  1. understood, delete the entire posts that have crap in them, and good to go. just my opinion, i'm no mod.
  2. couldn't we have the crap edited out, there was nothing wrong with the thread, and the racial stuff was a detour. i say delete the racial crap and put it back. no need for the whole thing to be gone.
  3. most synthetic gear lubes say approved for limited slip differentials, they are supposed to have proper modifiers and all in them already. i'm told they can be filled with this, and good to go.
  4. i want a perfect factory extended cab mj, looking like it came off the line that way, high output 4.0, small lift on 31's, done. why the crap didn't they make and extended cab??

    road trip

so gas is almost $4/ gallon up there? :ack: i remember that.
  6. so....do you think its possible.......that giving primarily lower income customers, that are driving vehicles worth a $200 to maybe $2,000 a nice big shiny incentive to sign up for a $400/month payment wasn't such a good idea??? i mean, were they actually driving those vehicles because for the most part, they couldn't afford a new vehicle? so, more debt isn't a good thing? very very few people that "took advantage" of cash 4 clunkers, needed a new car, or were in a good position to buy one. just like this energy efficient household appliance credit we had. all the sudden people flocked to the appliance store to buy a new washer and dryer :shake: so, they had been saving up because their appliances were getting old right? or all the sudden they heard on the radio they get a tax deduction, and go apply for a best buy card  oh, and the only info i saw on energy effecient savings was like a few hundred bux over the life of the appliance, whatever that means. so run out and buy a new one, and save money......like $75 a year, which i wonder if anyone is paying more interest than that to best buy right now?? :dunno:
  7. nope, that is not a gear ratio
  8. welcome, and bummer first post. yes, the axles have to come out before the carrier does. honestly, find out what gear ratio you have, and just swap in another axle. from the sounds of it, you are not ready to install a new ring and pinion, if thats what it is. but, if its just the spider gears, you're in way better shape. let us know.
  9. man, i can't believe you haven't upgraded that yet

    31 10.50/15

dunno first hand, but have been told by some old cj/military guys that they suck on pavement.
  11. i would've figured having some gears on the trail would be a good thing. i'm no biker, i have a nice mountain bike though, i won it in a raffle. it sure is nice having different speeds.
  12. 200 is a good price
  13.
  14. needs a two speed t case :D
  15. thats getting close to qualifying for that scary steering website.
  16. ya but the problem is the rpm's staying up there, and the cases i'm talking about are completely intermittent. happens once a week, or once a month. and when it happens, shut it off, restart and its fine. sometimes it takes a couple restarts, but then thats it, back to normal.
  17. if you cover them make sure its the right type of cover. i know with most other things, like motorcycles and such, the wrong cover will hold the moisture inside, and be worse than no cover. moisture is inevitable.

    diesel ?

i say buy it also, but pat is the resident diesel mj expert. it appears they are difficult to maintain, and to find parts for. it is not going to be easy to get the work done that it will need, and it will not be easy to keep it on the road.
  19. :rotf: no apology needed, i've had a head cold for a weak and i'm pissy myself the best lesson i've ever learned is i don't know as much as i think i do. as long as you keep that attitude, you'll keep learning. when i thought i knew it all, that kinda makes it hard to learn.
  20. honestly i was more concerned about how no matter what gets posted, someone is an expert on how, something irrelevant to the thread, isn't right. and it wasn't directed at anyone. and no where did i talk about myself in any of it, nor do i make a habit of it. i appreciate you saying that though, because if i do bring myself up it is subconscious. i'm gonna try to remember that. i don't think people would say i go around talking about myself, i don't roll that way. but it is funny that you bash me for talking about what i do, and the next paragraph you do the same  < joke :rotf: all in good fun :D
  21. very cool rob wow, suddenly everyone turns wrenches for a living  don't worry about how rob installed a wheel. there's no need to use a torque wrench after torquing wheels down with a torque stick  . and yes, they need to be calibrated to your gun, big deal, or that is, your gun needs to be set to it. i saw a thread somewhere, not sure if it was here, with all sorts of people going on and on about impact guns, and wheels, and blah blah blah. and how this is so bad, or that. it was nuts, none of them were certified technicians. i just bit my lip and shook my head. that torque stick, with the proper setting for that gun, can be hammered on that wheel all day long, it won't let it exceed the torque. its a torsion bar that only allows so much torque, just like any other torsion bar, on a tank, or on a gm truck. and yes, in the wrong hands, certain tools are dangerous, this is true of most anything. don't worry about rob and his tools  over. proceed :D
  22. so we're looking at a 1500 jeep here, 2000 tops.
  23. the other thing that drives me nuts is any of these types of vehicles on a car lot either got traded in, or bought at auction for nothing.
  24. dealers are nuts. a local chevy dealer here has a "1979 jeep wrangler" listed. so i clicked on it, and its a cj 5, in ok shape, nothing special. $7900
