always nice to see an MJ earning its keep. :D

the condenser on my 88 leaked when I bought it. eventually i got a replacement from JCW.com and found a coupon from a local business on a R-134 conversion. the coupon covered evacuation and recovery of the (non-existant) R-12 coolant and I just paid them a bit extra to install the new condenser. Convert to R-134 while you can! :thumbsup: it'll be cheaper down the line when the system springs another leak.

how much you lookin' to spend? quality fans aren't exactly cheap. and what brought up thoughts of converting? any heating problems?

The overload leaf on an MJ is huge and very beefy. I just can't understand how a longer perch will work better than that leaf. :dunno: But I haven't seen any hard evidence either way. My experience is that it's the upper 2 leaves that twist and bend like a sonuvagun.

Big Ton/Metric Tonne MJs will have 5 total leaves in the packs. a photo of yours would help to confirm. :thumbsup:

I added a second main leaf to my leaf packs (with the eyes cut off) and have had no real spring wrap issues. Spring perches are stock ford (sorta). Hellcreek makes an AAL that replicates this and comes with the hardware (center bolt and longer leaf clamps). Ford Explorer main leafs can also work (had one in my 90, but it was SUA so I'm not sure how it compares).

Barring any new info, that leads me to believe that the weak link (that the braces support) is the XJ brackets. MJ brackets could never snap off.

Has anyone heard of an RE DB kit failing? I guess I'm not willing to say the RE kit is weak until I hear of one failing. out of curiosity, how much lift did you have on the non-BD RE kit before, when the rubber bushings were failing?

What does the RE brace do? does it strengthen the stock control arm mount? cause MJs won't need that.

I get $1300 bucks as a total. do any of those prices include shipping? Seems like you could get a complete kit from Rubicon express or something for that much dough. :dunno: Maybe even a longarm one. And i concur that stock arms should not be reused if at all possible. At the very least upgrade to stock WJ lowers. :thumbsup:

If you get an np-242 you don't have to worry about running in 4wd on dry pavement. :thumbsup:

don't say anything about the 4x4 swap, just mention the lift. Then we'll see how long it takes for her to notice the extra handle in the cab. :D

Not having the space is a concern, but tagging/insuring my trucks cost less than $100 a year (per truck of course). Bring it by my house and I'll store it for ya. :thumbsup:

I just may do that when I get back in town next week. we've done it before to try and get rid of the Common Word Threshold, but with little success. :dunno:

a 4wd swap can be a great opportunity to gain better gearing by swapping both axles. :thumbsup:

Dunno? You want it? It needs a sending unit and "J" bolts. The one in my 88 has rusted so bad it's empty. :( You still remember how to get to the house? You can have it Pete.
