Scott, do you have a bench now? Rob
-
I figured the DIY was not only the place to show writeups on how things are fixed as well as tools/methods/tricks to doing them. IE, I made this tool, and this is what I used it for, or I needed to do this, and this is how I got around it. Rob

When I get the chance, I'll shoot you the call, but you pretty much know my situation. I need another vehicle to take care of like I need another hole in my head. When I actually have to turn down a free Comanche, I am to the point I can't take on anything else, or burden anyone else with my junk. I feel bad enough as it is still having the MJ trailer stuff in project stage over at your place. Rob

Sorta Quick Answer Needed; How Much $$ To Offer Seller For Vehicle Delivery?
Automan2164 replied to jpnjim's topic in The Pub
It really depends on his tow rig and how thirsty it is. I would think you would want the seller to end up with at least $50 for delivery with fuel not included. I would estimate the fuel mileage, and use that as a guide. You would have been spending the money on fuel anyway... Assuming his setup might get 10 MPG, and say $4.00 per gallon, a 120 mile round trip is 12 gallons, and costs $48. Toss on another $50 for the trouble, and I think $100 ish for the time, fuel, and trouble would seem good. Rob -
I was pretty much figuring that fell into the DIY section. Rob

Go for it fellas. I'm a bit bogged down, and wouldn't have room for it even if I could get the funds. Rob

Well guys, I figured I would pop on here now that I have some presents wrapped and a sleeping puppy at my feet. On Saturday, Angela and I picked up a new puppy, an 8 week old purebred Standard Schnauzer. This is the father, Grand Champion Heartland's Count Basie. Our pup. I haven't been on because I failed to realize what a handful a new puppy is. I've always grown up with all sorts of animals, but my mom usually rescued other pets in need, rather than young ones. I've had little experience with small pups as such, and I'm really feeling it. This is a level of tired I haven't felt in awhile. I think I may have been getting sick, and the potty breaks/vomit sessions were not helping. The constant attention and potty breaks every few hours are really draining on me, but I have to admit that I've only had to clean up a couple piddles from not moving fast enough. I am taking solace in the puppy naps... Oh how I love thee. He had a bit of a rough first night in the crate, and was a bit loud. After a tap on the crate and a firm no a few times, he figured out that he's alright, and that it's a safe place. We've named him Bear, and he looks like a little Ewok. We hope to get him to the point where we can bring him along to the car shows and cruise nights with us... Looks like I am going to have to put a bench seat in the diesel. Haha. Any of you guys have any tips for puppies that you have under your cap? I'm crate training him to start. Merry Christmas also! Rob

Even if so, the yards don't know how desirable that color is... Most of the time, if it is a decent yard, the price is always decent... OP, if sounds like you don't have much experience in the JY, and they may have picked up on this hoping to grab a sucker. Unless the prices are posted, everything is negotiable. Everything. I've even paid in Budweiser before. Just depends on the yard. If you look like you don't belong there, they can tell. Go into your closet, find the crappiest set of clothes you own, let them sit outside for a week, cut some holes in them, go roll in some mud and skip a shower. Walk in then, and I bet your price may be different. Rob

My eBay account was also recently hacked. I got a notice saying that there was a unusual purchase, and that they recognized it. They then wiped the fraudulent purchases, and made me change my password through eBay, my security questions, and the works. Changed the rest of my passwords too... Rob

No... Not at all. $25 a seat and maybe $20 tops for the console is an alright deal. Tell him to shove it. Rob

Thanks for being the test mule on that... I was curious... Rob

Just because... This is what a JY MJ looks like by me... You non-rustbelters may just want to skip this post... Rob

Er, there have been some interesting developments with the exterior scheme I was shooting for. May be jumping classifications here. I've had some inspiration from inside the group here, and I just can't shake it. More details to come when I chase down some stuff. Rob

For realz. Especially out West or south. Up here, usually when I found one, it's rotted out past the point of being savable, and smashed like none other. Some of the pics you lucky non rust belters post of JY MJ's make me cringe. Crop them out of the yard, and they could be sitting in the parking lot next to you... Wouldn't even know the difference. So you didn't want to send me that porn link? Hmmph. I thought we were friends. Rob

30" Tires On Stock Height?
Automan2164 replied to huck731's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes, and a fantastic value at that. Look at the prices. JP has done testing on them including airing them down past what treadwright recommends and wheeled it with no problems what so ever. I think a few people on the board here have them, with no complaints. They take an old tire, skin it, and apply their own tread. The all terrain is so close to the BFG AT I am surprised they haven't gotten in trouble. When you order, you can ask to have matched casings, so you get all matching sidewalls. A guy I work with asked for matching carcasses and got the A/T's. When they showed up, they had put the A/T tread on 4 old BFG A/T carcasses. Unless you knew they were retreads, and looked for the parting line, you wouldn't have known any better. I've only ever heard of one problem. Someone had told me that a buddy of his had one separate, and went to them on facebook. They immediately bought all the tires back and gave him new ones. Now that is customer service. Rob -

My original tach is goofy from an electrical problem. You'd have to be nuts to think I would part with the only cluster I have though... Rob

I would hit eBay for one. I have been looking for one to replace the stock one in my diesel for some time, but the Renault clusters are super hard to come by. Rob

I don't think those are factory mirrors. Close, but the style is different, and they are mounted too high. http://comancheclub....ors#entry296497 My '87 had the factory towing mirrors: Rob

I know Jim already posted the numbers, but here are some pics of the parts book. Rob

Did one on a D35, same situation. I had no idea until I opened the new bearing and it was grease packed. Looked into some books, and asked around on here, and found out such a thing was possible. Inner axle seal just inboard of the bearing, grease packed bearing, outer seal. Pics of the process if for some ideas... Rob

I saw another group doing the spreadshirt thing through a facebook storefront and spreadshirt.com. Rob
