Reproduction Fed Label and Vin Door Sticker
Pete M replied to boxyjeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
snag spare parts before you leave! -
gluing together headlights and tailights is fairly common (for light upgrades). I'd wager you'll find several methods at youtube random pics of the housing I have. trying to show what it's like with the lens removed. keep in mind the one reflector is missing.

yup. the suspensions are essentially the same.

maybe not nearly as bad as Eagle's going to feel once he realizes he's inadvertently corrected him twice. happens to the best of us (on both accounts). -
even with the steep-ish price, I do feel people will be happy with them. I look forward to the various how-to vids that I'm sure are coming (this housing came to me broken apart. my luck with using heat has not been stellar and so I've stopped trying.)

don't know but I'll move it over for ya.

oh, and I got these guys for my folks it's a real shame they don't talk. that'd be awesome if they spouted random jokes as people walked by.

please ignore the missing reflector inside the disassembled housing. this was the only housing I have that has a perfectly clean mating surface for the new lens and I haven't yet stolen the reflector from one of my smashed housings. and as much as I want to show it lit up, that just isn't in the cards at the moment. but enough of that, here are my outside comparison shots. black trim is the NOS housing.

I've had a pair of pre-production lenses for a while now. when a random company asks if they can send a free sample of new MJ parts for your opinion, you don't say no. but I wasn't able to share anything with y'all until the lenses were fully available.

Using K30/3500 (GM 1-ton) Leaf Packs
Pete M replied to howeitsdone's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
this is what I mean by shackle inversion. if the shackle is too short, or the leaf is too short, the shackle can actually move forward after full droop. -

cutting down a shaft shouldn't be much money at all. mine was like $40. but I'd say around 4 inches should be enough to balance out that inch of extra snout. -
Using K30/3500 (GM 1-ton) Leaf Packs
Pete M replied to howeitsdone's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
my biggest concern is that the shackle angle will be wrong and it might invert when the truck comes down off a lift or flexing offroad. if you keep your main leaf, you can swap all sorts of packs under them. what is it that you want the new packs to do? lift? greater capacity? -
so this number came out in a FB conversation with Key Parts. apparently if you're in the parts business you can pay for VIO (vehicles in operation) numbers from the government. this can be state, regional or continent wide. 18,600 refers to the number of registered MJs in the US and Canada. obviously there are others in Mexico and abroad and in peoples backyards, so it's not the true number of MJs left, but it's a bit scary to me that it's so small. essentially we're down to ~10%.
