  1. I'm referring to the u-joint that connects to the rear axle. putting it in backwards can lead to vibes. u-joints don't like change.
  2. do make sure the u-joint goes back into the yoke in the exact same orientation it is now.
  3. send me a PM with the email you want to use and I'll see what I can do.
  4. they changed the views on me. now there's a minivan in the driveway instead of my 88. :(
  5. neat :D I doubt there's enough interest to justify the investment, but I'll ask my supplier about costs on monday.
  6. yup. upgrading the rear axle goes well with lifting. :D

    New guy!

a pair just sold on ebay for several hundred. and welcome to the club! :waving:
  8. that should be easy enough to test. flex out the rear and see how much goes in.
  9. Your driveshaft looks too short to me. see all that shiny area? that use to be on the other side of the seal.
  10. a coozie with a magnet in it? :hmm: I'd go here and start begging Aaron for a stay of deadline if you want a shirt: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=36041&p=358640#p358640
  11. If it's an automatic behind a 4.0, then it's an AW-4.
  12. and fyi it is generally considered poor taste in the internet world to bump your post so quickly. just so you know.
  13. A Chiltons or Haynes manual should give you the step-by-step on yanking the trans. I don't know of a writeup online for the 2.8/auto. I agree with Eagle that this is more or less a bandaid on an old engine. If one plug goes, the others are likely well on their way. if it was my rig, I'd yank the engine for a low mileage 3.1/3.4. Same level of work, but it should give many years of trouble-free service afterwords.
  14. Got mine!
  15. dunno yet. Been out of town for weeks now. Will be home later today though. :D
  16. No need to get that crazy. You just need to jack up the passenger front tire. Fire up the truck (so there's plenty of vacuum), and shift into 4wd. if the CAD is engaged, the tire won't spin. if the CAD is disengaged, the tire will spin freely.
  17. I like it. Though I do miss that green color. favorite MJ color ever. don't let yourself get too worked up over it Rob, the unicorn can always be repainted. There' a big difference between a survivor and a restoration. Once it's no longer a survivor, it can be whatever the current owner wants and it's still the same truck, a restored 92 MJ. If you won the lotto and bought it back, you could always just redo the restoration. I'm ecstatic that the time and effort was put into it rather than letting it rot away or get crushed.
  18. The speed limit. :D Seriously though, it won't affect anything unless your front driveshaft U-joints are bad.
  19. simplest and fastest fix for your predicament might be just getting a functional 2.5L block and swapping that in. any FI Jeep 2.5L can be a donor.
  20. sorry. guess I was thinking about southeast Michigan weather. we tend not to see salt 'til late December, if then.
  21. I'd love to do something this fall, but my schedule has me going back and forth between GA and MI so I don't yet know when I could. :dunno: Early November might be sweet.
  22. 4wd is controlled by your t-case. all the CAD mod does is make your Jeep like any later Jeep. They got rid of the silly thing in the early 90s. The only possible downfall is that if your front driveshaft has a bad U-joint, you'll know it. Not really a bad thing though, since you should replace a bad ujoint anyways.
  23. chances are good it's your CAD messing up. best bet is to rid yourself of its drama once and for all:  viewtopic.php?f=9&t=18415
