Pull the inspection cover if you have one and check the flexplate to be sure there are no cracks and the bolts are tight.

The link gives the specs of the alt, but not applications. Don't matter - it's out of alignment causing the belt shredding and needs to spaced forward.

The alt pulley definitely looks out of alignment and it also looks new. Did you recently replace it? If so, where did you get it and what's the p/n?

Si. Same p/n. Even if they don't have speakers the nuts should still be there in the door frame.

Nope, not the same. The grill push nuts are the same ones as used for the license plate though. But those MJ plastic nuts are the same as used for all the other speakers like in the door, so that's a source.

I think if you pulled the manifold then screw the correct stud into the bottom end holes the manifold will then slip on centered and bolt up fine.

It pretty common for manual steering gear to start leaking with time since they are filled with 90 weight gear oil. Yours doesn't look bad. A quick "fix" that normally works is to use a grease gun with a needle fitting to fill it up through the fill plug on top. Or you can use a heated up mixture of mostly grease and gear oil and pack it in to thicken it up. Try this first before replacing if the box is still tight and usable.

The steering and suspension linkage is proportionally the same for both 2WD and 4WD. According to the FSM, there is a height difference between 2WD and 4WD MJs. In spite of that, I think if both outgoing and incoming axles are factory straight and true, there should be no change in alignment specs, theoretically. But how many used 30+ year axles are straight and true?

89 and below MJ D35's were non-c-clip. The Dana 44 backing plate bolt hole spacing was the same as the non-c-clip D35s. I had to get new backing plates when I put in the D44 from TeraFlex because I used Ford Explorer disk brakes. Which axle flange bolt pattern do the ZJ the backing plates use? Never worked with them.

He has a 91, so the D44 axle flange will be a different bolt pattern than the non-c-clip 35s. I went through that mess when I swapped my Explorer disks from a 35 to a 44. Everything else will work with the correct preload spacers. Since they never sold MJs in Oz OME never made rear leafs for them. Bastids. I have all OME stuff on my MJ too with General Spring MT rear leafs. Rides/handles real well, but still would rather have OME springs in the back. Wonder if anything else they made is close. Alcan makes nice springs too.

Dorman #610-449 wheel studs will work fine too Fred. They do make "upgrade" axles for the D35 for ~$100/ea, but IMO it's not worth it. If you find a D44 later to swap the disks over will only require different backing plates, which you will need anyhow since you now have a c-clip D35. Wish OME made rear springs for the MJs. Nick, bet that YJ really rides nicely with them.

Unfortunately, finding decent MJ "frames" that are not rotted out beyond repair isn't easy. Might be more cost effective to build a custom updated frame.

Mine was bumper mounted only. Even thought about adapting one to an MJ. For awhile - a short while.

Probably correct Dirty. I had one on a 96 XJ I got when I lived in Guam. Didn't know if it was factory or aftermarket. I @$$umed it was factory at the time, but it looked a bit different than the one pictured on the 85.
