  1. Rock Tracs where used in the Rubicons 03-06. I just reread the article in the 4x4 Garage Mag. It does not say what year jeep they are using just "any jeep cherokee with a 23 spline output shaft". Talking about the speedo, they said the 3 wire input for the speedo worked for them also. AW4 trans
  2. FWIW MJs are 5 on 4.5
  3. I would buy it, fix the damage, and drive the wheels off it. For a 86, the 4cylinder is the engine to have.
  4. your local auto parts store
  5. I swear that grill thing was something the dealer did when the jeep went in for work. Almost EVERY RENIX and early 90s Jeep XJ/MJ I come across, has the grill in upside down.
  6. You need a Haynes repair manual.
  7. Then thats probably all you get
  8. By far the most stressful thing Ive had to go through. Hoops to jump, absolutety no financial privacy, hard to find what you want for what the bank says you can pay. My current house was sold because of the garages. I have one large 3 car and one smaller garage. Next house will not be bought for the garage because I'm going to BUILD the garage I want. I hate moving to top it all off!
  9. :rotfl2:
  10. Hell Creek Suspensions
  11. DDer Hauler Project Have 3 MJs.
  12. I have actually been shopping this week for a compressor. Think I'm going with this one: http://www.aircompressorsdirect.com/Iro ... ml#reviews My local farm supply store has these for right around 400 bucks.
  13. My favorites. Ran both on street and wheeling rigs. BFG KM2s. Liked these for wheeling alot but where not as great as... MTR/Ks. Loved these! My next wheeling rig will be running them! Cooper STTs. Great in snow, quiet, wear out fast. BFG ATs. Had them on my 01 Diesel. Just like any other AT to me. Swamper LTBs. Tough tires, street manners suck. BFG Long Trail Touring. (LOL) Brand new tires on the DD XJ. Seem to be fine for DD use!
  14. I have used a big slide hammer successfully in the past. Make sure when you put new parts in you "neverseize" the crap outa everything! You would be amazed how fast those parts 'weld' themselves to each other!
  15. Getting closer to getting some time to start the swap. Still gotta get to harbor freight and get a engine stand, 20 ton press, and some rollers for moving unrunning jeeps around the yard. Quick question: AW4 has 154k miles on it. Drove around on 33s for less than a year, never wheeled, true mall crawler. Would it be a good idea to drop it off at a trans shop for a freshening and maybe a band adjustment? Or just drop the pan and change the trans filter myself, throw it back together, add fluid, and run it? (or just run it) :rotfl2: FWIW, I have 2 AW4s in the garage also.
  16. Glad you posted this here. Buddy of mine a week or so ago sent me a link to bccrawlin but I could not look at it w/o signing up. Looking forward to the progress. Any chance you could get some more shots on the tubed rockers?
  17. Ironically about 30 min I was looking at some Dana 44 axle shafts from this company....
  18. think everyone would agree the search function is not the easiest tool to use on this site. (not to say it doesnt work)
  19. http://www.quadratec.com/products/16156_000.htm  Had these on my old XJ. Very nice to be able to control the height side to side also. But you are talking 40 bucks to 240 bucks here.
  20. Doing research on steering options... http://www.polyperformance.com/shop/PSC ... -1179.html Says its for a 90+ Will this work in a 87 application? Whats the difference? My guess is bolt pattern on the steering box but I don't have a clue. edit: Must just be how the product is listed. http://www.polyperformance.com/shop/PSC ... 18891.html
  21. :rotf: Have you ever left Florida?
  22. If I was closer, I would be pulling onto my car trailer already!
  23. Heading up to the shack for some grouse hunting. Loaded up with 30 gallons of water, beer, gas, ice, ammo, etc, etc.
  24. This is great Ben. Learning all the things that where wrong; education on my part.
  25. Thanks for the post. I'm not too concerned about reverse lights. I like the idea of a toggle for them anyway and probably use some aftermarket units that actually light up the area behind the rig. Hack it is!
