  1. I had a similar issue when I did my 4x4 front end install with new steering parts. They werent Moog, though. They were improperly machined froim the factory and wouldnt allow proper steering movement. I had to swap them out for another set to get it right.
  2. Thanks for the help guys. And onlyinajeep, Ill keep you in mind, but Ill probably just order new. I appreciate the offer. Youre only about 2 hours from me!
  3. Ive done the JK takeoffs. They are about an inch longer than stock and will require minor modding to make them fit. The JK Rubi and regular JK shocks are the same length so it shouldnt matter which ones you get. For mine with 2wd rear springs and longer shackles the rear JK shocks are a small bit too short, but work fine for normal driving and hauling and ride great.
  4. I didnt even think about that, I still have my donor truck that I got the trans and case from. New would be nice though. That way the donor would still have one for when or if I build it. I have it in my mind to build it for my daughter down the road. Time will tell.
  5. Working to finally get my 4x4 conversion linkage installed and remembered that I still need a speedo cable. The original 2wd one is too short to hook up, but when I go to rockauto or anywhere else, there is only one part listed. Just FYI, I have a 1987 2.5, AX5, NP207 combo. Does anyone happen to have a correct part number to narrow my search, or do I just order the only one listed and hope its right? Thanks for the help!
  6. I just got two sets of spidertrax from Quadratec at regular price, but with no tax and free shipping. I didnt want to skimp in this area. Its cheap insurance to just get the good ones. I did look at all the others though and even looked at the generic non hub centric ones from the wheel place here in town.... I just didnt like the way they looked. If they are that cheap looking, how cheaply are they made to begin with? The Spidertrax looked awesome, and made in the USA. can't go wrong.... I hope.
  7. It was originally sold to the militay in Switzerland. I PM'd your build sheet. Have fun! Make sure to add your build date to the 92 registry. 4-24-92! One of the last ones ever!
  8. If you post your VIN or PM it to me, Ill run you a build sheet, not that it will tell you much. The above posts are pretty much right on.
  9. I hope you can decipher that, they don't copy and paste like they used to.

  11. You can't use the front doors on that one, but it looks like a good find. Good luck, keep us updated.
  12. My 2.5 has a gutted and sleeved cat, and a Flowmaster 50 Series muffler with stock 2 1/4" tailpipe. No rasp, mostly quiet at idle with a nice growl under load. I love it.
  13. The internal and external slave bell housing for the ax4 and ax5 are the same. I found this out recently when I did the same to mine. I'm not sure if its possible to find the conversion parts though without a full donor. You'll need the slave spacer and studs. The throwout arm and pivot. The slave plastic pivot that goes on the end of the slave pushrod. I might be missing a part but that will be close enough to get you started. Might just be easier to find a complete donor.
  14. Chrysler 300, Dodge Magnum, and Dodge Chargers have 17" stock steelies in a bullethole pattern, and 18" Cop car steelies in a 5 spoke design and then all the other aluminum rims and sizes. They are 5-4 1/2 with the correct hub centric size as well. These would be good candidates. Ive seen a few guys on Naxja running the 17" steelies with no issues.
  15. I'm working on some new pics and a build update, so Ill put something up here soon. Have to show off my new JK wheels!
  16. To them articulation doesnt matter as long as the axle is locked and ABS and traction control can keep the unlocked ones moving.
  17. You need to pull it apart to check everything, sounds like it could be a broken flexplate. Will the engine fire back up or does the starter just spin? If it won't crank over, but the starter spins, it could be a bad flexplate, that would be good for you as its an easy fix. Good luck, let us know what you find.
  18. There is another thread... called "Random Comanches found on the internet"
  19. YES, that was one of the most awesome things Ive ever seen them do. They got that thing to 1100 MPH! One of the best shows on TV right there.
  20. It will have the 9 speed , and the engines will most likely be the 2.4 multiair Tigershark, and maybe the 1.4 Multiair turbo , with a possible diesel option. This thing is just taking the place of the Compass Patriot, its not like we are getting another incapable Jeep. I agree some Subaru competitors would be cool as long as they are done right. I still love the look of the Eagles... a regular car, but with bigger wheels and tires and 4wd. As a kid I thought those things were badass. My grandfather had one at one point, also had a Cherokee Cheif (SJ) as well, but we didnt go around him much when I was young so I really didnt get to know or ride in those vehicles. They are just ingrained into my psyche though. Anyways, I think too much is being made of this. When they finally announce that the next Wrangler will be full independant suspension, then we can freak out!
  21. You are crazy! For what youll be spending to get the YJ motor and then add a fuel injection system to it, you could buy a NICE complete running XJ donor and swap it all over to the MJ and do it RIGHT. Fot that money you could find a late model with OBDII and the updated front end and have a bonus sheet metal and door update with the engine and wiring... and interior too!!! I'm not trying to be mean, but what youre planning just doesnt make any sense. Sorry.
  22. Welcome to the site. Plenty of clean rust free MJ's in NC too. I assume youll be going to Bragg, or do you have residence here? Aanyways, good luck, and we look forward to your build.
  23. HB is Harmonic Balancer. If it is slipping around the rubber isolator, it will cause this loss of turning for all the accessories.
  24. Just FYI... the 2.5 and 2.8 radiators are the same but the shrouds are different due to water pump location.
  25. ^^^ That reminds me... 1986 Jeep Grand Wagoneer: Busted a front leaf spring which broke the brake line losing front brakes... had just enough rears to stop before going through an intersection.
