that's a bit of a complicated question because a ton isn't much more than normal truck can carry. true one-ton fullsize truck can carry way more (7k#+). on one hand, to haul a ton in the bed you technically don't have to do anything aside from the usual Metric ton features (stiffer springs, stiffer shocks, better rear axle, and steel rims). that's rated for carrying 2200 pounds right there (assuming everything is in excellent condition of course). on the other hand, there's no legal way to carry that much if your truck was rated for the lesser amount. max weight from the factory is max weight for life. the law and your insurance company don't care if you've improved everything little thing. on the other-other hand, we all like upgrades and better performance! so there's a ton (pun intended) of the usual you can do including: better gear ratio and the dual brake booster (tops of my list), plus later model (aka bigger) ujoints/shafts in the front axle, the WJ brake conversion with hi-steer arms, v8 ZJ steering bits for tougher stock steering, disk brake conversion on whatever axle you pick for the rear, WJ control arms, and a big fat trans cooler if you have an auto. the internal upgrades to the t-case are super cool, but won't really help much when hauling 2200 pounds as you won't very likely be using 4wd at the same time. or if you are, it's for a super short time trying to get off of the wet gravel next to the pavement. The stock t-case is already rated for such a thing. but on the other-other-other hand, I've been planning on the same upgrades for my wheeler.

moved to tech for ya. do check your valve cover first, as leaks at the back can look like an RMS leak. there's a writeup in the link in my signature for bypassing the CAD (central axle disconnect) once and for all and then you can remove most all the lines down there.

I've always wondered if adding lighting rods at the tops of a smattering of mountains and hills could reduce the number of fires started this time of year. (note that I didn't state that would be an especially easy task).

so far so good here, I guess. School has started up for my nephews so that's... fun. My sister is a grade school teacher so that's extra fun. she's got both in-school and at-home kids so the workload has increased dramatically but I'm sure once she (and the at-home kids) gets used to it it'll be less of a hassle. My grandma got her roommate back so at least she has someone to talk to again. It's hard to say it, but I think her degrading mental faculties have been almost a blessing for her. I know that other nursing home residents are going nuts with the boredom. My folks have gotten pretty good at using their computers. I mean, my mom can actually bring up a browser and search google for basic things! She's a legit technophobe so this is a huge step forward. Our church has started up services again. all outdoors with masks and separation of households and such. the stores around here are instituting mask policies so my mom feels comfortable enough to venture out on her own each week. oh and of course Dad's cancer is back again , but this time it's just a small nodule that they are going to zap with what's called a "gamma knife" and he'll be on a once-a-month shot that is supposed to suppress any more growth. most importantly, no surgery this time! the doctors are all getting into video conferencing too and so he only goes to the hospital when he gets treatment. Mom loves this because she can now be there for the chats with the doctors where-as a little bit ago only patients were allowed into the buildings. of course hockey and baseball are going strong so my mom is ecstatic about that. I'm glad the teams have all found a way to make it happen, but it's still weird to hear "crowd noises" when I know there isn't a soul in the stands. oh and my folks went camping last week. met up with friends from NC and just relaxed outdoors for a few days. on the less positive side of things, I just got word on facebook that James DeWhitt's (an OG CC member) roommate has come down with covid, but james himself has tested negative. He's now trying to find alternate housing for the next 2 weeks.

I don't know for sure, but I'd wager that both will work. there are a plethora of injectors out there that will have 4 hole but not too much of a flow rate (neons and volvos come to mind). for some reason fuel injectors are remarkably interchangeable (outer dimensions at least) across time and space and brands. (meanwhile I had to go buy a 7mm and 11mm allen wrenches to do the brake pads on the Durango and when I finally need to do the rotors, I gotta buy a giant reverse torx! )

all that hard work was totally worth it good for another 30 years!

so one of my crappy tires on the turbines has a slow leak so I traded them out for a pair of my Rubicons. I like it. can't wait to pull it with the Liberty!
