  1. If someone knocked on my door and introduced them self as as a fanatic I'd slam the door in their face. Or introduce them to Mr. 9mm. Oh, and I like the boost meter much better as your avatar. Seriously, congrats on acquiring the diesel. Enjoyed your trip pics. I haven't been to VB in many years and was surprised to see how much it has built up.
  2. Did Daisy sit on your face Jim?
  3. What happened Sam? The postal lady run it into a rocky ditch at speed?
  4. Speaking vehicles, not aircraft (an entirely different ballgame), the two most important gauges I watch to avoid catastrophic failure are the the oil pressure and temp gauges. The tach and speedo you "feel" rather than watch, and I look at only when I suspect the law might be watching. :D The third gauge I monitor most is the A/F meter that gives the best statement of engine health. A high oil temp is normally immediately followed by a rise of the coolant temp gauge, so I think it's not really needed. I do have an two-pod "A" pillar pod where the A/F meter now resides. In it will soon be either a tranny fluid temp gauge, or a vacuum gauge. Since I don't do all that much towing and I have a tranny oil cooler that works well, I'm leaning toward an old school vacuum gauge. It will compliment the A/F meter nicely.
  5. :agree: LobsterThief, why would you buy a tranny based on a "I was told by" recommendation from a junk yard guy or whoever? He's doing his job, earning his sell commission. Best time for research is before you buy, not after the purchase. Unless you got it free. C'mon man...
  6. Pete, any brake switch from 91 and up will work, column shift or floor shift. Each switch has three sets of contacts; two NC (normally closed) sets of contacts for the auto tranny torque converter unlock and cruise signal, and one NO (normally open) set of contacts for the brake lights. When you depress the brake pedal, the NO contacts close to complete the brake light circuit.
  7. G, you can convert a .pdf to .jpg by opening the .pfd file in Acrobat or Foxit Reader, view it full screen, then do a SHIFT/PRINT SCREEN. Then open your favorite graphics program, like Paint Shop Pro, and paste it in as a new image.
  8. My avatar is an old picture. Gus the Cocker Spaniel quit smoking about three months ago and has been cranky since then. He's now into chasing down and killing any vermin that come in the yard, even more than before. This includes geese and ducks, beavers, snakes, gophers, snapping turtles, and certain people. He hasn't succeeded in taking out any intruding people yet, but he's working on it. Because of his efforts however, he's caused a couple of lawsuits I am dealing with. None of the other vermin have filed a suit; thankful for that. And yes, we do have a good 'Bama football team, unlike the girly Vols north of us. In this regard it's clear to see why you aim low.
  9. That can work too. :D Aye, the magic words "someday when I win the lottery". Ain't likely that will happen for either one of us unfortunately, so we do the best we can with the resources available. Such is life: reality vs. fantasy. :(
  10. Well, good luck to you mate. The present $2K alloy head price I hear from Hesco will be dropping soon. If it drops far enough, I'll jump on it. A dyno tuned Unichip on a stroker is a better (read more economical) way to get those extra ponies than the alloy head at present. When you get your rig finished, let me know. I'll even come up there and we'll see which one is "nicer". Bring your wallet too.
  11. Obviously you've never driven a great running stroker. :D The expression on the ricer turbo drivers with their dual fart cans is priceless. And I was fortunate to get the Hesco crate when they were below $2.8K a few years ago. They are crazy expensive now, but are by far the best. This is very true. But gearing AND a stroker is so much better. :chillin: To the OP. My advice is is to go 4.6L/4.7L max if you ever buy a stroker. The total HP/Torque isn't than much greater in the 4.9, and you still have enough cylinder wall to bore it out again should you need to.
  12. Wild guess. P/o the turbo boost gauge.

  14. Well since Rich won't post them I'll post up a few. :D Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found
  15. Looks good, not like a Christmas tree as most new units do. I don't believe you about Diana Ross though. :ack: :ack: I think you're a big fan Joe. :D
  16. As it does on most every pickup manufactured in the last 20 years be it disks or drums. OP, how about you provide a link from where you gleaned this uh "reference" from Wikipedia.
  17. Yes, the 91 has an ASD relay. It's in the PDC (Power Distribution Center) on the right side of the engine w. all the other relays. First swap it with one of the other relays, they are all the same. If it doesn't help, the test procedure is here: http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=21043&p=216280&hilit=asd#p216280 Also pull the plastic cap off the fuel rail wiring run and check the wiring for obvious (or not so obvious) breaks or bad connections.
  18. Give Jason a call at the web site below. Close to you. There are always 5-10 MJs there. Last time I was there I saw a couple of 2WDs w. the AW4. http://completeautorecyclers.com/
  19. Correct if using the TJ retainer (missed that). If not then the spacers are required.
  20. Carpenter will pitch tomorrow for sure at home. Gotta go with a Redbirds for the Series win. After the momentum gained tonight I can't see any other result. Not happy about a NL win, but not sad either. LaRussa is a better coach than Washington at crunch time due to tons more experience in this kind of situation, even though the Rangers may have better personnel across the board.
  21. Holy crap - what a game. Tied up by the Cards w. one strike remaining from extinction.
  22. The "fool" ump is calling it consistently for both teams mate. That's all you can ask of them.
  23. No choke, just an amazing game. Pressure maximus. EDIT: Hamilton just slammed a two run homer for the Rangers. Remember Yogi's famous "It ain't over till it's over"? This is one hell of a WS possibly final game. I can't remember any better, and I been watching for a long time. Great stuff.
