I love the key ring picture, nicely done. I'd say that truck is worth every bit of a 13 hour drive.

One Good Thing Deserves Another.....and Another!!!

Nice haul  Off topic - How do you like the Patriot? -
You know, my doctor recommends taking Zyrtec and Clariton at the same time to help with itching. It seems to have worked for me.

Kind of looks like a 60 housing to me. Love the stance with the non-recentered Humvee wheels

I just got over a month of dealing with poison ivy. The rash on my arm had blistered so bad I could feel it oozing and dripping. Then my eyes swelled shut. I haven't had a case this bad since I was kid. The rash didn't itch anymore, it was to the point of a burning pain. Off to the doc I went and got the shot, meds and a cream. I seem to have more sever reactions when I get into the dormant or dead vines vs. their leafy counter part. The Tecnu scrub usually keeps it at bay. ....great, now I'm all itchy.

How Does This Steering Angle Look?
87Warrior replied to Zebvance's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It'll look wrong! I wouldn't worry about it as long as you know each TRE has good thread engagement. I suspect if one TRE had significantly more threads exposed it could be the weak link in the steering. Where did you pick up the taper bit from? Any chance you would like to sell it??? ;) -
Grab a good flash light, lay under the bed behind the rear tire and look up. You are looking for rust behind the fender flare (on the INSIDE of the bed) and on the inner fender well. Also look at the rockers and cab corners for rust. While looking the the rockers, crawl under the cab and look up. Look for more rust on the floor boards, particularly where the firewall and floor pan seam meet. Make sure the Clayton long arm brackets are welded to the frame. Price seems pretty reasonable for the truck, especially if it has no (minimal) rust.

Help With Gear Ratio
87Warrior replied to TheDirtyJeep401's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The 235/75r15's make my' 86, 2.5, ax5, 4.10 feel like a dog. 33's would be unbearable, for me at least, with the stock 4.10 gears. The 2.5 is more high strung than the 4.0 so I would tend to error on the over gearing side of things. I think 4.88's would be a good fit for 33's and the 2.5/ax5. -
't' Handle On Aw4 Shifter
87Warrior replied to jimoshel's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Jim, here are a couple of pictures of a shifter I recently received in the mail. Knowing what is hidden might help you out. -
Praying for Oklahoma :( We got by pretty easy here. 107 mph wind downed a few trees and splattered most of our freshly laid landscape mulch against the house.

Its just an TJ vs. MJ thing. I notice the same thing when switching from my TJ and long bed MJ. The MJ turning radius has never bothered me while wheeling though. Just make sure your touching the steering stops at full lock.

I used 2x4x1/4 for rocker replacement for my '86 mounted the same way I opted for the 4" wide box so it sits flush with the body. This also provides less leverage for a rock to twist the box around when compared to the 6" box. I have come down hard on the driver side when dropping down a ledge. Seems I forgot I was in a LWB MJ on 235's and not in my TJ with 35's..... The box didn't move or twist.

Rc Adj. Double Shear Trac-Bar Issues
87Warrior replied to onlyinajeep726's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes, the Currie Johnny Joint could replace the rod end/heim setup. I run the Currie track bar on my TJ. It has a Johnny Joint at the frame end (single sheer though). I am not sure how the joint would react to rotational force around the ball vs. twisting side to side.- 11 replies

You will find MJ price and condition vary greatly across the USA. I know several guys here have picked up rust free, running, 4.0 4x4 trucks for less than $500. Then their are those like me who paid $3k for a (sort of) running rusty '92 and $400 for a non running rusty '86. These trucks are becoming quite popular so the prices keep going up. Is the XJ in good shape? Wanna trade for a trusty rusty 86 MJ + cash? (only sort of kidding.....)

4X4 Conversion Parts List
87Warrior replied to TheDirtyJeep401's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Correy is correct (as he should be) and it is a 231. Must have had fat fingers mentioning a 232! :dunno: I will be retrieving a few of my stored parts this week and will take a closer look at the sender on the 231. I suspect I have a front drive shaft for you too! You will probably want to buy a new clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing (release bearing), pilot bearing, rear main seal (because it is once piece in the 2.5), and a master/hoses/slave. It has always been my philosophy to replace all used clutch components if they are accessible. -
Don't start pulling stuff apart yet. You will get in over your head with the 97+ swap. READ THIS FIRST: http://comancheclub.com/topic/30671-97-swap-how-to/ Now, how can we help you?

The Start Of Something... 86' Comanche Custom
87Warrior replied to TheDirtyJeep401's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Yup. I figure it would be easiest that way. Even throw in the 1/2 block if requested. Plus, I haven't got much use for the parts and it will help clean out the barn. The 231 would be nice in my '86, but it is already 4wd and the 207 is in working condition so I will share :) -
The Start Of Something... 86' Comanche Custom
87Warrior replied to TheDirtyJeep401's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
You really have to get those serpentine belts tight to keep 'em quiet. Bingo. Sharing the MJ love! Now that good pick-n-pull weather is about, I will be headed east to visit a few yards sometime. Would love to drop off some parts for you 401. Heck, I'll even volunteer to turn a wrench. -
Wow! I am sorry to hear about your experience with your body shop guy. The poor communication is inexcusable :shake: Don't fret too much, my '92 has been at the body shop for two years, but I know exactly what is going on with it.

Now that is a slick panoramic shot of the interior! Nice work on the truck. Looks like she needed an owner with some heart to bring her back.

Dang it, don't fall off the roof! Nice fleet :)
