cruises- just hang your fingers over the spokes, and watch the miles go by.
  9. What's wrong with the tonneau cover (if that's what I'm seeing)? Remember, rollbars add weight and increase drag, decreasing aerodynamics and fuel economy. Those rollbars are cosmentic only and don't acually assist in keeping the cab from crushing in a rollover IIRC. Off.
  10. Is there not some sort of state law being broken by scrapping a vehicle with no title? Did you 'recycle' *wink wink* the VIN tag(s) for another vehicle? (don't answer that please)
  11. I have one of those small propane heaters that attaches to the top of a tank to heat the garage in the winter (2 car, drywalled, insulated, insulated door). I'm leery of using it, but when I do I have the door cracked 4 to 6 inches for air... kind of counterproductive letting in cold air while heating but CO poisoning myself and everyone else in the house doesn't sound like much fun to me.
  12. Don't forget. You don't want to show up to church or brunch or the golf course an hour early and look like a tool first thing on Sunday, now do you? Of course you don't. Arizona residents, please disregard.
  13. Sorry, late to the party- took the family out for chinese.
  14. There's lots of famous-ish things in SF area excluding the bridge that didn't collapse... alcatraz, notoriety of haight/ashbury, 1906 fire, earthquakes interrupting the 89(?)world series, silicon valley, napa valley, the concours at monterey in august, street cars, rice-a-roni (its the san francisco treat!), steep roads (think bullitt car chase), some of the most expensive real estate in the world, and folks who are a little light in the loafers just to name a few.
  15. Those softtoppers are neat looking, but don't they create blind spots? I know I have enough trouble seeing out of the factory mirrors to merge, change lanes, or park as it is... can't exactly glance over your shoulder to look if there's solid canvas. :(
  16. Congrats to SF on the WS win. There's always 2011 for the Rangers to take the pennant. :wavey: Actually, if they just beat the Yankees in the playoffs every time I will be happy.
  17. You mean THIS thread? http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=22332&hilit=canopy
  18. Mounted studded tires 1 day before state law premitted. The wheels look like hell, but its function over form that I'm looking for in a snow wheel.
  19. This was sunday night's mess: 11yr old daughter's: 15yr old daughter's: Mine: The top two are traditional carved with cheapo kit and patterns from Wally World and illuminated by LED cheapo AAA powered lights. Mine was carved from the back, taped, marked, drilled, and had 3 sets of 35 count cheapo xmas lights pushed in from the back of each hole. I did cheapo lights instead of LED strings so I could just toss them after I'm done with it. Lets see yours.
  20. My understanding is the XJ not keep up with federal safety mandates is what led to its discontinuation. Cheaper for Chrysler to whip up a new body than to make the modifications on the old one so Uncle Sam can be happy. And yes, compared to most SUVs on the market it was rather boxy, square, and outdated in apperance. I'd still drive one despite its safety 'shortcomings' compared to modern light trucks and cars. An XJ 4by is on my short list of vehicles for when my girls are old enough to drive (1 year away for one of them), along with another square, the Volvo 240 wagon (had 3 of them and they're grrrrrrrrrrrreat!). A Miata also makes the list.
  21. Yes, I live within range, but do not own a digital converter or television antenna.
  22. Find online somewhere that will show or have a steaming broadcast of the World Series? I have DirecTV and have no 'local' channels (Fox, ABC, etc.). I have been able to watch the playoffs on TBS, but if the WS is Fox-only, where can I watch (without imposing myself at a buddy's place or hang out at a super-lame bar)? Subscription MLB channels are out (I'm trying to do this on the cheap).
  23. I've been wanting to upgrade the headlights for years now. Any suggestions on not just brightness, but on light spread/pattern? I don't want to blind oncoming traffic. I understand the Hella replacement housings with H4 bulbs create a nice spread. Anyone tried these [spendy] ones out? Personal experience with them?
  24. Here's my comments- take em or leave em. First, the bumper looks incomplete (skeleton?) without a plate on either side of the license area to obstruct vision under the bed. Kind of looking up a skirt; nice to sneak a peek everyonce in a while but generally should cover things up. Second, the end caps, I would think, should match the contours of the bed side. The bottom rails are heading in the right direction, but the end caps sweep up a bit much. Finally, is there enough room on the bumper to act as a step? Depth? Other than that, looks pretty alright.
  25. I picked up an eraser pad that looks exactly like the one in the first post the other week at Napa for $14. Works great at removing decals/pinstripes and their adhesive.
