  1. True, But what would look gooooood! Not trying to be funny, but I am in the same boat and I don't like the Westin ( looks too much like a FORD bumper) and I am not lookin for a off-road bumper.
  2. Yeah !!!!!!!!!! Always a little after the fact. Hmmmmm, wonder way that is?
  3. I would move forward & get something a little more reliable and less of a possible hazard ( you comments about mechanical issues, steering & brakes). Typically vehicles with high mileage also have many more hidden ( or mechancial problems not yet known such as suspension, rust issues, weak wire harness & accessories, etc.) You might consider the possible bleeding repair bills if you keep the cars vs. obtaining a newer used car with modern upgrades. There is a time to replace and repair and a time to replace! Just my 2 cents worth.
  4. Hmmm, I recently drove a Pacer with a 304 in it. Because the Pacer is a heavy car, it was a very comfortable ride, handles very well and had plenty of horsepower. Rather surprising!!!
  5. I'm with you, I would like to own a Bricklin.
  6. Freudian Slip ???
  7. 1991 4x4 with I6 and 235 tires, I am getting 19 MPG around town. How is that comparing with the I4?
  8. Glad to see you are recovering and in the grand scheme of things the injuries are not as bad as the could have been,
  9. My vote is the 92. Finding everything to complete a 4x4 swap later on is relatively easy. Lot's of XJ's out there.
  10. My Comanche I bought in August. Nice truck, very U-G-L-Y cap.
  11. where did you happen to get a rebuilt column? Any mechanical shop with a technician that has repaired or rebuilt Saginaw steering column. Technicians rebuild steering columns all the time after a theft & the columns have been damaged. As a former auto body tech I rebuilt many damaged steering columns on recovered theft vehicles. The process is not that hard, just labor intensive.
  12. Yeah !!!!!
  13. Yup, been there, done that. Used a magnetic pick-up and with extensive fishing around recovered the socket. Lesson learned, but over the years, it has happened several times.
  14. Nice lookin truck. Congrats!!!
  15. Like most folks, I use a grinder. Fortunately for me, I have multiple tools for the job. A six inch grinder, a Dremel with multiple attachements, a grinding wheel and some other assortment of grinding tools. It's time consuming, but if you want to spend a little time and a large part of elbow grease, your can accomplish the task yourself.
  16. Battle scars, just battle scars!!!!!
  17.
  18. I ordered just one, to test it out. But, since the comments are extremely positive, I will go ahead & order the second one. Thanks for the feedback.
  19. Thanks to everyone, especially Carnuck. I took a chance & pulled a tilt column with a floor shift & dismantled the steering column at a Pick-your-own junk yard. It took me 3 hrs to do all the work. But I pulled the tilt assembly and the lower housing assembly is a match. The column shift has a extra metal band with 2 retaining screws as compared to the housing assembly in the the floor shift model. I noted that all the columns, "with out air bags" were identical. So lesson learned, there is only one internal part difference ( the metal band & two screws that attach to the housing assembly) between the column shift and the floor shift tilt columns.
  20. I just ordered one. Hope it looks and works as good as the advertisement.
  21. Things that make you go Hmmmmmm!
  22. Very Nice job, Nothing like recycling and realizing how good the end project looks.
