    Happy New Year

    so far so good!
  2. I've had a pair of pre-production lenses for a while now. when a random company asks if they can send a free sample of new MJ parts for your opinion, you don't say no. but I wasn't able to share anything with y'all until the lenses were fully available.
  3. this is what I mean by shackle inversion. if the shackle is too short, or the leaf is too short, the shackle can actually move forward after full droop.
  4. I simply added a new leaf between the main and the one below it to provide support.
  5. cutting down a shaft shouldn't be much money at all. mine was like $40. but I'd say around 4 inches should be enough to balance out that inch of extra snout.
  6. my biggest concern is that the shackle angle will be wrong and it might invert when the truck comes down off a lift or flexing offroad. if you keep your main leaf, you can swap all sorts of packs under them. what is it that you want the new packs to do? lift? greater capacity?
  7. so this number came out in a FB conversation with Key Parts. apparently if you're in the parts business you can pay for VIO (vehicles in operation) numbers from the government. this can be state, regional or continent wide. 18,600 refers to the number of registered MJs in the US and Canada. obviously there are others in Mexico and abroad and in peoples backyards, so it's not the true number of MJs left, but it's a bit scary to me that it's so small. essentially we're down to ~10%.
  8. I could totally see myself doing this...
  9. shiny!
  10. just single layer
  11. certainly sounds worthwhile enough to investigate.
  12. oh, I absolutely got it. it's just pouring rain so I don't have a picture of mine. p.s. it's still pouring rain outside. stupid gulf of mexico weather fronts
  13. not sure what the weight rating is on that trailer...
  14. always be sure to properly secure to your tie down points.
  15. the pic isn't of mine, but it's the same thing. not sure if I've ever seen one before. has a cutout in the back that lines up with the rear cargo cubby for maximum storage space. pretty neat! I went out for a relaxing junkyard day to check out 6 XJs at 4 yards, but ended up striking out and coming home with a bunch of KJ parts instead.
  16. they are different, but they are very nice looking. NOS on the right. replacement on the left (loosely held to an empty housing). I'll try to snap some pics in the sunshine tomorrow (assuming GA gets any sunshine tomorrow)
  17. take very good care with that rubber trim. they aren't available new. you can also just ignore it. doesn't hurt anything as long as the upper bit doesn't collect tree particulates.
  18. I've seen your window brand fit flush to the cab, so I think this is more an issue with your installer.
  19. nope. factory were all 3.
  20. is the foam material saturated? is it dripping down to that spot, or oozing up from the foam? literally anything and everything that could leak, has leaked for someone. the windshield is always a prime suspect.
  21. been there, done that.
