Can Spell Comanche

Can Spell Comanche (2/11)

  1. Do these Do these vents just pop out with the careful use of a flathead?
  2. That looks nice but too pricey for me. I just ordered a mopar one online and I will just get hoses locally. Should I switch from green antifreeze to the orange stuff?
  3. It looks like I have developed a antifreeze leak at the water pump. I don't want to replace with autozone brand junk. They have a nice one on 4wd hardware called the cool something...? I will replace the pump and all heater and radiator hoses. Just flushed the system and put new thermostat and housing on about a thousand miles ago. What is a good pump to put on and are any hoses better than the others? Thanks
  4. Not sure. He told me 86 but I havent seen the title or anything. I think I am going to have to pass it up due to not having time or room for another one...at least that's what my wife says. If someone wants it, I can get you the info.
  5. I found a red 86 2wd shortbed. It was wrecked lightly on the front. Needs fenders, grill, bumper. Hood and radiator are good. It is only a 4cyl. The bed is is rough and needs replaced. There is no rust on the truck and it does start after sitting for 2 years. He has the title and wants $300. If I got the truck I would do a 4wd conversion and a 97+ front end. Does this sound like a decent deal? I have been looking for over year in my area and only seen 2-3 4wd and no one wants to sell them. How much I looking to put this truck where I want it and is it goo g to be hard to come across a good bed for the shortbed?
  6. where is a good place to get front spacers and shackles. I sit about 1" lower up front. I would like a 2"front spacer and a 1" shackle
  7. Well, I trimmed the inside part of the fender flare at the bottom and now get no rubbing. This is just a temp fix to drive on the street. I assume it will still rub when I get it out on some trails. Thinking of doing a 1.5" spacer up front and an aftermarket shackle in the rear. Will this give me a little more clearance without causing issues? Is there certain brand I should use or stay away from? Does anyone know what the ride height is of a 4x4 manche on 265/75/16? That would help me know what I have. Thanks
  8. I can try to get some pics, but that is what I am saying. I don't think it is a 3" lift. They are aftermarket front springs and there are no blocks or shackles in the rear...the truck sits level so I can only assume it is an aftermarket rear spring setup. So, should I add a front sPacer and a rear shackle? Trim flares? Just buy a 3" lift?
  9. Just had worn out mtr's. I wanted km2's and after reading on here...I thought 265/75/16 would fit with my so called 3" lift. It will hardly ever see off road, just snow occasionally. I need to trim or do something just to street drive but would also like to have enough room so I don't have to worry about rubbing at full flex.
  10. i was told my comanche had a 3" lift when i bought it. I doubeted that it was 3" but does look taller than a non lifted one. I put some stock 06 rubicon wheels and tires 245/75/16 mtr on and had no problem. i just put some 265/75/16 bfg km2 on those same wheels and i rub the front fender on the side by the door when i turn. The lift is all springs, no blocks, spacer, etc...do i add and inch or so more lift or cut the stock flares off at the bottom? i don't want to trim any metal off of this truck. any ideas? thanks
  11. Wow! Thanks for that response. I don't know where to start. I have the d35 rear and mainly street drive. I do not want to trim on this truck. I have 245/75/16. I think I am going to stay with 31's after what I've read from you and some more research. I am looking at 265/75/16 bfg km2 and some new shocks. I have had good luck with bilstein in the past. Do they make a shock for the Comanche with up to 3" lift? If not what is a good all around shock?
  12. When I bought my commanche, I was told it had a 3" lift. It doesn't have blocks, spacers, or shackles...so it must be front and rear springs lift. Right now it sits on a set of Moab wheels with bald 245 mtr's. I need new tires and want to go a bigger but it looks to me that the 245 goodyears are as big as I can go without rubbing. My questions are 1. Does this seem like a 3" lift? 2. How would you go about squeezing 33's without trimming 3. Can I go 33's without any other mods(driveshaft, brake lines, etc) Thanks a bunch
  13. I am not having any problems other than a slight miss. I drive it daily and other than an oil change, I haven't messed with much. I a Pretty sure it has no thermostat because it doesn't get much above 120-140 so I have almost no heater. I just wanted to go through it and change fluids, flush, stuff, and do a basic tune up before winter.
  14. I am making finally going through the Comanche and need to gather a full list of parts. Any input would be very helpful. I would like to know specifics on all of these things and maybe anything I left off. Thanks Plugs Wires Differentials(fluid, gaskets and/or sealant?) Transfer case Transmission(ax15) Thermostat(195?) Coolant Radiator cap
  15. is there a place to get replacements for these?
