I work in the used car biz and once a car qualifies for the Cash For Clunkers and is traded in It is issued a Certificate Of Destruction and can't be registered ANYWHERE in the U.S. and they require the dealer to Destroy the vehicle. They can't sell it even if they want to. This is really hurting used car dealers who are already suffering from a lack of quality trade-ins.My inventory is already down by 50% and it doesnt look like its going to get any better. yep, there's way too much hear say and people getting the facts of this loser program all wrong. it cannot be bought, used, parted out or anything, it gets crushed. this program isn't helping anyone, and the ones who do qualify are not helped by beeing enticed into more debt. thats what we need, more debt, i guarantee repos will go up. Sorry but you are out and out wrong. They are DEFINITELY parting the rigs. I was paid an extra $300 for the salvage value of a bone stock xj. As to people being enticed you are kidding right? If some one is an adult they can make their own decision even if you don't agree with it. It isn't any better to be a knee jerk conservative than being a knee jerk liberal. they have changed the details since i first read it, and i read the earliest version. seeing how the program just started, the early versions said the trade would be destroyed, no ifs and or buts, no parts no nothing. but here is how its stated in this artice: http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/orl ... picgallery

Anyone Build an MJ Bed Trailer?
jpdocdave replied to holeski's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i'd be worried about alignment of the wheels on the front axle to use it as a rear axle for trailer. -
Lower Control Arm Question
jpdocdave replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
well i just did some searching, everytime it comes up it is saying w/ disconect axle. still it is very vague, but my guess would be w/ ece is w/ disconect axle. obviously no one has ever heard it called that before. -
what about drum hardware, i've seen the adjuster cable come apart, and cause weird noises, if it bound something up you could get a clunk or bang. leaking wheel cylinders can also cause brakes to lock when applied.

you've checked your d shaft u joints? not much going on in the back.
-
there should only be a couple thou in play, not much noticeable. the pin can get worn as can the spiders, as can the shafts.

i still can't understand why he went there. i've never seen him fight, i know he's ranked number one in the world, so why did he go to a second rate unproven organization. if he was that serious and great, why didn't he sign with the ufc, and dominate? did he try to avoid the hardest competition???
-
:agree: ya, i've been reading this and staying out. i've met pat a handful of times personally, helped him on his truck, he's helped me on mine. i consider him a friend, this is uncharacteristic from my expereince, he's acknowledged the problem, and agreed to solve it. pat's helped many people on this forum, now that its in the open, lets give him a chance to take care of things. if you need a hand pat, let me know.

so, i bought a new pair of redwing boots last night (best boots btw, wearing them for 8 yrs, everytime i get a different boot, i end up going back) anywho, i've also been buying the same pair for years and they have a steel toe. well, they had a new version of the same boot, that is completely water proof, but no steel toe. i figure good, i don't like the steel toe, it just wears out anyway, i never have my feet in danger anyway ......first day in my new non steel toe boots, i drop two heavy flippin brake rotors on my big toe, i can't believe its not broke, hurts like a mudda :wall:

owner's manual will tell, i think its 3500 w/ the right hitch. but get someone to confirm for sure.

i'm gonna use mine to tow for a short time. but the d44 and trans cooler is a requirement. and i'd also say a gauge for the trans temp, my trans temp got as hi as 180 in stop and go traffic w/ aux. cooler installed, you'll wanna know while you're towing what your trans temp is or your truck won't last long. trailer brakes are also required. if you do it right, realize you aren't gonna win any races, keep it at a controllable speed, it will do it. if you're dumb, you'll tear the truck up, and endanger others.

8 inches of lift in the rear?
jpdocdave replied to jwdvy4's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
^to be clear, i wasn't bashing, but merely stating the fact. i know and am involved in how business runs, it isn't profitable to stock that many different leafs. but when talking about how much lift you'll get from your current set up it is important to know.
