  1. i have installed off set ball joints, and also shims in rear axles, and i've not been happy with the results, so i don't recommend doing it. we have a new top of the line aligner, that actually gives us part numbers and measurements for off set ball joints and shims, for the vehicle that is on the alignment machine based on the current measurements. after charging customers a few hundred bux a pop, and each time the vehicle was still not in spec.
  2. you need to see a printout of the alignment. that looks like you have negative camber. camber is not adjustable on a straight axle truck, and if its out, most tire monkey places will ignore it. i'm assuming you've checked the front end, but it looks like you're replacing all the steering linkages. so after that, get a printout of the alignment, if the alignment is all in, and suspension is tight, you will not eat tires, bottom line. rotate tires every 6k, but thats not the issue now, you do have something seriously wrong. btw, negative camber on both wheels can be caused by jumping the jeep, and bending the front axle. edit: the above post with the alignment link will not help you determine your camber, i think the camber is negative.
  3. ya, i put mine in front of the radiator. imo it doesn't restrict flow, and besides every renix i've owned runs cool. my mj doesn't see 195 in the summer time. i installed my trans temp gauge sender right off the output cooler line, i figured i wanted to know the hottest part of the trans. others said to put it on the return, but i'd rather know how hot it is right as it comes out to be cooled. trans temp stays nice and low most of the time, and i've gotten it up to as much as 210, but very rarely. usual temp runs around 160-180
  4. so you or your dad can't afford it. tell your dad, we can't afford it. you can buy a beater to commute with for the price of one or two payments
  5. i would imagine they're upside down on the 09, unless there was a decent down payment. its a shame, i don't know when this country decided it is normal to be in debt up to your eyeballs. i'm never using debt again, save and pay, thats the only way i'm doing things.
  6. bye bye 2009 car sorry man, but debt just sucks anyway, and you guys are in no position for a bunch of car payments
  7. if thats the case he should've posted a question about his problem. all we can do is answer his question, which was "how do you remove the spider gears"
  8. well maybe a shim got lost, or the bearings are bad, thats all i can think of.
  9. i agree, my mom got a maaco job a while back now, lasted a year.
  10. remove diff cover remove center pin push axles toward center so c clips can be removed pull shafts turn spider gears, and spiders will slide toward open part of carrier and come right out. edit: assuming this is a c clip d35. the older non c clip d35's have 4 nuts behind the drum to unbolt.
  11. your 6's do look like G's
  12. hey, no problem, i didnt read all of what went on here, or what happened to your axle. but if you simply removed the yoke, and can't torque it properly when reinstalling, i'd look at the pinion bearings, they could be bad, and thats whats causing them to over load when simply putting it back together with the same pinion shims. or, they were not installed properly from someone before.
  13. ya, ok
  14. i think its smart, they don't need all the lines. i think that was a huge problem for gm, you could buy the same car with 4 or 5 different badges on it, how can they all do well? now ford can offer a standardized version, and even a high end ford version, and then a decked out lincoln. they had mercury as a mid level for many years now, when you could buy a ford lets say explorer, with all the options, and its the same vehicle. its smart to offer a high end model, but you don't need 5 models of one vehicle like gm did.
  15. i'm a little worried you ran upstairs and found your 80's game boy that fast  :rotf: i find myself with the original 80's mario bros. tune coming out quite often.
  16. wow the pinion nut needs to be torqued to spec on a shimmed axel. if the bearings are being overloaded before the torque is reached, you need to add preload shims. the preload on the pinion needs to be in spec, when the nut is torqued to spec. if you aren't torquing the nut to spec, chances are you will have a failure. simply torquing the nut till the play is gone is just plane bad advice.
  17. they are definitely not obsolete. i consider them mandatory trail equipment, i won't wheel with someone that doesn't have a cb, you gotta communicate on the trail. they're also great in the tow vehicle, so you can keep in contact with the whole convoy at one time if you have a group towing their rigs down. cell phones have replaced them a lot, but a cell phone isn't gonna give you open free contact back and forth with your whole group at once.

i sure would rather hear bisping lose. i will root against him no matter who he fights. he lost the hamill fight, and whenever he's fought a real contender, he loses. who are these guys he keeps fighting. now he's 20 and 4, 19 and 5 in my book. i guess the guy he just fought has a good record, but i never heard of him. and i wish chris leben would have showed up for his fight against bisping, that sucked. so he's had 5 or 6 real fights, oh well.
  20. you do not want a long bed for off road, harder to maneuver tight trails, and poor approach due to the bumper dragging when going up a steep incline. my long bed is a daily driver, and i love having that extra bed space. people around here do wheel the long beds, not that you can't. and mvusse does one sweet job of stuffing that long bed all over the place.
  21. at the very end "what happened?.....did i pop a tire?" naw, yer just stupid.
  22. well, you can't really make 2 different wheel bases on one frame. the frame curves up where the axle sits, so a longer wheel base needs a longer frame.
  23. its been a nice stretch in the midwest, hot in the beginning of the week, its about 75 and sunny right now. i hate winter so much, this is just way better. i gotta move south.

    WTF

  25. location matters as prices vary, but for that price you would be buying a near perfect j truck, it needs to be in very good shape.
