might be doing another engine swap
91Pioneer replied to redwolf624's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
A bit of an aside here but I don't understand why Prestone and others who already have a 50/50 jug don't also offer a 60/40 premixed jug. If that was a choice (which it should be in all of Canada), they would sell tons of it. Some people don't want to have to mix. I think there would be plenty of states too that would find that helpful. -

Yeah but maybe his first gallon was 50/50 stuff and then 1.5 gallons of water. That would dilute it even more. -
Found one, thanks hornbrod.

MJ-90, I'm interested. Have you got a photo? PM or post it here. Thx.

Tylers Daily 4X4 Build
91Pioneer replied to Comanchel0ver's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I just put in a new rad a few days ago. I refilled with about 60/40 mix, supposedly safe to -50C. The bottle says Max is 70/30 ratio. The bottle says 50/50 is good to -37C which is not enough for where I live.- 99 replies

Front hood support struts.. Anyone done this?
91Pioneer replied to 81Chero's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
ooooh sounds like the Redline struts are different. I was wondering about how firm/soft struts are in general. -

Holy crap hornbrod your truck is clean. You ever drive it? The $69 Redline kit is $116 after shipping and conversion to CAD $. I'll try to buy the parts locally, does anyone know the length of the strut rods compressed and extended? I will check Princess Auto next time I'm there, I can probably get it all under $50. Also is there a way to tell if the strut is too firm? I guess long term I could just wait for some liftgate struts to show up at the junkyard. -
Factory shift light not working
91Pioneer replied to Jacob Ochs's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I wouldn't worry too much about the light not working. My 88 had it, it did not work all the time and I rarely used it to know when to shift. I found shifts were smoothest when I shifted at 1,500 rpm or 2,500 rpm. Small city here, so I mainly shifted at 1,500 rpm around town. -
I got the flu shot for the first time this fall. I've had the flu since then, and I had a cold last week. I hope I'm done.

Is there any way you could have him print that off for my truck?

Guy Appears at the Front Door, Wants to Buy my MJ
91Pioneer replied to 1987Comanche's topic in The Pub
Hey I knocked on the door of the previous owner of my current 91 Comanche. Since he's a good friend of my dad, he called me first when it was time to sell. He had people knock on his door a couple times a year asking about buying it. It probably helped that he's on the corner of a busy street and across from a high school. -
Where did you get build sheets? Was that included with the truck? I've got a similar truck, curious if I could find that for my truck...

That's a bad day right there LOL

Nice Comanche! Mine also has the column shift, it was definitely around in 91.

Every drum brake equipped vehicle in these parts has rusty brake drum bits. Looks normal I don't even see the rust LOL - lots of life left on those shoes.

After pulling out my aftermarket drop-in liner that has been there since new to clean, I've been thinking of cutting off the "over the rail" part as all it does is rub the paint down to nothing and let it rust. The bottom of the box isn't as bad as I thought it would be, paint is rubbed down there too. -
No, I won't be shopping locally for this. Small city = poor selection of anything everywhere. I'm not needing it urgently but my headliner is sagging a little bit on the left and right side, just a bit. So long term I will recover the headliner. Where is the best place to buy as close to factory grey material as possible? And do you guys know how much off-hand I should be buying (I know I need extra to hang over the edges during install)

I would try synthetic brake slide grease. I haven't yet but that's what I'd try as a lube.
