  1. the voltmeter and switches arrived today. :D working on a plan for some front recovery points: and you knew this was coming...
  2. never have I worked so hard for so little...
  3. 3" starts to need all sorts of stuff (longer track bar, shocks, brakelines, etc). 2" just needs spacers and either an AAL rear or the chevy shackle. and 31s can be run on a stock MJ as long as you stick with Jeep rims so a whole 3" isn't needed.
  4. :hmm: shows up for me. :dunno: nothing special, just a map of the roman empire circa 337 ad.
  5. mounted a "spare" tire (it's only a 10 incher), real taillights (not wired up yet), and fabbed a hitch for the eventual trailer. added some pieces of plywood to support the hitch and spare. later they will be swapped out for something more weather resistant. and wrapped the main hoop with foam.
  6. AX-5s should be easy to find. any 2.5 from 84-whenever they died, on any MJ/XJ/TJ/YJ will work. try car-part.com and be sure to search for various years of the various models. there are slight changes hear and there that might change the part number (car-part only searches by part number) but any year will work.
  7. then it'll bolt up. I know you'll need the trans wire harness. hopefully someone more knowledgeable will provide specifics. but be prepared that the auto trans is notorious for sapping what little power the 2.5 can muster. there's a reason why Jeep killed it off while the rest of the country was killing off the manual transmission.
  8. is the auto trans from a 4.0L or 2.5L?
  9. factory Jeep ones are best.

haha! :rotf: no. no kids on the way (that I know of :peek: ) it's just that August was the first time I didn't turn the calender page on time and, sure enough, it's my truck on it.
  12. I can see the photos. :dunno: make sure your computer is accepting cookies from the photos' host site.
  13. no. 4wd is still controlled by your t-case lever. this mod simply makes your 2-piece axle shaft into a 1 piece axle shaft. The CAD was a well-meaning attempt by Jeep to try and gain MPGs and reduce wear. Too bad it does neither and just causes headaches for owners. :shake: all Jeeps after the early 90s have a one-piece axle shaft (with the 95 YJ being the last one).

finally flipped over to August on my Comanche Club calender... 22 days late... :shake: oh well. :rotf:
  15. rule #3: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16664 :D
  16. 4.10s at least. but regearing is an expensive proposition (300-500 per axle). Usually a better option is finding junkyard axles with the gears you want. 4.10s are usually found in 2.5L/5speed XJ/MJ fronts. and 4.10s are fairly common in Explorer 8.8 rear axles. also, 33x10.5" tires are much easier to fit than 33x12.5". WJ arms work for lifts up to 2", maybe 3" if your truck has enough adjustment in the control arm mounts. They are the same length as MJ LCAs, but have a bend in them for tire clearance.
  17. just my 2 cents but for a daily driver (without regearing) I would go with: 2" pucks up front Chevy drop shackles int eh rear WJ control arms 31" tires You're going to hate those 3.07s
  18. nah. they would hit the back of his head as he got older. but eventually I intend to put some spot lights on the front bumper.
  19. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=18415 Do this and all those vacuum lines are rendered pointless. don't worry, 4wd is still controlled by your t-case. this mod will just make your truck like any Jeep after the early 90s with a one-piece shaft up there.
  20. planning on changing gears in the axles?
  21. Have you bypassed the CAD in the front axle yet?

    oh crap !!!!

it wasn't the "air" part of the intake that failed. Ford tried to integrate the coolant crossover (previously made of aluminum) into the rest of the plastic and did it in, um, poorly.
