  1. nothing says "I live in florida" like pics of you painting outside in January. looks good!
  2. overkill. 2" pucks and a longer shackles and you're essentially done. plus you're so little into the investment that you can change your mind later.
  3. gotta define "offroading". that most definitely means different things to different people. for me, a 2" lift, 31s, and a rear locker would take me most anywhere I want to go. then I'd spend money on rocker guards and bumpers. 32s are only 1/2" more ground clearance over 31s but bring more headaches.
  4. what are your goals for the truck? tire size?
  5. keep fantasizing. 7k ain't going to happen with stock-ish lifters. they start floating and are more or less a factory rev limiter.

I totally understand not wanting to do a full resto. had the same quandary with my MJ trailer and went with a simple "refresh" on the bed so I'll never hesitate using it as the work trailer that it is.
  7. I literally bought a whole MJ to get a 21 slot grille. (or at least the whole shell of an MJ)
  8. well, ya can't look futuristic if you look like everything else on the road. though apparently the future is more... angular than I figured it'd be.
  9. should be pretty straight forward, yes? my first thought was to suggest looking for S-10 videos on youtube, but they would be IFS and probably super complicated compared to our trucks. jack up truck, let suspension droop (remove tires if needed to let the axle drop further), then go to town on the bolts. the oil pan was one of the things I didn't have to do on my old 86, but I've done a few 4.0Ls and cleaning off the ancient gasket material is the hardest part. I used a combination of razor scraper and painter's 5-way scraper. if a rubber oil pan gasket exists, definitely get that rather than another cork gasket.

I've gone through and edited the common mistakes in the list. for example you don't have a 20gal tank (likely a 23) and the ratio wasn't that weird number but likely 4.10. most of it was accurate though. and lengthy. usually there's more info that's been lost for the 86-88 years. you're very lucky!
  15. I've got one of these. stiff cardboard backed. makes for some very nice art once framed. https://www.ebay.com/itm/325951804331
  16. I should have one. got a bunch of cordovan things in the barn. but I'm not back in town until the 9th.

97+ XJ front glass is the same. aftermarket slider rear windows are no longer available new. this is a recent discovery though, and it might be possible to find a reseller out there that has one left. but I'm not exactly beaming with positivity on that.
  18. long as it has an internal amp. once upon a time the radio in my KJ died right before a 12 hour drive north so I bought the absolute cheapest head unit I could locate and then learned it wasn't capable of becoming loud enough to be heard on the freeway.
  19. aaaaaannnnnnnd there's a new playlist in the making. how on earth did I not think of looking for metal xmas songs before

lolololololol youtube apparently added a cookie that I hadn't approved yet. I see them now. crisis averted?
  21. can you rotate the crank manually? if it's hydro-ed, it most definitely won't.
