  1. Sent it to a place in FL to be bored. http://www.summitoffroad.net/ $175 includes complete bore, new piston and gasket kit.
  2. I love Jeeps and I love my MJ but I have to agree with OP. My 89 Mj and my fathers 89 MJ are in constant need of repair and he has over 9k invested in his. I have owned several 80s camaros, firebirds, TAs that I took on 1000 mile round trips and barely ever required repair. But like you all say there is a disease called Jeep and I got it!
  3. The poster was in a bad car accident and is not parting his truck right now. If you would look at my last post you can see.
  4. No wife for me Hornbrod! (I'm only 21) I have had around 1500lbs in the back and towed my 5x8 trailer with metal on it too.
  5. 1,860 pounds today! This is one tough little truck.
  6. Bigbike look here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=26537
  7. OO and I have another load in it now for scrapping in the morning, looks to be a little heavier.
  8. 1,680 pounds of raw steel plate scrap! Have a lift on this MJ too.
  9. I understand, but the cylinder is really scored and they may have to bore it larger than the next size up or I might need a new sleeve.
  10. I'm not going to buy a piston until I have it bored because I don't know what size it needs to be.
  11. I just picked up a 97 Polaris Scrambler 400 for $275 that needs a top end. Does anyone know a good place to have the cylinder bored/honed?

    2wd XJ MPG?

Paid $900 for mine perfect condition fully loaded for a country, and picked up a 92 4x4 for $250 so I have my 4x4 swap parts. Haven't put them in yet though.

    2wd XJ MPG?

My 94 XJ 2wd gets excellent gas mileage. I just drove from MD to MA to visit family and got a little over 350 miles to a tank. I'm lucky to see 250 miles a tank in my MJ.
  14. Best way to go would be getting a new used bracket. Then either weld a new stud to the floor or drill it out and nut/bolt all the way through the floor. You want to address rusty floor pans first before going through the work of the seat bracket studs.
  15. What stage are you at? Unbolting the motor and pulling it is easy after you: Dis-connect the driveshafts, remove all wiring to fuel injectors/sensors, remove exhaust, easiest to remove front header panel and radiator, and anything else in your way. I pull the trans and motor as one unit. I usually unbolt and remove the crossmember and support the trans with a floor jack, then let the tail down on a creeper. At this point you should have the motor mounts un bolted then lift up and roll out!
  16. :agree: With the book! Run the red+ to solenoid then clear to + on batt.
  17. You can not get springs out while the LCAs are bolted up. I have read somewhere where someone says you can but I call BS on that! With everything dis-connected and the bump stop removed you still need another 2" of room to get the coil out. Also you will need compressors to get the coils back in safely.
  18. Thanks again!
  19. I am looking for the write up on transfer case linkage. I saw awhile back where someone eliminated all the crazy linkage and used a threaded rod and two ends that I can't describe.(why I'm looking for the link)

    cargo light

I'll keep an eye out for you guys. There are quite a few MJs coming into the pick n pull near me. I installed that light on my truck.
  21. Yep you can get ANY axle you can find for $75, but the employees there are all jerks and its hard to get them to lift the truck for you so you can even work under it. Also both mounts on the axle are bad so I would need 2. Don't forget the PITA trackbar that is soo rusted you can't easily get if off at the JY.
  22. It is a PITA to pull an axle off at the junk yard and then pay $75 for it... I can just buy those mounts for $40 and be done.
  23. So I went to clean up my spare D30 the other day and found that both LCA mounts were rusted away! I didn't have my camera with me so no pics yet. They are too far gone to be fixed, and my 2wd axle tube LCA mounts are different, so no cutting and welding there. Is there any place I can buy new mounts and weld them on?
  24. Ive decided on going with the set-up a member coco here built him self. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4375&hilit=comanche+snow+plow&start=60 I found a few meyers 6'6" blade with A frame and angle pistons for short money. If I build this mount then all I need to get my hands on is a good pump and controls.
