  1. You mean for your avatar? email me the fullsize pic and I'll take care of the rest. petermontie@hotmail.com As to the wrangler bumper, I imagine it might work. Depends on the width. I think wranglers are a bit more narrow. A better idea is buying your own steel and making one from scratch. It'll be stronger for sure (and probably cheaper). :D
  2. Diiiissskkkkk brrraaaakkkkeeesssss.... :D

    Would you???

That's an M-715. The biggest and baddest Jeep ever made. And that is one of the rare-ish hardtops. Totally removable of course. :D

    Would you???

    Yes, yes I would.
  5. The blowby in my 4.0 is so bad I had to install a bottle inline in the hose. This was a last-ditch effort (and was installed on the road), but works great. The tube runs in and sticks in a few inches, and then a second tube comes out but doesn't stick in as far. It traps the oil spray in the bottle and then the tube continues on to take the contaminated air to be burned in the engine like it's supposed to.
  6. Whoops. You're right. 4x6s. Looks like I can type faster than I can think. :D

    new jeep...

I agree. There's a better chance of finding a decent shape XJ with that limited of a budget. But some members have found some sweet deals on sweet trucks, so it's still possible.
  8. 5 1/4" in the doors, 3x5" behind the seats. Even the radio was optional, so not every truck came with every speaker.
  9. Be prepared that the auto will suck precious horsepower from the 2.5L. There's a reason why they were a rare option and a reason that the factory trucks came with 4.56 gears.
  10. I call that "broken in". Don't have to worry about getting that first scratch on the trail. :D Come up to Michigan. I'll show you what a trashed truck looks like. Floors missing, rockers toast, bed looks like swiss cheese... :brows: You guys in the no-rust belt are spoiled. 8)
  11. Looks like a great trail rig to me. :brows: Someone even removed the doors for ya. :D
  12. You mean the Grand Cherokee SRT-8? Not big enough and not a Diesel. I'm not saying I wouldn't want one someday :brows: , but it wouldn't make a good hauler for me.
  13. On one hand it's just an ordinary Jeep front axle. There are millions of them out there. We see them every day. But on the other hand, it's probably the best light-duty front axle ever (especially the later models that got the bigger U-joints). Other small rigs got stuck with IFS or low-pinion axles. AMC was kind enough to give us a high-pinion solid front axle. It'll take on 33" tires (if you aren't stupid with the skinny pedal).
  14. Not exactly. But anything with a turbo attached has potential. :brows:
  15. Wait, I lied. My brackets were bent at a shop. But your design can be different. Then I built a clevis mount to go in the hitch.
  16. Build one. Seriously. :D Mine was simple 3x5 rect tube steel (3/16" wall) and I designed and fabbed it with nothing more than an electric die grinder and a drill. Then I took it to a pro to have it welded up proper.
  17. Anyone else having trouble signing in? It won't take my password and it won't recognize my email addy to send me the password. :(
  18. But it also says 80-81 and that's not what you have. That part is for the carbed CJs I believe. Looks sorta like the E-box in my buddy's old bronco with the carbed engine.
  19. I see rear bumpers on their site, but nothing else for MJs or XJs. :dunno:
  20. Some people like Jeepco for instance.... :D
  21. Nothing wrong with using flat leafs for the SOA (as long as they aren't falling apart due to rust). The original leafs I went with pretty much shot (actually, they were very shot), but with the addition of the MJ main AAL, they've held up fine and have given me several years of problem-free wheeling. I'm only replacing them due to rampant rust that is weakening them (don't really want to experience a break on the trail far from home). The replacements are 2wd MJ leafs with an Explorer main as the AAL. I can tell that I've got a couple inches of lift over the old set, but the truck isn't at full ride weight so I'm ignoring it for now.
  22. I'm sure there are some people in this world that would very much like to know where that diesel MJ is. Some of those engine parts can be hard to come by. :brows:
  23. Stupid Lions gotta go and look halfway decent in the pre games. :D But they've done that before and still found a way to bring on the suck in the regular season. :brows:
  24. Yeah, diesels are awesome. :D So after much contemplation during the 24 hours I just spent on the freeway this weekend watching other people's haulers go by the minivan, I've decide that (since I can't do this immediately anyway) my list is: 1-Excursion 2-Suburban 3-F-350 Based on a 10-12 grand purchase price. I've decided that I like having the interior space. Essentially I'd be looking to get a bigger and much badder version of the minivans I'm so used to. Anyone know if the back floor of the Excursions and Subs is relatively flat if I pull out the seats? And how easy to said seats remove? I'm used to minivans and this current gen has seats that disappear right into the floor. No lifting required. :D
  25. I'm just sayin', don't fret too much about how it sits if you're not finished adding weight.
