  1. Just wondering, What is the purpose of the football shaped vacuum canister in the pass fender?
  2. I have never heard of retrieving any sort of code from a renix ecu. I am pretty sure that renix ECU doesn't even store any codes like a newer ECU like todays vehicles. I like to think of the Renix ecu as a mouse running circles on one of those wheels. :hateputers:
  3. What year and engine are you talking about?
  4. My local pick n pull sells them for $30 a seat, no matter what condition. They do have around 30 XJs and 4 MJs so there is a good amount to pick from.
  5. You can swap in a XJ column or replace the stalk in your column.
  6. There is a black box you need that is located under the DS dash where your knees would be. All you do is simply unplug the wire harness from the column and plug this box in.
  7. This is 1800lbs in a non metric ton.
  8. You are posting in the wrong section. This should be in the Tech section, and you should have a NP231 or 242.
  9. Do you drive your MJ daily? Has it ever left you stranded before? Only thing that ever left me stranded was a starter, quick hit with a ratchet strap I had got her going again. I once drove from New York city to Gettysburg, PA with a DW!
  10. When I drive in the snow I like to have around 200lbs in the bed for better traction, and that wouldn't be good with no shocks.
  11. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Reese-Towpower-Portable-Electric-Winch/15125839 Here ya go! LOL I saw this at the store the other day while I was picking up a new light for my trailer.
  12. Drove mine 450 miles from MA to MD with my 5x8 trailer.
  13. Only reason I have not asked pete for any cards is all the MJ owners I run into are about 75yo and highly doubt they can use the CC. :D
  14. My black MJ once stripped of all good parts is not worth restoring. There is no rockers or cab corners and the bed is shot. This truck is from Boston,MA and has seen a good share of salt. :ack: I'm starting work on the 88 tomorrow again, get the motor ready to pull, grind down the floors and see whats left.
  15. I talked to this guy and it has 3.55s but it also has a million miles on it. I was gonna pick it up seeing as how it is so cheap but he was 2 hours away.
  16. You will only need two power wires, 1 for constant batt power(saves presets/clock) and 1 switched power that turns radio on when car is started. The blue wire is a remote power that turns on an amp if you install one. You can use a test light to determine which wire is which in the truck for power. Go to crutchfield and see their wiring diagrams also. Your black is ground, yellow is constant (batt)power, red is switched and blue is not used unless you have an amp.
  17. jpnjim do you do all your MJ work at your house in Boston? I am from Walpole, MA.
  18. :agree: with you pilotblake, I wouldn't think they would be a very good tread for 35" size. If you want to go with a 31" or stock I think they are great for what the OP needs.
  19. You can push the fork over to the "locked" position on the axle and then simply cap the vacuum lines with plugs. As long as you have the lines on the VD capped the fork cannot move. Edit: Your dash light will no longer work though so If you want it to work you will need to keep it stock.
  20. I ran my 89 MJ with no cat and a stock muffler for about 6 months. It sounds exactly the same with the new cat on it but there was a noticeable difference in performance. So I say leave the cat on there.
  21. I have a set of BFG A/T on my 89 and I love them. They are great in the snow, rain, ice, and mud. I think they are a great jack of all trades.
  22. :rotf:
  23. Why is right!? Doesn't even look bad at all. I scrap a Jeep after I have stripped it of everything I could possibly need and then some.
  24. What was your first Jeep?
