  1. Sounds like the constant flexing on the tailgate from the ramps & weight of the quad is breaking the factory welds. Not sure as photos would help to identify the specific issues. I am willing to bet the tailgate is bowed from side to side and this is causing some of the issues. Placing a large plate over the the entire area will help, but, if the tailgate is bowed and you place metal over the part, the new metal will become bowed as well, as you rivet the metal into place. Hence more weight & flexing will only exacerbate the situation. I have found, working on cars for a living most of my life, you need to identify the current condition or issues, fix the issue which may involve straightening the tailgate and then adding a plate for strength. Just my 2 cents worth!

Hmmm !!! You know more than me, I can't find the on button!! It's not marked "ON".
  4. I'm not much for Vettes, never have like them, but, that is a real shame to loose some rare cars of any year or vintage.
  5. Nice score!!! Like everyone else up here in the northeast, finding something that nice in the Junk Yard. Just a dream!!
  6. Ok, I did a search and did not find this issue listed, but I am sure there is some discussion somewhere. Anyway, while driving in the snow last week and today, I placed the vehicle in 4H. Sporadically, the truck will make a loud knock/pop noises and the truck jerks. It feels like it is coming from the front axle. At least to me, it feels like the "front axle might be engaging and disengaging" while driving. If I let off the gas immediately the noise & jerks stop. As I continue to drive the vehicle will sporadically exhibit the same symptoms. I stopped and shifted in & out of 4H several times to discount the issue of not having the shifter in the correct position. I know the vacuum lines and vacuum engager should be checked, but what should I look for or test to verify it's proper operation? So, starting with the least aggressive method to resolve the problem, what should I look for. thanks
  7. As already stated, start simple. Check to make sure you have: 1. The correct type & amount of coolant- a low coolant level can cause lack of heat issues 2. Heater valve is functioning correctly ( already stated by Blaine) 3. Heater controls are functioning properly- sometimes the controls are not functioning properly allowing the heater box to switch from defrost to heat, etc. 4. You have the correct thermostat ( many folks place a lower temp thermostat in vehicles) 5. Water pump is not working correctly- a corroded or non functioning impeller on the water pump will result in lack of water flow. What is the current operating temp of the truck andhas it raisin recently. 6. Flush coolant system ( a clogged hose, heater core or non-functioning heater valve) 7. Heater hose(s) are old, have collapsed internally and warrant replacement 7. Heater core is clogged, replacement warranted
  8. The cross reference is very handy info to have.
  9. Yup I'm interested.
  10. I buy RockAuto often and have really good luck with the parts. I do order the name brand parts (Moog, etc.) in most cases and this has made a difference. So, my experience has been order the name brand parts that have worked from you in the past and this usually results in a good experience
  11. You might try running your own wire harness. There are several brands on the market. I have built numerous hot rods and streets rods since the late 70's. I have used different do-it-yourself wire harness kits with great success. You will need the wire harness kit, a TCM for reference to which wires need to be branched off or used to create a full circuit. One brand: http://www.painlessperformance.com/ . Another method, find a basic vehicle with a basic wire harness from a salvage yard or a Cherokee and modify to fit your needs.

  13. Charles Dickens I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. W. T. Ellis It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air. Calvin Coolidge Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas. To everyone a very safe and "Merry Christmas".
  14. Back to you and to everyone else.
  15. Whoa !!!!!! Koooooool Stuff.
  16. I recently visited this salvage yard near Gettysburg, PA. Anyway there is a MJ with almost a complete black interior ( bench seat). I pulled the right side lower sill trim, but I would be willing to trade out the black one for charcoal trim part. Sorry I don't have a photo, but I wasn't thinking that photos might help someone else. 21. I know we are at war, But I hear change is in sight Instead of family and friends for Thanksgiving you will Chow with your comrades tonight One to your left, the other to your right. Your regiment, your battalion, Have now become family and friends Living day to day in a personal sacrifice On a mission to defend. You are the hero's who's faces we may never get to see But the pride and glory that's lives in a soldier heart Biers one word "Integrity" On this day We give thanks and honor to those brave and true Our banners, we will proudly wave The Red, White, and Blue We will give our thanks not only to our god but also to every soldier for our bounties, that be. For they give meaning to words Home of the brave Land of the Free. To the soldiers in the mess hall Eating their thanksgiving feast, to the troops in the desert eating another Meal ready to eat. May peace, hope and strength Travel with you along the way And may these wishes find you On A Soldiers Thanksgiving day.

  23. There are numerous ways, so, I'll just give a brief overview to your question(s). Do you need an alignment after install. Usually yes,( to set the toe) but not always, To quote you, align everything to "center" and install. Yes, it's possible, sometimes it may work, many cases it does not. The steering gear is "usually" not set. You will need to center the steering gear manually before install. How I did many of the cars I work on. Center the wheels, with motor running, turn wheels left & right a few times until I have the wheels centered. Not the steering wheel. If I have a proper alignment to start, I will use a 18 foot straight pole or hook a string to the suspension behind the rear wheels, pull the string taught over the rear wheel at horizontal center ( remove center cap is needed). Holding the string in front of the front tire, the string pulled taught until the string is barely touching the front of the rear wheel. You have a reference point to to verify the front wheels are centered forward. I will mark the steering column with a marker on the very top surface of the very bottom of the column. Usually at the rag joint. This will come in handy later on. I will mark the pitman arm and old steering gear with the mark as well. I do this so that I can check the old gear and location of pitman arm, ( for cars that do not have a keyway spline)( some older cars without a keyway spline allow you to install a pitman arm at any location.) Center the steering. I turn the gear left & right, count the exact turns 2x and then center. Remove pitman arm, remove gear. Check old gear, turn side to side to verify pitman arm location, reviewing my marks. Install gear, install steering rack, using my mark to verify column is still in the exact same location Install pitman, exactly same location as old unit. After everything is install, use my 18 foot straight edge or taught string to verify tire location ( toe-in or toe out). Inspect steering wheel to see if centered in relation to the tires being centered & forward.
  24. My condolences, although I know not of your friend, it is always a loss, when a friend lost!
  25. Interesting bumper, first one that appears to me. Would like to know if anyone had bought this and the amount of time invested to weld it together.
