  1. Come on! KS is far to close to Denver. MN is a safe distance. DO IT! :typing: Google tells me the number is not a direct link to the PD :shake:
  2. Would be humorous if that number posted was to the local Police Department. Wonder where the email goes too
  3. I really do not know much about the topic, but I know enough to think I understand it. While in school I got to work with some architecture students who built a 'solar house', traveled across the country with it, and won some sort of award in Washington D.C. The semi-trailer sized house was powered by solar only. It had a lot of high dollar batteries and some power management system. http://www.solardecathlon.org/2007/team_kansas.cfm I am sure you can research it further if so desired. My friend bought this book for his father. They have a hunting 'shack' away from any utilities and wanted a few more creature comforts. I thumbed through it and it seemed like a GREAT referance:
  4. Hey Sir Sam, Can you tell me how the Klode Auctions work. For example, I searched the site and found a vehicle of interest. I read the buyers information. Looks like a single day buyers fee and good faith deposit ($2K) is required. From there I am a little hazy. Is it required you attend the auction, or is there an online bid option? I see they have vehicles with out a scheduled auction date? How long are they typically in holding? Are most sales done in Littleton? Or do the Montrose and Casper facilities sell as many vehicles? Is there any way to know what vehicles might be up for auction say, in 3 weeks? How much, compared to KBB, do the vehicles typically sell for? As you know, I am actively searching for a donor XJ for my MJ. Say I am interested in purchasing This XJ. What would you say this rig might go for at the Klode auction? Would it be best to do the online stuff or in person (I am about 7 hours away). I purchased my TJ through an insurance auction via a family friend who is a dealer. Told him how much I was willing to pay and he placed the bid. But they also had a live auction. My top dollar bid was the winner and I drove to Kalamazoo MI to pick up the Jeep. Is this how the Klode system works? Sorry for the silly questions, I am just curious about this now. Thanks for the help.
  5. Sweet ride A 90 YJ was my first vehicle. Got me to college when I got an '03 Rubi. Graduated from KSU after 5 years with the MJ as well. You do realize you have started a life long sickness... early! Not to mention all the guys will be swarming her and the truck :rotf:
  6. I drove 4.5 hours to look at an MJ. Decided I had to have it and rented a U-Haul car trailer. Loaded up and drove home. I assume there is something like Uhaul in the great white north. If you do flow tow, or dolly tow, disconnect the drive shafts.
  7. TJ Rubicon Moab wheels :waving: That is the wheel I will be running as well.
  8. Thanks for the comments guys. It is clear this vehicle hit hard and will never be on the road again. The unibody buckle shows that. There are several pre 97 XJ's for sale around here. Usually rusted, busted, and selling for $800. Those rigs won't have much of anything I need for the driveline/interior swap. I do have the dash from another 98 I picked up early this year. Have a good passenger bag, missing the driver bag. I also have the fenders, header panel, and head light harness. Having everything intact and attached to a donor rig is really what I am after. Less guess work needed to find those little parts. It was recommended to me to have a donor XJ sitting there when starting the swap.
  9. I agree that the price is good. I have seen it for sale before and think he is having a hard time getting rid of it for what ever reason. Very few wrecked XJ's get sold in this neck of the woods, typically go to the salvage yard. I am heading to check it out on Monday afternoon with the ability to haul it home. Because I am hunting for the drivetrain I want to pick something up that will work for me. The fact the air bags deployed make me nervous. Seen many rigs wreck and roll with no bags. I do understand the air bags deploy by a decelerometer.
  10. I have done a lot of research on these tires. Will be going on my MJ once it gets out of paint. Seems like those who have them are happy. Like an aggressive AT with good wear patterns, good wet and dry traction, and not very loud on the road. I am happy with the Cooper STT quality on my Rubicon. I anticipate the ST will be perfect for the MJ.
  11. I am needing to get a donor 97+ XJ for my Comanche project. Gonna do the the engine, tranny, t-case, and interior from the newer XJ to the MJ. Here is a relatively local rig (1 hr away) I have found. He said he will take $500 for it. It has AC, cruise, 2 door power windows and locks (I have the front 2 doors from a 4 door), no title, Air bags deployed, no bucket seats or carpet (picked up gray buckets last weekend), with the back end in good shape. It is sitting on all 4's with a busted drag link and tie-rod. They bought it via govdeals.com from the Lenexa (KC area) Water One municipality. Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found I am not to worried about the internals of the motor or drive line. Not sure what to think about the possibility of cracks that may have occurred at the t-case or what not. Never looked at or bought a wrecked rig before. Anything in particular I should check for before throwing down the 5 beji's?
  12. No reason to count teeth. The ring gear should have numbers stamped on it. Series of numbers followed by 39 11 39 Ring Gear teeth / 11 Pinion Teeth = 3.545 or a 3.55 Differential Ratio
  13. When I was looking at doing the same thing, I found this: 4.0 Block Mid 90's 4.0 Head 99+ 4.0 Intake The 21 (or is it 24) lb mustang injectors Ignition, pre 2000 4.0, with adjustable fuel pressure regulator Header.... probably 2 piece later model 4.0 for reduced cracking Pre 1987 258 Crank, Had more weights providing more torque 258 rods I had a hard time finding pistons for my 4.0 rebuild, went through Jeep *edit* Cam was going to be the Mopar performance cam I never got to build it, just did a rebuild. Next time though....
  14. Man, you sure hit the nail on the head! What school are you going to be attending while there? Do not forget: KS Rocks is 1.5 hours south and Tuttle Creek is 2 hours west. If you ever come west, let me know!
  15. Better than I could do! Congrats
  16. Your truck build has had me searching for a wrecked 97+ XJ for a few months. Gonna check one out on saturday :D Not very impressive, but installed the full gauges and retrofitted with the column shift indicator in my 92.
  17. Slick looking truck none the less!
  18. As far as I could find, last year, the only tires manufactured in the USA are Goodyear and Cooper. Do keep in mind the the Dick Cepek tires are manufactured in the Cooper facility too. The NEW Goodyear MTR might be a good candidate as well. When it comes time for tires, I will be installing the Cooper Discover ST's (not the STT) on the MJ in a stock sized tire.
  19. :clapping: It was pretty clear the Renix died from overheating. That Glass Acid crap just made it angry. You suspect the dealer yanked the tires/wheels and replaced them with the donuts? Today I saw my first 'clunkers lot' behind a large dealership in Salina KS.... I spotted 3 WJs, and 5 XJ's. Would have paid more than 4.5K for that red grand. It was beautiful!
  20. The 4" does not NEED new LCA's... but, having new CA's that are adjustable helps you dial in the suspention. All quality control arms will allow the axle to droop more with new joints. I would highly recommend a set of quality control arms... all 4 of them. Depends on your axle and leaf spring set up. About 5" is average for the MJ.
  21. I have been wondering this myself as I search for gray XJ buckets and a console with my column shift MJ. My plan is to just cover the transmission shift opening with a glossy piece of black plastic. A pod like the '68 Camaros might just fit there too. Could add some gauges, or as 'wildman' suggested maybe the electric gear selectors. Of course, I need to find those buckets and console first.
  22. :ack:Bummer, was a nice rig! Makes me want to check the RE TB on the front of my TJ. jeepdoggydogB- Glad you were not injured and found the missing bolt!
  23. Very rarely do I post a youtube video link. I think this one is worth while: Never been a big fan of either artist, but this works.
  24. Take some care when pulling the foam out. I just did this last week and noticed that about 1/2 of the foam mat is wedged up under the dash, sometimes wrapping around a wire harness or the like. I took an X-Acto knife and trimmed the foam mat under the dash. The truck is certainly louder in the cab... that could be caused by the 6" holes I found under the carpet. Makes driving on muddy roads, well... interesting.
  25. If the interior of that truck was gray... I would have offered him a couple benji's for it. Take what I need then use it as a farm truck...
