As long as the bolt doesn't strip, leverage should work. If it strips, then you get to be creative. My bro-in-law's neon had a plug that could have been welded on. In the end we bashed a too-small socket on to it. :D

Mine was about a hundred, but I got it from my neighbor. (yeah yeah, I know. Not much help to ya. :D )

You'd be surprised how hard it is to get the guys to do simple things (for example, taking pictures of the trucks NOT in the driveway). The "who am I talking to" thread is probably as good as it gets. :D

When was the last time the throttle body area was cleaned with TB cleaner and a toothbrush?

That's why I took photos to share. :thumbsup: I'm sure the other guys would be able to point you to some good cages, all I can say is 1.75" DOM is the minimum I would use (my rollbar is 2" DOM, but if I added more, it'd be 1.75) and diagonals are your friends. :D The only thing I regret from the initial install is the lack of a diagonal behind the cab. I left it for phase 2, but phase 2 hasn't happened yet (and it's been a few years now).

All MJs, no matter how nice the exterior or undercarriage, are susceptible to water getting under the carpet (from like a dozen different ways). And once it's there, the rust will follow. :( The rust-free MJ sitting in my parents garage in Georgia was caught just in time.

The explorer is pretty much the only one that works with our trucks. The rest have the wrong wheel bolt pattern or the wrong width.

I absolutely adore my Canon Cyber-shot. Don't know how much they go for these days though. Probably still over your limit. Besides taking phenomenal pictures, the lens does NOT extend out of the camera (I have friends that have had those moving parts fail), the cover slides up and down to genuinely protect the lens, and it takes like 2 seconds to power up to take a shot. :D Most of the photos on my picturetrail site were snapped with this Canon. The gumstick Lithium rechargeable battery lasts a good long time too. ...and I also owned an Elan-7e. Had to part with the old girl to help cover my bills. Was a sad day for sure. :( But I hung on to my lenses. :D Like my Canon 75-300 zoom with the image stabilization. :drool:

No idea what the struts went to. The auto parts store wasn't organized in a way that could tell me that. For all I know it came from a minivan. :dunno: One of the brackets is from the old hood prop and the other is, um, I forget. Probably just something I found in the garage. :D Not the best choice for hardware, but they get the job done and were free.

As often as the general public refers to the 4.0 as a v6, I had to ask and be sure. :D

I designed it myself and paid a local guy to bend and weld it up. The box in the bed is situated to open and clear the bar. Getting into it is pretty easy when standing on the tire. I couldn't fit the box in any other way and still fully open the lid.

The steering parts should be interchangeable. As are the control arms if they are in better shape than yours. But the rear axle from that 98 XJ will need the leaf perches moved to the MJ spot.

See if he can read you the numbers off the tags. What year is this MJ? And rather than killing what I assume is a rust-free MJ, how about swapping your axles under it and selling it whole?

I never had any issues like that. You may need some better tires though if you're leaving skid marks all over the place. I was running the old gen BFG ATs (this was a decade ago after all). Go find a 3.55 axle with the posi in it and be prepared to have a permanent smile. :D And 3.55s isn't enough for 33s. 4.10s minimum. You get the same issue I had with 3.07s and 30s. Not enough gear to match the rolling radius.

Not the same. That's an auto. You need to experience 3.55s with the stick. :thumbsup: I went from 3.07s in a blown 35 to 3.55s in an incredibly overly-priced Dana 44 and it put a smile on my face that lasted for weeks. :D Made me remember what my truck was like with the puny 27" tires (was wearing 30s at the time of the swap).

Pull up your carpet, ASAP! Nice rig. :D

I've got a factory kit too. :D Someday I might get around to installing it in something. :shake:
