definitely check compression before you buy. those engines have tiny oil passages, and there's a screen in front of the timing chain passages. they have a lot of them getting clogged up, starving the timing chain, or other areas for oil, and causing cam damage, or the timing chain breaks apart.
replacing the motor on that is not fun, and the motors are not cheap. they are really nice jeeps though. just keep in mind they have an internal oiling problem, but that is easily avoided by on time oil changes. but for those that consistantly go 5k and more, they are prone to failure.
