just take it in, i work in an expensive shop, and we charge 10 bux to replace a stem. you only have to break the front bead, pry it open and change the stem (without dropping the inside half of the stem in the tire, you're in trouble if you do, its gotta come out) way cheaper than buying any tire tools.

yep, i've seen that happen on a few vehicles. its not very uncommon, they will go bad eventually. but that picture is your warning, do it as soon as you can.

hollywood is getting desperate. i haven't seen a good quality movie in a long time. and "drag me to hell"? what the hell is that? horror movies are unreal these days. all hollywood does anymore is see how far they can push the limits, and they keep pushing everytime. the only movies that don't require sex, bad language, and other limits being pushed are will smith movies  :D

i agree w/ throttle body, they need to be cleaned anyway. you can also use carb clean, brake clean, or even water to check for vacuum leaks, i think thats where he is going with that. don't torch your engine :D

Why not? Cali is dying economically and it would fit right in w. the lifestyle. Might as well let the state reap some of the bene's unless it ends up in some politico's pocket, which it prolly will. 8) so with this argument, lets legalize prostitution and tax it, that can generate revenue, lets bring more casinos cuz they bring more revenue. btw, casinos is how chicago keeps trying make more money, and they can't argue the crime, theft, drugs, prostitution and so on is rediculously hi in those areas. do we have no morals anymore?

What differential lube to use?
jpdocdave replied to Luvtohunt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
thank you. guess its not the miracle fluid its made out to be. i still don't attest it will cause any harm. i always look at all angles, not just the hype though. its expensive, and isn't a miracle fluid. thats all. -
What differential lube to use?

again, less friction is correct. but its how the synthetic transfers the heat produced that is different. heat is produced no matter what oil, the synthetic oil transfers that heat less effeciently than conventional and i talked with one guy again, and he is a personal friend of john currie, and other manufacturers. and they demo new products on his tj. -

Synthetic lubes don't get as hot as conventional ones to begin with. But that is the second time I've seen you post that. Do you have a link to some manufacturer stating that ??? Because unless it states such clearly in their warranty paperwork, it would be a violation of the Magnuson-Moss Act. You have said in the past that you work for a Valvoline store, so I wonder if this isn't a case of a company rep feeding you guys a line to drive sales. i tried to find it again and couldn't, i actually got if from a link from a trusted friend on another forum, and its come up in other threads, and it is true. i'm not the only one to state it. conventional oil disipated heat a little better in differentials. synthetic filled diffs ran hotter than conventional. dangerous, no, just a fact about synthetics. i can try to get the link again though. -
It has not done anything for the illicit trade because the very trade is still proscribed. For it to work it would have to be widespread. At least to a state level if not a regional. It would be like prohibition allowing certain places to have alcohol, there would still be usage elsewhere. Modern Example: Dry counties. I have seen a few, and a political boundry does not seem to stop people from drinking when they want to. The consequences just go up. my town used to be dry. doesn't mean you can't drink, simply means no liquor licenses to sell it. of coarse, that tradition was thrown in the garbage when they decided they wanted more money :dunce:

to me, legalizing it all together, and medicinal are two different things. the poll wasn't about medicinal, it was legalization. which means anyone can buy it. i am undecided about prescription use, i'd be more willing to be swayed that medicinal uses are a good thing. but you can't go buy prozac, or whatever weird drugs are prescription only. making it plane ole, legal means anyone can get it, maybe an age restriction would be placed, who knows. i know if it were legal i would have tried it sooner, and more often.

this got beat to death a while ago, and i was the only one who stood up for the degredation of society, and the crap that comes along with it. i've done it, don't care to do it anymore. i've worked with, and employed weed smokers....wouldn't again. i'm gonna try real hard to make this my only post on this subject. our society is going down the crapper, this would not help.

What does this have to do with the topic? It's getting tiresome. ya really.....i think the d35 is just fine as a boat anchor as is  :waving:

all oil repels water. it stays completely seperated untill mixed in the engine or wherever like a blender. ever drain the oil on an engine with bad heads, gaskets etc? all the coolant comes out first, then the oil. they will always seperate. my point is, when water is present, it will get in the bearings, synthetic or not, and the water will cause too much heat, and poor lubrication. sure the synthetic might be marginally better in this situation, just like conventional is marginally better with heat. water is the enemy no matter what.
-
put the thermostat in it to, i've never seen it, but all the old guys tell me without t stats they can overheat, the coolant is constantly cycling, and never stays in the radiator long enough to disipate heat is the theory. get the simple stuff in order, t stat, cap, coolant level and mixture, and go from there.

Its not that synthetics cause more heat,, it has more to do with them NOT transferring heat as well as dinos. My uncle has an race engine shop and went through the whole dino vrs synthetics a few months back.. They use Brad Penn blends in all of their builds after being broke in on the dyno. He said with a blend you get the best of both worlds.. Better lubrication, and a good transfer of heat, or heat being taking away by the oil which causes a better dissipation. Synthetics don't cause more heat just hold it longer. exactly, thats why i said don't disipate the heat, not cause more heat. i don't use it first of all cuz if you do maintenance regularly the extra money in synthetics doesn't add up to me, i'll keep up the maintenance with regular oils. and we don't drive race cars. my stroker motor will probably get a synthetic blend. and anything i wheel the diffs get changed at least once a year....synthetic ain't gonna do nothing for moisture/water in the oil.
-
The reason that the the manufacturers are recommending dinos has nothing to do with heat. They are saying that the synthetics don't allow enough wear to for the gears (or lockers) to break in correctly. this is true on break ins in axles, and engines as well, and i consider fairly common knowledge, i AM speaking of post break in, tests have shown, differentials specifically here, ran hotter while operating w/ synthetic oil. the synthetic oil lubricates slightly better, but tended to trap the heat in the molecules more than regular oil disipated heat better. i am by no means saying synthetic will do harm, but it is not the miracle everyone thinks it is. thanks though.
-
any gl 5 is fine for the axle. no need to get fancy, plane ole 80w90. in case you were considering synthetic, its actually been determined they don't disipate the heat as well, and some other factors that have made gear and locker manufacturers say not to use synthetic.

i still think unimog, there are hundreds of different compilations of them. they came in so many forms who could keep track. obviously the front will tell. i think its an older mog, but i looked throug some pics and didn't see a complete flat front mog.

ya, and jeep forward control seemed to be primarily smaller, not a large group of sizes unimogs come in many different sizes and functions. here's one kinda like that pic http://www.armyvehicles.dk/images/uni416_2.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2017/205 ... ff9a88.jpg
