5 leaf spring pack (3+2) indicates Big Ton/Metric Ton suspension. The D44 also helps confirm this.

I see a beauty in the rough. Especially with a D44 rear end! Welcome to the club.

Depends, what are you thinking about trading for it? That truck is in pretty bad shape. The bed doesn't look like it could be saved so a replacement would be in order. If it were me, I'd be more inclined to find a relatively straight truck that doesn't run than one that does run but has been beat. For this part of the country, his price does seem to be on target.

Thanks! I love red Jeeps. I have ordered some carpet samples so I can pick a gray that will match my headliner and whatever bench seat I find. Now I am trying to determine how to approach the rear axle disk brakes. I have the ZJ disk parts but haven't been real happy with the way they were fitting on the axle. Plus, they are stock brakes. So, I have been studying various options that would complement the Vanco kit that will go on the front end. My simple parts list: - RuffStuff disk brake bracket http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/WELD275.html - '75 Chevy 3/4 ton calipers - '99 Explorer front vented rotors Testing out how the large calipers will fit on a smaller 11" Jeep rotor. The explorer rotors are 11.25" and are thicker. Should produce quality brake performance and a clean installation. No e-brake, but I think a line lock set up would work great out back since there are no safety inspections here in Kansas. :) Plus, the hat ebrake in my TJ seems to need rebuilt every 6 months in order to work....

Driveway Ornament To Daily Driver: 7 Years!
87Warrior replied to Minuit's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Your plans sound solid to me! You have done a great job resurrecting that truck  -
The $1K price would be about right for that truck, if it runs and drives. Would be well worth it if it is rust free.
-
Mike's 92 Eliminator is very nice. We visited about both trucks a few years back at the Briggs Jamboree.

My '03 TJ Rubi is a salvaged rig. My Title reads "Previously has flood damage". I bought it in December of '03, with 12K miles on the odometer. Rebuilt the motor and now have 120K miles on the Jeep. Prior to this I had two other salvaged Jeeps, a '90 YJ and a '00 TJ. Both were perfectly fine vehicles that got driven a lot. Here in KS you register/tag/inspect a salvaged vehicle the same as any other vehicle.

April 2011 to October 2013..... IT IS BACK!!! It has been a long time coming, but the results make it oh-so worth it. Today I picked the truck up from the paint shop, drove to the hanger and attached the bed, then drug it across the county to my garage

Thanks! I very much dislike the 'splash' stripe. It will stay removed. Thanks bud. I just hope the rest of the build will match the quality of the paint. I think you are right! Ugh. To be fair, he did put in a lot of time repairing rust, straightening the front unibody frame and inner fender, and rear frame rails. The truck lived in KC and was hit several times according to Carfax. It will be fun putting a rust free truck together.

Floor Pan Recommendations For 86Mj
87Warrior replied to banjobill80's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Oh yeah, that 86-01 MJ floor pan will fit like a peach..... I purchased the full set of C2C MJ floor pans (and rockers) for my 92. They are XJ pans advertised as fitting the MJ and fit as well as a square peg in a round hole. I would advise against anything C2C advertises being built for the MJ from personal experience. Their XJ pans being sold as MJ pans would fit an XJ poorly. It seems as if bangobill80 has had a similar experience with the C2C pans. -
Floor Pan Recommendations For 86Mj
87Warrior replied to banjobill80's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just about any quality 'Front XJ' floor pan will fit pretty well. These usually stop around the first set of seat mounting bolts. The pan will likely need to be modified to fit around the small cab brace. You are 100% on your own for the rear. I bought a piece of sheet metal in about the same thickness as the front XJ pan from the hardware store and banged it into shape. The rear XJ pans won't work well as the MJ floor dips on either side. I bought a Raybuck floor pan. Deemed by many XJ'ers to be the 'bees-knees'. It arrived and fit well, but it did have a Key Autoparts sticker on it. Key was cheaper, so I'd suggest looking for one of them. I have used Sherman XJ rockers and they fit great, so I would also consider Sherman floor pans. -
Shiny indeed. I believe he told me there are 4 coats of clear on the truck and worked it to a factory like orange peel. I am super excited to get the truck home. Hope I remember how it goes together!

It seems I am about a week (or so) out from bringing the truck home. The body shop is waiting for the glass company to install the windshield and 97+ seal. I need to deliver my rear slider to the shop so he can get it glued in place. The painter himself, waiting for me to finish taking pictures :laughin:

Nice work! The WK44 sure looks bare without all of the brackets. That truck will look stellar with 35's and those SRT8 wheels.

Yup! Let's take bets.... I say the Jamboree will occur when there is snow on the ground.

My father built this truck prior to my birth. It is my earliest automotive memory. Image Not Found

Here-here. Although I am more of a K-20 guy. If a rust free '66 short box came up for sale, I'd be all over that.
-
I contacted Briggs.....
-
Awesome! I'll be there pretty early so I can look at and study all of work done to the other Jeeps.
-
I would have loved to have been there. To see, feel, smell (?) a brand new Chevy from the 50's and 60's would have been amazing.

Now that the heat of summer has subsided, I have started working on the truck again. Time to pick up where I left off.... ...chopping rust :fs1: Everything from the firewall seam to the rear cab was rotted out, even the frame 'cap' and seat mount. Once it was cleaned up, I coated everything in POR15. Formed a patch panel for the rear floor. I coated the underside in POR15 then welded it in place. Next up, will be fitting the Raybuck XJ floor pan and filling gaps.

I have always had a soft spot for the KJ. Short of lacking in good appearance (personal opinion) they seem to be a very solid platform. I predict the KJ will soon be the cheap Jeep to modify as XJs are starting to increase in value and yet, are regularly scrapped.

No pictures? Whoah, I wasn't aware you could get a KJ with a 5 speed. Awesome! Enjoy your new rig... Oh, and post some pictures!
