Truck won't start...........
jpdocdave replied to Puritan21's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
ya, not the nss if it cranks. you say you have good spark, what about fuel pressure. the old see if it runs off carb cleaner doesn't always work these days. also check for injector pulse, and does your engine have compression? and your firing order is right? -
Question installing factory fog lamps
jpdocdave replied to jpdocdave's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
thanks guys, any pictures of the factory relay/s would be appreciated. so is that two pin connector for the fog lights, or is that not even there if the truck didn't have the option? -
so i have factory switches, installed. the 3 wire connector is already there behind the dash ready to plug in. i'm 99.999% sure it has to be for fog lights, the connector gets power when the headlights turn on. then there's an unused two wire connector in front right in the middle behind the grill. right where fog lights go, so i assumed it was for fog lights, and just a short harness is missing for not having the option. i figured i can just wire the two lights into it. BUT, i tested the connector today, and it doesn't get power with the key on, headlights on, and fog light switch on. is there a relay missing somewhere for the lights, or is this connector for something else? what am i missing to plug in factory fog lights?

i think so

^ i like it, been around the block once or twice to huh, very cool.

you work at a dealer? i work for independent shops thankfully, if i was at a dealer i would refuse to do it, kinda like a pharmacist refusing to fill the morning after pill.
-
i don't have words. that thing wouldn't quit, and thats not safe. someone is gonna get hurt doing this, you notice its always a couple idiots doing this for the dealer. and that was not an old volvo, i can't believe whats going on here. hot oil spewing out, fire, hot coolant spewing out of others, parts could be shot out of the engine compartment. i really hope people start getting hurt doing this.

Yep. Sure. Within two weeks the CFC program has created a short supply? There will, be but this is BS crap where someone is cashing in on the govm't getting involved in supply and demand, which will always screw it up, and brings out those who will do all they can to screw us, like getting hundreds of dollars for a toilet seat. kinda makes me think of gas prices to.

The owner of RT.14 Auto Parts was on WBBM this morning talking about it. He said that even though ONLY the engine and transmission have to go to the crusher.. entire vehicles are going to end up going because parts prices are dropping already and steel scrap prices have ticked up. thats what i was thinking, and now its confirmed. stupid. and some of those were 2nd generation grand cherokee's, nice jeeps man. notice the 4.7 v8 didn't hang on at all, he didn't even get the hood open.
-
i'm a little confused how an increase in parts makes the price go up? kinda the opposite of supply and demand. but not important, i don't think many parts are gonna get sold. i think they are going to tow them to the scrap yard, and the yards are not gonna spend much time salvaging parts from our beloved vehicles, the influx in vehicles will probably make them rush them to the crusher, since that is the mandatory destination for the vehicle.

late model intake swap (caution: renix content!)
jpdocdave replied to Oizarod115's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
what hacks, you will be very pleased when you get it right. -
here's my trans temp gauge, and gear indicator added in the full cluster for column shift. i also just installed a pair of factory switches for the lower left of the steering wheel. and in case everyone didn't know, mine was wired from the factory for fog lights, the connector was right there behind the panel, and a socket was just waiting for a bulb for the switch panel, and a connector is at the front bumper, and wouldn't ya know it, i just happen to have some factory fog lights laying around waiting to get installed. the other switch is gonna go for the fan so i can turn it on sooner when towing. ya, this is posted in the cash for clunkers thread. its hard to watch, almost like an abortion video for me to watch. the complete logic void is astounding. that renix could've brought one of our trucks or jeeps back to life.
-
and thats great for the environment right? and all the tow trucks hauling them away, wasn't that part of the scam, help the environment as well as the dealers?
-
:wall: :wall: :wall: i couldn't even watch the whole thing, the video is over 2 mins long.

ssshhhh, its probably the one i've been bidding on, its relisted. stay back :fs1:

they're not upside down. i can't remember if its hydro or nitro shocks that if you mount them the other way they are nasty. most shocks are mounted this way, one shock it doesn't matter, but most are this way. -
Another car shopper emailed CNNMoney.com saying he went to the Environmental Protection Agency's fueleconomy.gov Web site on Saturday to double-check the fuel economy rating for his 1987 Mercury Grand Marquis. When he had visited previously, the car's combined city and highway fuel economy was rated at 18 miles per gallon, making it eligible for the program. But on Saturday, he found something different: The fuel economy for his car had been raised to 19 mpg -- one mile per gallon over the maximum fuel-efficiency allowed under the Car Allowance Rebate System (aka Cash for Clunkers). As a result, he became ineligible for a trade-in credit worth up to $4,500.

i would say that 100% of their goal is to help the new car dealers. they screw up their companies so bad, and then here comes the gooberment, help them out. screw that.
