  1. This is a shot in the dark for you, but might be worth checking. According the one of the designers of the Vanco big brake kit for Jeeps, one of the primary issues with the factory set up is the knuckle wearing down where the pads ride. Perhaps this area worn down by over 15 years of braking is causing your squeak? Although this is an image of my TJ (with the brake pads installed on the wrong side), you can see where the pad ends ride on the knuckle. What brake pads did you go with? I tried to use the O'Reily Wagner rotors and pads on my TJ. That combo squeaked all the time when cold. Replaced the pads with EBC, resurfaced the rotors and no squeak.

  3. When I went to pick up a long bed from a parts truck, the two guys there unbolted it and had it sitting on the ground. When I took it to paint three of us easily carried it in and out of the booth.

  7. I recently went from 4.10s to 5.13s on 35's in my 5spd rubi. At 70mph I am turning about 2900rpm in 5th. By-george this is the best thing I could have done for the Jeep. I spent about 1K getting the front and rear geared with all new bearings, seals, and fluid. Since it rarely sees highway travel, I went with the 5.13's. They are deeper than the 4.88s which would have been like a stock configuration. The extra weight and wind resistance warranted the deeper gears.

    BAHAHA!

    Gotta diff leak
  9. Nice turn out  Just missed you in Ouray. Showed up on the 5th and left the 10th for a few days in Breck.
  10. Apologies to the color blind, 74
  11. I picked a D44 axle and longbed driveshaft to fit for $200 drum to drum. It was even delivered about 75 miles to me. Found it on CL searching "commanche" in the parts section. Once you get above $300 you might as well start looking for a beat up MJ somebody is getting rid of. A guys down the road from me drug his MJ out for stuck a for sale sign on it $250 for the truck and $250 for winch. Had the 44 and metric ton springs.... I was 3 hours to late to get it.
  12. I am currently getting 5.13's installed in my Rubi on 35's. I do not have the knowledge or tools to do it my self. Can't wait to break them in.
  13. I like it! I would like to get the bestop folding topper. Not sure if one would fit my long bed MJ or not.
  14. :hmm: Have not had that problem. Have a mix of male and female dogs here.
  15. Found this posted on CO4x4.org. Headed there this Sunday. Yahooo! Last week was rough with the high humidity and 100+ degree heat. Working on an uncovered tractor is rough. Sunblock and lots of water gets your through the day.... Not sure what to think of the short swamp
  16. Back when I was doing Oil research, I found some reports that the Mobil 1 tends to leave excessive iron deposits in the 4.0. I run Castrol syntec with a Mobile 1 filter  Craigslist is full of characters. I hope to sell my car to one tomorrow :typing: I always make it clear, the first one that plants a wad of cash in my hand takes it. I wonder how old 'Zach' is, sounds like he was trying to find a time to leave the house when his parents were not watching him....
  17. Glad you could join us. Before putting the truck back together buy your self a big jug of anti-seize. You will thank your self later
  18. Although I may be young in retrospect to some of the folks here, my Jeep addiction started at birth... Yup, March 1986. 1986- Brought home in a 2door 1984 XJ, V6, with glass packs. Photographic evidence indicates I received a CJ7 toy that Christmas as well. At some point the 84 XJ was stated for a white 92 XJ. Sold in 1996. 1989- Power Wheels CJ Jeep. Rolled it, painted it, and had flash lights taped to the bumper for auxiliary lighting. Destroyed in 94/95. Through the years I can clearly remember the white 'Jeep truck' with orange stickers and a large 4x4 sticker on the side. It was a 1986 MJ. 2000- Started driving a Salvaged 1990 YJ, 4.2, 5spd that my folks purchased in 95. Became my first 'car'. Wrecked, lifted, and tired the Jeep through High School. 2003- Bought a Salved Rubicon. Became my DD. Sold the YJ. My folks bought another XJ, this time a 1993 from the Neighbors. 2009- Tried to buy the white 86 MJ I knew from childhood. It had been destroyed. A 92 MJ from mid-Missouri catches my eye. Had to have it. ...and here I am today. People insist my Jeep addition was something I established in High school. Wrong... it had already begun!
  19. Paint looks good  Truck looks amazing. Nice work :D
  20. It sounds like you primary goal for the truck is about the same as mine: Reliable DD that will take me down some trails if needed. Your truck looks to be in spectacular condition, keep it that way :smart: Having lifted two Daily Driver vehicles, I will say... heed the advice of "Eagle". I guarantee, once that truck has 4wd, it will take you further than you want to, or feel comfortable going. You can add skid plats, a rear Dana 44 rear end, bumpers, and tow points to make the truck just as completive off road as most of the, over built rigs. Enjoy driving one of Jeep's classic trucks.
