  1. The Benz OM617 swap to the MJ/XL limited real estate compartment has been done many times, documented well over on the Diesel Bombers forum. We had a forum member who did it a few years ago. I researched it well before I went the stroker route. As far as getting comparable torque/hp numbers from the Benz diesel comparable to the 5.2 economically, forget about it. BUT if I were dedicated to an MJ diesel install, for sure the Benz is the way I would go. Only problem is that the OM617 will keep going long after the MJ body falls apart.
  2. Hell of a game tonight, back and forth with more errors than I've ever seen in a W/S game from both sides. I'm pulling for the Cards tonight only so I can see a game 7. :clapping:
  3. Too bad. It's painless and w/o all the paperwork / privacy invasion BS. I did many years ago and IIRC it was only a one-time thing. maybe it's changed now. :dunno:

    Bed Swaps

Nope, the axle is too far back. That could be fixed. It looks okay, but if the bed on an MJ is to be a stepside, the dually conversion looks better IMHO.
  5. Assume you don't qualify for a VA mortgage?

  7. Well, here we go again finally. Rangers jumpin out early. Hope it doesn't snow before it's over tonight.
  8. You'll also need a pair of preload spacers on the D44 (or non c-clip D35). The spacer is required because the ZJ backing plate is not the same thickness as the drum brake backing plate. So to make up the difference and keep the axle seals' preload correct the spacers are required. Otherwise it's leak city. The dimensions for me were .225" thick x by 2.90" OD x 2.45 ID. But you should do your own measurements to be certain. Your favorite local machine shop can fab them up or you can get them from Teraflex for about $6/ea.
  9. Check the hard plastic vacuum line where it goes through the front bulkhead to the vacuum reservoir, right side under the battery. They all break there sooner or later.
  10. I don't know about "sage" advice Joe but I have fought this battle a few times. First, manually ground the contact wire tip inside the spring with a screwdriver to make sure your horn actually works. Then make sure the round concave spring plate that is sandwiched between the insulators is shiny and clean where the wire contact touches. This plate is what completes the ground circuit to the ground wire inside the spring and plastic holder. Also the concave side on the plate must face outward toward the driver.
  11. It is a replacement for the existing external regulator. Yeah, I can see that. Why do you think alternators are regulated? So they don't fry trying to pump out more amps than they are capable of. I think installing this kit would be an unwise thing to do. And AFAIK, early Delco alts used in Renix era Jeeps did not have the dual brushes.
  12. This won't work on a Renix since the alt isn't controlled by the ECU. It has an external regulator. OP, you need to shop for the Delco CS-130 100A alt. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1987-1990-Alternator-Jeep-Cherokee-Comanche-Wagoneer-/310319553282?hash=item48407c9b02&item=310319553282&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr
  13. Nope, not with Carpenter up tonight for the Redbirds. But I do think that tonight will be their last win in the Series. I'm not a Rangers fan, but I always go with the AL team in the series. Even if it's the Yanks. :fs1: Wrong again thanks to Pujols calling an unauthorized unsuccessful steal then swinging at a wild pitch way out of the strike zone causing two outs in the ninth. This guy is either great or terrible. Rangers win the series now for sure. The Rangers MVP is Senor Albert Pujols.
  14. And it was overpriced. :D (Just kidding) What that loaded 91 MJ Eliminator sticker shows is that MJs obviously did not hold their value. The BIG $$ option was the Eliminator "Decor" group, cosmetics basically, for a whopping $3452. With the Big Ton package if offered for the HO years, or the D44 and towing suspension options, and the power window/mirror/seat options, an Eliminator could be well over $20K. What's that in today's dollars, $35 K or so? Damn, no wonder they stopped MJ production shortly thereafter. Of course, this was one of t methods of paving the way for the Dakota.

  16. Putting it another way, if the Flowmaster has a 2.25 inlet and outlet, your 2.25 pipes fit it w/o adaptation.
  17. PM sent.
  18. This is the original sales sticker from new member Rich (User Rich from Pensacola) who recently purchased a pristine 91 Eliminator. That was a lot of $$ back in 1991. EPA Mileage guesstimates seem about right though.
  19. https://www.mopargenuineparts.com, p/n 33002709, $148.84
  20. Buy a new one from the dealer of course. Plenty of OEM originals still available, about $140.
  21. Thank your bro for showing you where the problem is.
  22. The Rangers just had to get that bad game out of their systems. They will be rockin and rollin from here on out.
  23. I think you'll be happy after this slaughter.
  24. :D Figured that would wake you up Jay. Maybe you and I are the only ones watching here. Great series so far.
  25. The Redbirds be kicking some serious Texas butt tonight. Nolan is hot.
