A complete dana 30 with 3.55s is about $150-$200 and 3.55 geared dana 35s are even less. You could get both axles and swap them in a weekend
I could see regearing if you wanted an uncommon gear ratio but your after probably the most common ratio Jeep offered
Can you get a TDI to bolt to the ax5? I don't think the ax5 would do you much good.
And I know people talk up the VW tdi but IMO I would not consider putting one in my truck. They rev like they have mud in the crankcase and they eat cams/lifters.
They are also an interference engine with a timing belt, which I don't like for something that's gonna be running through mud and water.they are also known for turbo failures
They make fairly impressive numbers but in real life a TDI car would be a good race with a 4cyl MJ.
You will have to regear your axles if you want to be able to use 5th gear.
I don't see the point though if you plan to do an engine swap, you do know the ax5 used in the diesel trucks is different from a regular ax5 so it won't work if you want to use the XJ diesel. Which would be a waste of time anyway.
MJ/XJ lift springs are the same.
Also keep in mind that the rear is higher then the front stock, the rear may be 4" higher then stock but that puts it 5.5"-6" higher then the front
Here's why you can't use the front bumper for recovery.
The bumper uses 3 bolts on each side, one is in the frame and the other two are on the sheet metal tab. So basically you have one bolt holding it on.
however if you go further back you will see a hole that is sleeved for mounting a snow plow,if you tie into it you can make a decent recovery point.
Kinda like this
This is the best way
A 2wd pack is not gonna drop it enough to matter.
There is only one bracket on each side with the drop brackets, the second piece is a brace that is there to keep the brackets from hanging up on things. Its actually optional some companies don't even include them. Tighter fitting would be nice but really not that important.
I do agree that their shipping is very slow.
As for their lift,if you bought everything you would have a decent lift. the thing I don't like about it is they only use 3" coils (OME934) then put 2"-3" of pucks on top
The RC lift would probably work better but as far as I know RC doesn't make drop brackets for the MJ
There is a flex thread on here somewhere.
IMO you need to get your current suspension set up right before worrying about rear coils, what you have now can't possably flex very well. The RC 4.5" is a good kit for the money but it doesn't perform like a higher end kit.
You might get everything right and find that the leaf springs flex better then you think.
You don't need a t case drop. You do need control arms, track bar, brake lines, and shocks.
Prices are gonna vary a lot depending on manufacture and design.
Only problem I see is you were just asking about off the shelf longarms so I'm gonna guess you have no experience building something like that.
I figure if you could pull this off why not make the front arms too.
