Have you cleaned the throttle body area? Make sure you use a cleaner that says it's safe for throttle bodies. Pure carb cleaner can wreck havoc on the 02 sensor.
An AX-15 needs an AX-15 mount. Don't worry, it's easy to tell the difference. If it costs an arm, a leg, and a kidney, then you have the wrong one. :D AX-15 mounts are pretty cheap compared to BA-10 mounts (if you can even find one).
Yeah, I had a shop quote me like $1200 to fix the AC in my 88 (as much as I paid for the truck). I bought the parts myself (jcw.com I think) and found a shop offering a deal on installation and the 134 changeover and was cruising down the road for a lot less than the original quote. :D
This probably doesn't apply to either of you, but I wanted to include it for anyone that finds this thread in the future.
If the truck stalls when applying the brakes, it could be a vacuum leak in the big vacuum tube running to the brake booster.
Never say never when it comes to Jeeps. You should know that by now Eagle. :D
My 88 dealership brochure shows idiot lights as standard in the Pioneer and has a pic of a disembodied (for lack of a better word) dash with the 3 spoke wheel in front of idiot lights..
Brake lines are done. Shocks are installed. Will take some pics in the morning. Only a few more details in the rear and then I can flip the truck around and start work on the front axle. :D
The last time that happened to me, it was due to the Peugeot blowing a hole right out the passenger side near the rear of the trans. But I had problems with shifting within a couple miles on the freeway and it got progressively worse until I was stuck in 3rd for the last 10 miles. Since you're still driving it... I'm not sure what to make of it. But I would keep looking for a hole. Those dang Peugeots scare me and I seem to always assume the worst. :(
YJ front lines are longer than MJ/XJ lines. Between them and lowering the stock hardlines, you should be good.
Even with 4.5" coils I'd want longer lower control arms.
Totally expected if you had a non-turbo engine. They just can't produce any horsepower. I'm leaning on my experience with the turbo diesel in my Libby and it was never lacking for sustaining power when towing the MJ, only stability (plus it never got old at traffic lights, when everyone and their uncle would pile in to the lane next to me thinking that I'd be the slow one and then I'd rocket off and leave them in my smoke). But it's a decade newer than the 6.5 in a 'Burb. But then it's also less than half the displacement. Seems I may have to take some test drives when the time comes. :D
I don't like to go fast while towing 4500 pounds (in a lot of places I'm limited by law to big truck speeds anyway), but I need it to be more stable than the Liberty. If I go 'Burb, I think I'll look for the 4.10 gears.
I didn't say "no Fords", I said "no Ford 6.0s". That engine has had way too many issues and I'd rather just avoid it. Especially since if I was going ford I could just as easily get the 7.3L.
