  1. I haven't tried. Whoops. Will look for it this evening.
  2. A stock Humvee wheel has 7" of backspacing on a 9" wide wheel, 8x6.5 bolt pattern. Not sure how available those are in your region. My plan is to run the Humvee wheel with 37's on D60's that have a WMS-WMS of about 66". You may want to talk with Trail Worthy about a wheel for your application. www.trailworthyfab.com/
  3. Thank you! I love finding beauty in the Kansas landscape, the MJ is just a bonus :) Thanks. I really like my 'truck that doesn't look like it should run' as some of my family refers. The 2.5 is an awesome power plant. Throw it in a MJ and you have pure gold. This MJ has more power than my old 4.2 YJ ever did. As far as the CAD program, I simply need to download AutoCAD 2014 and go from there. Although I did find a neat Autodesk app for my Chromebook that might have just enough power for me to get something drawn up.
  4. Can that cone be removed from the rod without damage? If so I may still have one on the garbage slave that came with my 86.
  5. If you are looking to replace the battery on a stock truck I would go with any autoparts store brand battery. If you are wanting to upgrade, take a look at the Sears DieHard Platnium (aka Odessy). I have had awesome luck in the 5 years I have had one in my TJ with regular winch duty.
  6. The WJ and TJ share the same motor mount design, which is different than an MJ/XJ. Not to mention, the WJ did not have a distributor. I am not aware if a ZJ block will bolt into an MJ/XJ or not.
  7. Niiiiiiice! Looks Sharp! ...and nobody here can complain about a slow painter ;)
  8. I think it is safe to say that if you are a regular around here, you know if a user is trustworthy or not. I have been on several forums where there was a feedback thread. Those things are usually 100's of pages long. Good luck finding anything about user you are looking for. If you are uneasy dealing with somebody in the 'Club, don't do it ;)
  9. The white vinyl decal still looks like new after spending a year on the '86 rear window :)
  10. Having ridden in, helped work on, spoke with owners and diesel mechanics....it boils down to what you want to do with the truck. The GM Duramax trucks are like a tough Cadillac. Very comfortable equal fuel mileage (stock-stock) to a Cummins with plenty of power on tap. They have an automatic that is tough as nails, very few manuals were ever built. Easy winter starts without plugging it in. Would be my first choice in a truck if it is to be a daily driver and used to pull a Jeep to Moab. Dodge (as with most Chrysler) has a mediocre interior. The body/frame on these trucks will rot away long before the motor quits. These rigs are certainly trucks and built as a truck. Rock solid manual transmission with a mediocre automatic. Also has that classic diesel truck exhaust note. Would be my first choice as a work truck and to pull a Jeep to Moab. Ford... The local diesel mechanic has made a lot of $$$ pulling the cab off the frame to do basic repairs or turbo replacements. I am also not a Ford guy. Last choice in diesel pickup. Here is my buddies 5.9/6 spd:
  11. More than likely you will receive an email stating that part is no longer available....
  12. The ol' 86 just keeps on a keeping on. She turned 170,000 miles this past weekend and still only burns 1/4 quart of oil every 5,000 miles. Although I do have a random miss and loss of power I can't figure out. Just a glamour shot of the beast:
  13. Needing to clean up some treasures in the yard, I hauled the red bed to a dry barn for storage. Needless to say, I got a few strange looks when driving through town.
  14. Had to move the bed and axles to the hanger this weekend. I am still searching for a gray 40/20/40 split bench from a Dakota as well as the fuel sending unit.
  15. The TJ Rubi axles (03-06) will bolt into the MJ. You will need a conversion ujoint for the pinion, 1330/1310. I came across this on the Rubicon Owners Forum, a once very active place..... The previous owner decided a D60 would be be better suited for his wheeling style and was unloading it.
  16. And my 86 2.5 TBI prior to the aluminum valve cover swap:
  17. The Rubi front axle has a LP Dana 44 center section with D30 knuckles. The front locker is known to be stronger than the rear as it has more material in its construction without the limited slip components. Some guys run a front locker in the rear if the rear gives out. I will be running a Rubi 44 front of my '92 MJ because it was attached to a set of Vanco brakes, U turn steering and old Alloy USA shafts I bought for my TJ Rubi.
  18. Some folks have issues with the Rubi locker, others don't. I have put 100k lifted and wheeled miles on my '03 Rubi with the stock locker with at least 33's. The last 40k of those miles have included 5.13 gears, Superior shafts and 35's. The locker and limited slip are still working great. It seems that most failures have occurred when there was a serious shock load to the differential (spinning up a slick rock ledge with the throttle down and then grabbing traction). I was mistaken regarding the shim notch. Here is a fellow much smarter than me discussing installing the Rubi locker in a non Rubi 44.
  19. I like them both and regularly drive both. However, when wheeling the Rockies the 5 speed wins hands down. Better engine brake control and more efficient since you can lug around in 3rd with the 5 speed vs running around 2k rpm in 1st with the auto.
  20. I suspect he has mistaken coil spacers as body pucks. Wouldn't be the first time I have seen that confusion.
  21. I have the same locker (got for free from a fellow TJ Rubi owner) and plan to install it in an MJ D44. As I understand it, the housings are identical as are the install parts with one exception: a shim needs notched for Rubi air fitting clearance. Then you also need to drill a hole in the housing for the air fitting. Remember, these rear lockers only require about 5psi to operate. They are also weak in comparison to the Rubi front locker and comparable to an aluminum can when put up against an ARB. Buy gears and an install kit for a TJ Rubi and there should be no issues.
  22. I agree..... ...... but I also have no doubt Pixar tied their stories together.
  23. Nice work  Are those MJ cab vents on the hood?
