    bait car

just heard a cop on baitcar that renewed my faith in humanity a little. apparently the car gets taken only 1 of ten times which means the vast majority of the time NOBODY takes the car. also, just saw this pass by in the background on baitcar Atlanta: :D
  2. checked for vacuum leaks around the intake/exhaust manifolds? those tend to appear after the engine warms up.
  3. um, are you suggesting that XJ seats will bolt in without MJ floor brackets attached?
  4. only MJ bucket seats bolt in with no mods whatsoever. even XJ seats will require adaptation to the MJ floor brackets.
  5. you'll need to keep the floor brackets and adapt your seats to them. be aware that MJ bench seat seatbelts don't have the sheath around them on the female side that holds them up like bucket seat seatbelts. oh, and MJ seats all fold forwards so you might want that feature in your new seats. not all cars do.
  6. when you're done, you should tally it all up in a DIY thread.
  7. I opened the mailbox and couldn't help but notice your truck on the cover of JP.
  8. very nice work  great to see a ZJ getting some love.
  9. they are exactly in the stock location in that pic, right below the leafs. only the axle has moved. my experience is that stock shocks in the stock location are too short at full droop and too long if the bumpstops aren't adjusted. not all shocks are the same though, so you'll need to check for yourself.

Alaska state troopers come through with an MJ :D looks rough, but it might be reasonably rust free

hahahahahahaa..... :rotfl2: I just watched them lose the bait car for a couple hours. been watching a lot of Alaska State troopers lately too. probably more to do with when I'm awake than anything else. favorite 'Cops'-type show is still Border Wars. hilarious what the bad guys will do to try and disguise the scent of drugs from the dogs. coffee, grease, wraps and wraps of plastic... none of it matters. you might as well just throw it in a cardboard box in the back seat. :rotf: following that EOD unit in Afghanistan was pretty sweet too. don't remember the show name though.
  12. ewwwww...... that thing has hanta virus written all over it. :ack: but I'm glad the floors are in decent shape. :D I'll move this over to the "other projects" forum for ya.
  13. there's no minimum post count for posting pictures. what site are you using to host them?
  14. the mods and I have been in discussions about this off and on. So far our concerns about the drawbacks have outweighed the possible benefits. in a perfect world feedback would be great, but in the real world the mods and I would have to deal with any negative feedback and the truthfulness of it all. I've had to endure plenty of headaches from the classifieds already and am not looking to take on more at this time. we've had problems with members who were new, we've had problems with members who were much more established. the vast majority of members here are upstanding guys, but everyone should treat it more like craigslist. if it helps, members who don't hold up their end of a deal are given a shot to rectify the situation and if they don't, they are toast.
  15. have someone saw the steering wheel back and forth quickly while you look for any sloppy movement in all the steering linkages and track bar.
  16. if that axle is from an XJ, make doubly sure that he moved the leaf perches to MJ width. otherwise your leaf bushings will fail. :(
  17. based on the wrinkles in the sheetmetal and the, um, quality of the woodwork it almost looks like a late-night I-gotta-drive-to-work-tomorrow kind of fix.
  18. I wish I could make it go away, but I don't have the skills to change code.
  19. nice :D and yes, that is a peugeot.
  20. yeah, bumpers need more support than just those 6 bolts if they are ever to be yanked on. unlike wranglers, that's all just sheetmetal in that frame. I would avoid RRO (have a history of poor quality and bad service) and go for rubicon express or rouch country drop brackets.
  21. front axle or rear?
  22. welcome to the addiction! . :MJ 1: . got any photos yet?
  23. checked the fuse?

nice. :rotf: I just can't find any sympathy for thieves. which is weird to me because I generally have great sympathy for the afflicted and downtrodden of this world... except for thieves. god help you if you steal my stuff. :fs1:
