  1. The 2.5 has the open cooling system. No Volvo cap needed. I have well over 220,000 on mine and it's still running strong. Maybe the PO gave mine good maintenance.
  2. I have a 2.5 MJ and I like it. It keeps up with traffic just fine, gets good mileage even on 31's, and hauls and tows pretty well for what it is.
  3. Correct. Getting rid of it is like throwing the baby out with the bath water. An afternoon of tweaks and maintenance and you're good to go. The problem is that with a Renix you have more tweaks & maintenance to do the following afternoon and whenever the temperature changes or the sun shines. I'm sure you're being funny, but that's not really true. My tbi'd 2.t is just as reliable and hassle free as my 4.0HO ZJ and my OBDII XJ.
  4. Good base to start with!
  5. Hood vents may not be the most efficient way to get rid of heat, but they probably do allow some heat to escape. I can feel some heat rising out of the engine cover vents on my MR2 when it's idling.
  6. The Renix system gets a bad rap, I think. Once one catches up on all the neglected maintenance and some small tweaks are made, it's as reliable as anything else out there.
  7. I've push started my 87 2.5 on flat ground too. Got it up to a brisk jog, jumped in and popped the clutch. I have an AX4, 3.55's, and 31's, btw.
  8. I did quick release hinges on my MJ last summer and just used black oxide bolts from Ace.
  9. I may have to try it. I noticed a huge difference going from 75-90 to syn10-30. If you say it's smoother than motor oil, it's probably slick indeed!
  10. That looks really neat! It may even make things quieter...
  11. You just need to remove 4 bokts and pull up your shifter to do it that way. I've done it 5 times in two years myself. Oh, and when you fill it, use yellow metal safe oil. Personally, I've been using synthetic 10w30 with great results.
  12. My interior is console-less and carpetless, so I just fill up through the shifter cavity. That's another fill option.
  13. That's neat! I kind of want one now. Lol
  14. That's damned sexy...
  15. No...even on a diesel.
  16. Yeah, you should be ok. Even D35's live long and happy lives when used on the street.
  17. Hopefully. The ICM is a bit more expensive than the coil by itself.
  18. A buddy of mine with a leadfoot and a heavy tire/wheel package killed a 8.25 on 33's in an XJ. His trussed ZJ LP30 has survived for years under his truck, strangely enough. Driving style is another factor, I guess.
  19. Quick question: What add a leafs are you using?
  20. As far as your front springs go, see if you can get some JK front take offs. We installed a set on my brother's 2.5 XJ. They dropped right in and brought him back to stock height while being very smooth on-road.
  21. Sorry, it's been a crazy weekend. I'll post to your paypal account tonight.
  22. It makes room in the engine bay and makes a cool noise when the throttle is mashed, so there's that.
  23. Some MJ's came with buckets from the factory. If you find one, take the brackets and attach them to 2 door XJ seats.
