    Neighbors MJ

Saw that one for sale in KC while I was MJ 'hunting'. Never been crazy about the camo truck look. But, it seems like a solid MJ
  2. At one point I was mocked by a fellow in a Liberty with the badge, while I was in my none trail rated 03 Rubi. I don't really get the point of them? I voted "other place". What about replacing the 4x4 badge? Line it up under the plastic vent, inline with the door handle?
  3. The MJ is my current DD. But I am getting ready to take the tags and insurance off of it and strip it to the shell. Time to get serious with with body work. It will take a while. Once the MJ is out of DD duties, I will be DD'ing my Rubi on 35's and 5.13's
  4. There is a 2000 XJ in a Kansas City area yard with a seized up motor. The owner says he has 180 days to part it then it must be crushed. Perhaps that is their requirement not the governments? I called and asked if I could buy the entire Jeep just for "parts" for my MJ. Even told him what I am after for a donor. He said I could buy all the parts individually, but he could NOT sell me the entire vehicle as parts. Its a darn shame.
  5. Hope you got home in once piece! I apologize for not being able to help you out. I have been busy!
  6. I voted to Keep it. But, why not sell some of the useful wheeling parts and replace with something more street worthy? That way you do not start another project that you will not have time for later on. Re build your truck as a good solid stock-like truck that can take on the trails when you go. Plus, you will probably make a little money selling off those MJ specific wheeling parts.
  7. Those are my favorite as well. My 92 came with the ugly "swoosh" and I could not stand looking at it. Edit for my disliked graphics:
  8. Good point. The guy who painted my bed said that non factory paint can bubble and peel. If you still have the factory primer on your truck, sand down to that and the bed liner will lay perfect.
  9. Reminds me, I need to get my Tread Lightly! membership renewed. Not to many charitable plate options in Kansas. However, they will let you use an old plate on an antique vehicle. Example: My fathers 1968 Camaro has a 68 licence plate registered to it that he had found.
  10. I may be headed towards Pittsburg, KS in a few days. Looks like you are about 2 hours out of the way. If you really need a hand, I could make it a two day trip. Not that I know what the heck I am doing, never done a RMS before. Good luck none the less
  11. Thank you for the Uhaul hitch pictures! I have been hunting for them for a long while. I really like how everything works with the factory bumper. Time to order the Uhaul hitch!
  12. That means they are working correctly.
  13. Not quite the same as you but similar. I graduated in May with a Master of Landscape Architecture degree. Still no job hits. In this field employers do not want to risk hiring a newbie, any openings call for 5-10 years of experience. I have even tried civil engineering firms and local landscape contractors. Nothing available. I am now trying my luck at Garmin, (yes the GPS company) cartography or graphic design. If I tried to enlist I would get told to leave. Medical condition called diabetes will keep you out. Also why I desperately need a job, medical insurance.
  14. I ordered some D44 Ubolts through MO - Got them a week later
  15. I researched this quite a bit and will be spraying in the next few weeks. I bought the U-Pol Raptor kit. Comes with 4 cans of paint, hardner, and a spray gun. I just picked up my tape and masking supplies. I will keep the bedliner off of the bed rails since the body guy did a great job getting them straight. I will keep the liner under that bedrail lip.
  16. Almost forgot about this thread!
  17. I am right around 200,000 miles on the body. New cluster only read 175,000 miles. Oh well. She still gets 17mpg daily.
  18. Well I passed on that non running 1998. Just to many unknowns. Now searching for advice on another XJ. It is a 2000 Limited, runs and drives, wrecked front and rear corners (see pictures). Went and looked at it in person while helping my younger sister move into a house at Pitt State. It has 70K miles on the clock and runs smoooooooth. AC is cold, heat is hot. Has the 242 which is awesome. Salvage title rig. The owners said he replaced the front CA's, drag link, tie rod, and two of the wheels (cracked in accident). He has it advertised for 2,500 but will take 1,800 (firm, bottom offer). Has had had it for a month and a half. Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found I am fairly certain the price is extremely fair for a 2000, limited, with 70K on it. The coil rail ignition is also a big selling point for me. I have been thinking that if I grab this XJ, I might take the MJ off the road/insurance and replace it with the XJ. WHY? you ask: The MJ is destined for the body shop. He is slow, as am I. I have an extra header panel and turn signals to make it all legal. Will also save wear on my Rubi with 35's as the MJ is my current DD. Then when the time comes, probably next summer after the body work is done, start the swap.
  19. Great news Will continue to keep her in my prayers for a quick and speedy recovery!
  20. Make sure you get the funny clutch alignment tool that fits into the pilot bearing. I changed the clutch in my 90 YJ. Dropped the transmission and transfer case. Was a royal PAIN without the transmission attachment for the floor jack. I found it was easier to pull the motor out of my Rubi, with hoist and engine leveler, than to drop the transmission and transfer case in the YJ. Make sure you replace the pilot, throw out, and slave (if internal) while down there.
  21. Make sure they are turned 'ON' with the door.... Don't ask me how I know to do this. The lens is a three position switch; On with the door - off- On. (down-middle-up)
  22. By far one of the easiest to read oil filter topics out there. http://www.rubiconownersforum.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=58887 I run the Mobil 1 FILTER on my 4.0 engines. jpdocdave - Excellent post. I have never seen that break down before! Thanks.
  23. Nothing fancy, but gets the job done: 2000 Yamaha Wolverine, 350. It has been jetted for the Colorado highland for the last 3 years. Only gets ridden for a week every year, at least for the last 5 years while I was in school. Image Not Found
  24. I don't think the wagon will be any more comfortable. You can buy a camper to tow though. Allthough, that's like another rig. I love taking my TJ camping. But I also wheel it at the same time. Have you considered pulling an adventure trailer with the TJ?
  25. That is exactly why I went with full gauges. Good luck with the swap! :brows:
