:smart: i gotta start by saying i've been a professional mecahnic for 8 years now and working on cars for many more, and i am pretty flippin good at electrical probs..... :( that being said.....i was installing a factory fog light harness, but i had to splice in just the fog light parts into my existing headlight harness, cuz the whole donor harness had one bad wire. so i figured i'll just splice the power wire for the relay and the green/black signal wire both for the factory relay, that are built into the factory engine side of the harness but dead end. anywho, i can't imagine what went wrong, i've been over what i did a few times, and i've removed the fog harness. here's whats happening, the ground circuits in the cab, and the circuit off the body ground on left front fender are being shorted, and getting 12 volts w/ the key on, or when i pull the headlight switch, or if i step on the brake pedal. any of these actions will engage the a/c clutch, and also run the fuel pump. :huh???: ya, its kinda cool actually. anyway things i've done that have made no change: pulled every relay pulled the wiring harness apart from firewall to headlights, no melts/shorts removed main bulkhead connector, checked and cleaned removed fuse box under dash, no probs, cleaned removed headlight switch ground (i really thought the switch was shorting power through the ground) but it wasn't disconnected computer disconnected ignition switch (thought that was it, but no change) disconnected headlight sentinal disconnected ever connector i could see just to try and isolate a circuit, still did it no matter what i do. i'm leaning to believe a power wire has to be shorting to a ground wire somewhere burried in the harness, but i was hoping to at least narrow it down. anyone think of anything else? :hmm:

I wonder about these "wondering" questions. They are getting much too numerous. No year or model given, no what gauges you have now, no goal except "better looking XJ gauges". Yet some kind members on this forum still respond. A good example of the caliber of most of the super members on this forum, and a good example of others who throw up questions w/o a clue of what they are asking, don't know how to detail what they are asking, or don't even bother or are too lazy to search the forum so they can ask an intelligent informed question based on the knowledge base readily available by doing a simple search. I don't get it. What is it - instant gratification required w/o any effort from me? Sorry - rant over. :hmm: hey don, can you help me, i was wondering how to put bucket seats in my truck. :rotf: don't worry about it 88pioneer, ask all the questions you want, thats kinda the idea.

^ford guy :brows: j/k but it sounds to me like if you ad up the 13 yrs worth of xj's, and all the grand cherokee's, they don't equal how many 96, 97, 98, or 99 exploders are getting traded in by each year alone.
-
why don't you have a choice? i'll be staying at the park.

:clapping: congrats. great pic with her eyes open, thats pretty good.

ford focus, now there's a fine automobile  ford's answer to the dodge neon, great vehicle for people to be buying :ack: so i was talking to the tool guys today that come by the shop. and when they are disabling the engines, they are supposed to just run them at 2,000 rpm and the junk they put in actually solitifies after it cools down. i still hope someone gets hurt the way they're doing it in the videos we see. also i head a story where they did that before the deal was done, and the salesman came running back to say stop, the financing didn't go through......too late, engine toasted. :shake:

i don't really like goodyear, uniroyal makes a great tire, one of the best truck street tires is michelin ltx. i put them on a ton of trucks and suv's in my shop. general is also made in america last i checked.

Question installing factory fog lamps
jpdocdave replied to jpdocdave's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
thanks guys, i don't have a donor harness. i just had the lights laying around for years. then stumbled on factory switches. then when i looked behind the switch blank i saw that connector, tested it and realized it had to be for fog lights. so all i'm missing right now is wiring under the hood basically. -
wow, congrats man. good luck. when my wife was induced for our first boy, she was in labor for 36 hrs :ack: no epiderral neither  tough girl. we need pics or it didn't happen
