  1. I have done one of the wrangler recalls. As far as I know those parts are still available. I kept the old part to use as comparison bit have yet to compare. My park brake still works after 352,000 miles so I have yet to need to compare. But just looking at it it appears that it wouldn't take much to adapt one.
  2. The original recall was in 86. All park brake assemblies made thereafter were the newer superceded parts. There was no recall of the 87 and up models therefore there is no reason for them to do anything about this. Add to that few if any records carried over from AMC and I have to agree that this is an exercise in futility. Especially considering that the park brake assemblies are no longer available. If you get anywhere with this through Chrysler I will be pleasantly surprised.
  3. I only put this here because its funny and unrealistic, but NADA Guides classic car valuation puts it between $2600- $8600 depending on condition.
  4. Ive been wondering this myself. I even began to look into it a little, but didnt get very far. we need to figure out if the TPS sweep voltages are the same or similar, and if the injector voltage is the same. The other issue is if the stock PCM can handle firing 2 injectors instead of one or if a relay system would work or be fast enough for it to work. I think injector pulsewidth is mostly controlled by the O2 sensor and temp sensors so for a two barrel pulsewidth should be much smaller than with a one barrel. I'm looking at rebuilding a spare 2.5 I have in the near future and want to do some performance upgrades and if I could find a manifold or modify the original to work something like this it would be awesome.   5. here's a couple pics of similar systems. The first is the VW motor I built for my 1959 VW Bus. I had almost $5000 in the motor and trans alone. This setup has 4-48mm throttle bodies with port injection and it would run like STINK! I should never have sold that thing. The second is a rat rod a saw at a show...most beautiful straight 6 Ive ever seen.
  6. Before the cables get adjusted you need to adjust your rear brake shoes, this is most likely your issue. A clean and adjust of the rear brakes will m ake a world of difference.
  7. Ive read on here in the past that Chevy S-10 tailgate handles are the same. Might be worth some research.
  8. I recently found a deal on 10-11 gallons of SJ rated 15-40 diesel motor oil that I started using in my 2.5. I too agree that something heavier and with good zinc content would be good for you. Anything SL rated or earlier will have the needed zinc. I wouldnt be too worried about it either, With that many miles just keep running it and caring for it like normal till it tells you otherwise.

  10. I have never understood the need for a midsize truck.You either need a big truck or a small truck, this in between stuff is just stupid to me. Most midsize trucks get the same milage as a full size. And the small beds... 5 ft or 6ft??? I understand todays truck market is different than in the past, but things are getting stupid. The Dakota got so big that you may as well have bought a ram, the Colorado/ S-10 is also bigger than in the past and the same goes for Toyota. And now that the Ranger is gone there isnt much left. Dodge is seriously talking about a new small truck to fill out their commercial lineup, but thats another year or so out. I guess maybe I'm just getting old. The times as a kid riding in the middle on the bench in my dads 72 Chevy, or the Luv he had after that or the 85 Ranger he bought new were some of the best memories as a kid. Must be why I love regular cabs so much. The simplicity, the affordability.... I guess I just miss the time when stuff like that was common.

  12. Being an auto proffesional, I too have never heard of r142... maybe you guys are guys thinking it wrong? R134a conversions are commonplace. All it needs are the new fittings, and a long vacuum time to make sure all the old stuff is out. And just FYI... R134a is on its way out as well. It is being replaced with R1234yf. The pressures are similar and older systems should be easy to convert to the new stuff when the time comes. There have been questions of its flamability during a crash, but the only people that got it to catch fire were the same ones who had developed their own refrigerant system and were trying to get it certified... Merceded Benz. Their refrigerant is CO2, and the pressures it takes to get it to cool are MUCH higher and put more drag on the system. Sorry... off topic.
  13. Gearing and width will also be a consideration, might try looking at a Blazer or S-10 forum for info on these axles and if they are worth the hassel or not.
  14. Neither the 207 or 228 are good cases. I had a 228 blow up on me just driving down the street at 30 mph. Find something different.
  15. I fabbed mounts to install a Cherokee rear bumper. It doesnt have the step but it looks good. I just trimmed the end caps to fit around the end of the bed. I have since made a plate bracket as well.
  16. Once you do all these mods, you'll then be wanting for power again, even with the regear. I have a 2.5 with four.10 gearing and really notice when I have a little weight in it... makes a big difference. I'm getting ready to install a set of JK take off wheels and am not looking forward to the loss of what little power I have. I have done a couple of upgrades to the engine. Ive 'freeflowed" the cat conv, added a Flowmaster 50 series muffler, removed the engine driven fan and install a thermostatic controlled electric one, and did a "cold" air intake tube (modified from another vehicle). These all helped a little but you may still not be happy. Just remember that its only a 2.5, the little (older) brother of the 4.0. It will get you where you want to go, eventually!
  17. The part number in the document is not listed, probably because its an AMC number, but going off the previously listed pn and its superscession pn, there are none available anywhere. Not sure how far youre going to get with this.

  19. Checked through all the old books, neither of those recalls are listed. And as I said, the number comes up in a recall search on Chrysler, but no description is aavailable. A google search find nothing either except for a thread from here in 2008 http://comancheclub.com/topic/11549-recall-code-946-t/ . You may email back to mellissa and ask for a copy of the recall description to give to the dealer. The description will have part numbers, LOP codes and flat rate times on it so the dealer can get paid.

  21. I have no info on the housing, but here are some other stats. gear ratio 2:73 low range 2:91 ring gear diameter 6.5 inch /165mm
  22. The rear locker in this unit is actuated by using a sliding collar while in low range only. Similar to the front axle disconnect on our Dana 30's. There does not appear to be any give to it when actuated. The info I'm giving is not PR, it is internal only info used to train us dealer techs.
  23. Just FYI on the new KL 4wd system. This vehicle does not use a simulated low range like the old Compass. There are 3 different 4wd systems available. An AWD unit, a selectable 4wd unit with mechanical low range, and a 4wd unit with mechanical low range and selectable rear locker. The way they get low range is through seperate planetary gearsets in each front and rear diff unit. The front transfer unit has a planetary that when engaged offers low range to both front wheels, same for the rear. Then the rear has a selectable E-locker if equipped. This info is straight from Chryslers 2014 New technology training course I did back in September.
  24. Your VIN is NOT in Chryslers system at all. It comes up as VIN not found. With this, like was said, time to go up the ladder of Chrysler managment.
  25. Speaking of recalls of recalls... Jeep WJ Grand Cherokees with the heated leather seats had a recall of a recall. Ive done may of them that get their 3rd set of heated seat elements. If the customer could see what the underside of some of those seat covers look like, they would never drive their Jeep again! Or at least unplug the wires to the seat elements. There was even some that burned all the way through and zapped people in their butts. Those cases got new seat covers too.
