Facebook is sucking the big one lately... Going to have to switch pic hosts. For the time being, clicky here. Rob

Good luck. Serial numbers, while sequential, are also sequential with XJ's. We have no real way to do it besides the rough guesses formulated from various books and publishing. Rob

You can look all you want. To think that we haven't been down this road many times before... You haven't been here long. The MJ was a product of AMC. Chrysler wanted little to do with it. All records were stored in a basement in the Chrysler archives. All AMC/Jeep files were down there, as well as any older Jeep stuff. The basement flooded, and all records were lost due to damage. Rob

Now I get it. Many thanks sir. Rob

What the sam hell is the purpose of the boomerang shackles? It doesn't seem like they would apply any sort of different leverage or anything... They are still attached by a piece of steel, with essentially a straight line between the two bolts. I could see if there was another attachment point or somehow changed the geometry of the shackle... Can anyone explain the purpose? Or am I missing it completely? Rob

Sportruck in the squiggles instead of hockey stick style means '91-'92. '87-'90 '91-'92 Rob -
They either need to paint the grille black, or chrome that puppy. Just doesn't look right painted body color. Rob

I've always considered this for a clean stock look, with the capability of a solid recovery point as well as a winch receiver. Reasonably cheap also. Rob

If the letters are raised, why not try shaving them flush with a razor? Rob

I shall make my vote with pictures. WOOD EYE! OP, sorry for the hijack. :D Rob

Searchtempest was good, but ever since eBay got a hold of Craigs, nothing works the same. It used to be that Searchtempest would open up a bunch of windows on their page and you could scroll down through them. Ever since eBay changed the parameters, they don't allow it. I use Searchtempest, but now do the direct results tab, and open each area into a tab and close the tabs until I am done. Rob

Neat. Be a good addition to the already leather seats. Going to keep an eye out now. Rob

Renault. My problem was a lighting problem, but it just as easily could have been any of the other fuses, including IGN. What had happened was I think at one point in time, someone had kicked the fusebox, or something had gotten up there and pushed the fuse, spreading the blades of the fuse holder. It would look and appear fine, but every few weeks, would break contact just enough to cause the fault. It was frustrating because every time I would check the circuit, I would put the test lead on the pin of the fuse, it would hold it in place and make good contact. I moved on down the line because I thought everything at the box was good. I sent myself on a witch hunt, determined for it to be some overly complicated problem. Turns out the simple stuff bit me in the keyster. Rob

Don, previously I have had some loose fuses in the fusebox knocking around that bit me in the butt. I was determined that it was a short in one of the splices in the dash, so I broke out the wiring diagram and partially pulled the dash down. It wasn't until I did all that work as well as de-looming part of the main harness down the drivers side kick panel that I traced it back to the box. The slightest touch was enough to make it act up, even though I could drive for ages with no effect. Now when I have the problem, I just wiggle the fuse. Rob

Pat, maybe you know... Is this one of those plug and play items? Rob

I have to admit that I am going to cheat a bit. A few years ago, heck 6 now, I started working for a municipality after working at a Ford dealer. Changing jobs meant that I would no longer need my box at work, and it got to come home... Bringing my toolbox home has been one of the greatest things since sliced bread. Especially with losing our shop privileges at work... If I had to have all my all my tools there and couldn't use them after work... I would blow a main vein. Rob

To think that selling a vehicle or anything without being retail is a set price, or that you will get exactly what you are asking is unreasonable. I am notoriously cheap, and will even ask at stores. Most recently, I went to the car audio/accessories place by me and bought the tweeters for the XJ. He told me the price, and I asked if that was the best they could do. Was I expecting to hear no? You bet. Instead, he said that he offered a better price for certain accounts, and that he would be able to match that. Not a whole huge difference on price, but hey, still less than if I wouldn't have asked. Rob

I will sort of open the door of negotiation over the phone if the distance is over an hour to the object... I won't dive straight in without looking, but I test the waters. Ask if there is room, bring up some comparable sales or examples. If there is a stone wall, I don't waste my time. Rob
