  4. The underside of that thing screams massive bondo and bodywork up top... Ay carumba. Rob
  5. Additionally to the test biotex mentioned... When removing the cable, keep it powered with a jumper before putting the meter in place. When I do it, I usually take the cable off then put a heavy jumper wire between the two. Turn the key on, but don't start it. Then put your lead between the cable and battery post and remove the jumper to divert all flow through the meter. The thought behind this is that if you remove the cable, then put the meter in place, some modules or issues may have been forced to sleep when they lost all power while you had the cable off. By putting the jumper in place, turning it on, then turning it off and removing the jumper with the meter in place, you maintain power the whole time and don't force anything off. I don't know if all that made any sense... Rob

    I Want One!

It's still in the family... Although my coworker isn't too happy about it. A nephew got it and drove it like a truck. It's been bashed up like a highschooler would, but it may be in storage now. Rob

    I Want One!

I said it multiple times! Even in the trip thread! You posted on it a ton! Rob

    I Want One!

I've seen it in person, and we (Comancheclub) have picked the garage of the man who built it from scratch. http://comancheclub.com/topic/21060-a-must-see-trip-pics-finally-up-pg-6/page__hl__amc%20nut Rob
  9. Keep an eye out at the swap meets too. There is always a huge booth with a ton of books. Ask them where thee Jeep stuff is. Usually, he's going to walk to the back, dust off a forgotten crate, and let you pick through. I've bought a handful locally this way. No shipping, face to face haggle. They always seem to be willing to move the lesser Jeep stuff in favor for room of others... Also, keep a sharp eye out at the junkyard. I was rifling through an XJ once and stumbled upon an FSM. I brought it up with me and put it on the counter. The guy just looked at it, looked at me, and said "Big @$$ owners manual, $5". I kept my mouth shut and gave the man my money. Rob :D
  10. Jim is right. This is one of those things that are worth whatever someone will pay for it. It really depends on how hard up someone is for one, or if the market is even there for it in your area. The best thing to do is catch a "wanted" ad with someone looking for one. If you don't need to sell it, I would just hang on to it in case you find someone to barter with for something you want. Rob
  11. I have a video for this!!! Rob

What owner loves best about CC Drooling over everyone's projects --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ben, let me be the first to say thank you for buying this rig and bringing it into the fold. You've been a longtime member who's been tinkering with a project of your own for some time. When you picked up this thing, I think you got a whole new group of followers on the club. It's great that you can share photos and info of what could and may be the only surviving MJ camper. It was awesome to see you put it to use too, it looks like you can have quite the little party in there. Good to see it getting out and getting some use. Enjoy the spotlight. Rob Click here to view the article
  13. He's in Burlington, but he's a member here, and willing to give all the info you want. Rob
  14. Pick it up Jim... It's a runner, but it's going to need a whole new body and some mechanical work. I'm sure Phil will pop on here and tell you everything about it. Rob
  15. Illinois you can do the same thing. I picked up a set of Illinois dealer plates from '86 for the Diesel, but when I got my first pick of "DIESEL" on my antique plates, that sort of went out of the window. Most of my registered MJ's have had vanity plates. 1 JP MJ 1TONMJ DIESEL The new Cherokee will be JP XJ on a police commemorative plate. Rob
  16. It was on like Donkey Kong tonight. Turned out way better than I could have hoped. Rob :group beer:
  17. Have you tried the dealer? A used one won't be far behind from cracking, and an aftermarket one just doesn't feel right. I just recently picked up a five speed knob for my AX5, and it was only $13 or so IIRC. Rob

  19. I'll third that. It's rare I have the urge to click on the popular forum also. Rob
  20. He still fits quite well in the XJ... Hard to believe he's going to be close to 50 lbs. Rob
  21. Commercial, consumer, or mil-spec? Rob
  22. I don't want another subforum. Don't see the need for it. The vendors section arose out of a need to separate the private sellers from the businesses. A whole 'nother section just to talk shop and about tools? Nah. Take it to the pub, or start up a thread in the DIY if you made a tool that helped a job and want to make a well, DIY to make the tool. Rob
  23. It seems to be what most people use them for, or a range bag. I've been looking for a surplus shoulder bag or something of the sort for some time, but nothing spoke to me. I saw this on the shelf of the local surplus store in the bag section and was sold. The ammo can I use works, but the serp belt strap is cumbersome, all the small tools fall to the bottom, and it's dayem uncomfortable if I have to strap up and walk loaded down with parts and that over my shoulder, corner of the can jabbing me in the side and the belt cutting off all blood flow to the side of my head via my neck. Hopefully, I can keep sockets/small stuff in all the pockets, and then use the middle for the big stuff. A zipping top is sweet too, so I don't lose anything. I can't wait to christen it. The cross patch on the patch velcro is sort of an homage to my current can, which has a red electrical tape cross on it from the AMC nut I bought it from. Wow, that was wordy. Rob
  24. Perfect Tortilla pan set, pet hair roller, gift cards, bit 'o cash, fold up shovel for the back of the Cherokee, belt that uses a belt buckle so I can wear my Renault belt buckle, and my personal favorites... Stuff for JY picking. A black condor tactical bag with all sorts of pockets, dividers, and such - A mil spec flashlight that can stand on its own - A bunch of carabiners for hanging parts and stuff off the bag as I walk - Awesome. Now I can ditch the ammo can with a serpintine belt I use for a shoulder strap... A bit uncomfortable at times. Rob
  25. Haha, thanks. I made that in high school. It's in dire need of an update or take the whole thing to here. I'll keep my eye out for you. 99% of the time JY MJ's have benches, and if you are just going to recover it, even better. Rob
