  1. Just swap the input shaft assembly. http://www.nagca.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45337&highlight=shaft+input+249 http://www.nagca.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45403&highlight=shaft+input+249
  2. I was glad to see that. At first glance I thought you used copper tubing for the lines. That's good stuff, nickle/copper tubing. Should last forever.
  3. :agree: Excellent point, it is a poor mounting point. This ground point is where the dash volt meter senses it's ground, at least on the HOs. After replacing the alt with a 134A unit and upgrading the mains cables, the VM always showed a slightly negative indication under full load, H4 headlamps, fog lamps, full blower, A/C, etc. no matter what the RPM was. I ran an additional 10AWG wire from the screw to the chassis ground on the PDC and all was well.
  4. Excellent writeup! Especially on the Wilwood proportioning valve. I know now what I will do now when my stock load sensing valve gives it up. Move to the DIY forum?
  5. Don't think this is a problem. To lock/unlock the torque converter the OBDI AW4 TCU uses the signal from the electro-mechanical speed sensor in the tailshaft housing (2WD) or T-case adapter housing (4WD), same as the Renix AW4s, same part number even. Not sure about the 96 OBDII TCU/ECU integration. They do use the same tranny speed sensor as the older models however. IIRC, the control electronics in the AW4s are all the same; it doesn't care if signals to the four solenoids come from a separate TCU or from a TCU/ECU if the appropriate vehicle wiring harness is used.
  6. 91-95 OBDI models all had separate stand-alone TCUs and will interchange throughout the OBDI years even though they have different part numbers. You can use the 96 AW4 in your 89 IF your existing wiring harness has the TCU connector wired-in to the existing harness. I'm not sure if it is. Look up under the lower dash, right side, and see if there is a 26-pin rectangular connector hanging there.
  7. Yes, it's a good idea. It would help out the stroker in the summer. Unfortunately the one they make for the 91 and up HOs looks like they used stove pipe. :ack: I'm going to pickup one of their inline filters and make my own since I do have more real estate to work with under the cowl hood. :D http://www.spectreperformance.com/#CATALOG.9948

  9. Why should you be concerned about haters? Gotta do what you gotta do. Looks fine to me. Just happy I never have to plow.
  10. Here's a cold air intake specifically made for the Renix XJs/MJs: http://www.spectreperformance.com/#CATALOG.9945

    Fishun's Good

Nice fish - look like Silvers? No salmon of any kind here. Would love to catch some one day.
  12. This is true. Late 80's - early 90s XJ/MJ D44s used a shim washer(s), not a pinion crush sleeve as like the D35 c-clip. When I did mine the old and new pinion yokes came off pretty easily, just needed some light tapping initially. And I do have a slight whine between 35-55 MPH under acceleration only. I had this though before the yoke/seal change. Been told it could be caused by aftermarket (Yukon) gears and/or sometimes the "thick" R&P gears I used sometimes do this. May be BS, I don't know for sure.
  13. :agree: To me that's the easiest way - remove the coil 12V supply.
  14. You sure can Jim, as long as you let me fly your Stearman.
  15. Finally started the the MZ Silver Star cafe racer project a couple of months ago. Awaiting a new AJS all-alloy tank from the UK, but it's coming along. The Rotax thumper single engine has been punched out from 500cc to 604cc, runs great. Need to finish up the wiring then decide on the paint scheme. Am leaning toward lots of brightwork and a metallic silver (same color as my MJ) with red piping paint scheme with a natural polish/clearcoat on the alloy tank.
  16. I'd like to find a resource like that too. Never have found it either. BUT if you're asking will a 2003 TJ power steering pump will fit your 92 with the new manifold & bracketry, the answer is yes. I have a 2004 pump on mine.
  17. That would be the 93-98 ZJs, all models.
  18. :agree: Had mine installed in 03 and still working fine w. no issues. But it's kind of useless now with the camper shell installed. :(
  19. From the 86-90 Parts Manual:
  20. Which pump did you go with Ben?
  21. That's up to you. Changing the column MF switch for me was easiler than swapping the whole steering column - cheaper too. If your column is in good shape I'd keep it. The MJ columns are Saginaw GM, and there are many writeups for changing the switch.
  22. You will need more than that. If your truck came w. non-delay wipers you will also need to change out the multifunction switch/harness inside the column as delay wipers require one more contact/wire to through delay box. The harness is included with a new multifunction switch. Be advised the MF switches for tilt and non-tilt columns are different. Changing the MF switch requires going deep into the steering column. For cruise, you will also need the cruise cable that connects to the throttle body. If you are getting the cruise parts from a donor, don't forget that. It's all plug and play for cruise. The cruise wire from the multifunction switch plugs into an existing one-of-a-kind yellow connector up under the dash.
  23. That's probably more dealer availability than most of the other Renix-specific sensors. Just a matter of time until the junkyard is the only source, if they're not all crushed sooner............
