  1. Every MJ needs rocker guards. :D
  2. A local shop installed them about a decade ago.
  3. Did you get an alignment yet? And I'd look into some longer LCAs for a 3" lift.
  4. Many states will allow a title to be issued if you have a bill of sale of other documentation to prove ownership. Sometimes it's only a salvage title, but it's still enough to drive it. Double check with your motor vehicles department before you go slicing and dicing such a rare truck.
  5. Ummm, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember either one of those engines having a reputation for power or fuel economy.
  6. Don't forget that most 30" tires are actually closer to 29" tall. :D
  7. That thought has occurred to me more than once. But the roofs were installed back when the truck was 2wd, long before any thoughts of a 4wd conversion. :shake:
  8. It's as if a TJ and a Land Rover had a kid... :hmm:
  9. As if the rules are set in stone or something. :D You might as well put them in the projects forum. As long as they include lots of detail and pictures.
  10. http://www.madxj.com/MADXJ/technical/te ... dSeals.htm
  11. I fire them up and moved them from one side of the parking lot to the other (to keep in accordance with our city's 30 day rule). None gave me any issues (well, no new issues anyway). :D
  12. Some quality black seat covers would likely be the easiest way.
  13. I only buy used tires. You can save a bundle on great performing tires that are lightly used. Check your local craigslist.org
  14. What axles are you planning to run?
  15. What a coincidence, I once traded a 75 dollar 8.8 for a rust free MJ body. I paid about $800 for a 78 Bronco with a trashed body and parted it out for about 2 grand and got free axles in the process.
  16. Were longer control arms part of the lift?
  17. It'd likely take decades to make up the cost of the conversion. :( And yes, your fuel mileage will be a bit lower with bigger tires.
  18. I think it's actually 91+. I'll have to go check out my 90 (when it stops raining).
  19. All I'm saying is, buy another one for this project. Or just buy a 2.5L truck to begin with and save yourself a lot of headache. First rule of engine swaps is: "just because the block is free, doesn't necessarily make it a good choice".
  20. Feel free to start one up. It should probably go in the Pub.
  21. A lot of work. Splicing and fabbing and adapting and yelling. My brain hurts just thinking about it. Or maybe my brain hurts because you're contemplating yanking out a v8 instead of buying a new truck to work with for this project. :hmm: A 2.5L Jeep is dirt cheap these days.
  22. Making it might be tough. It's an overly complicated rotating assembly. It's hard to describe. But any MJ or XJ with the NP-231 t-case (meaning there's no full-time option) will be able to donate their parts. Look into pullapart.com and see how close the nearest location is to you. I know there's one in Norcross and one n Lithonia. Cool junkyards. Worth the trip just to walk around. :D Also, Your truck would have received the BA-10 Peugeot transmission from the factory. Though it's possible that someone swapped in an AX-15 after the Peugeot went belly-up. The AX-5 and AX-15 look very similar, but the AX-5 won't bolt- to the 4.0L.
  23. Where would you put it? The dash is pretty small. :hmm:
  24. I prefer the grease-ables too, but my non-grease-able U-joint from autozone is still going strong. :dunno:
  25. Questions should really go in the Tech forum so more guys will see it.
