Yes, every small amount can help...that is not what I meant. What I am trying to say is unless the general public changes the way they utilize thier vehicles just saving 3 MPG per car now isn't going to make that big of a dent. You can achieve that extra fuel economy by simply changing you driving habits.

Yep. Sure. Within two weeks the CFC program has created a short supply? There will, be but this is BS crap where someone is cashing in on the govm't getting involved in supply and demand, which will always screw it up, and brings out those who will do all they can to screw us, like getting hundreds of dollars for a toilet seat. Exactly my point. The knee jerk reaction that is being prolmagated by the idiots who wrote this bill have gone far beyond reason. Destroying engines is not going to make folks stop using gas, changing thier way of thinking about transportation will. And, selling another 50,000 cars will not save the automobile industry from thier mismanagement. As much as I hated the higher prices of fuel, it sure caused folks to use less of it. With this new program allowing the purchase of a car estimated at 20 MPG instead of 17 MPG has saved......3 MPG? Whoo Hoo! that'll make me combine my trips to save more fuel!

I'm with Bob on this one...Not only do we have to watch fools in action destroying engines that good parts could be taken from, but as taxpayers we have to pay for this crap? And, the repo man will be very busy in a short while, because if they didn't have the money for it before, how will they have the money for it now? P.S.: If you need a rebuilt head for Renix, it just got $175.00 higher due to 'lack of adequate supply'. Just look on Ebay...

Christ - that 1st video made me wanna puke. After that, I'd like to go find that sh!tbag and kick his a$$ for laughing about it. Or wait...lemme shove that funnel up his a$$ and pour some of his 'death juice' in it.

I was not gonna get into this mess (because I believe these things should be handled behind the scenes), but since Pat mentioned the transaction that he and I were unable to work out, let me say that he did remain in touch with me and unfortunately due to circumstances beyond both our control we had to cancel the transaction. BUT - he didn't try to run on me, and for that I feel he deserves a chance to work out without all the extra comments. If that can't happen then like Shelby says...its up to Pete to make the decision. Jake

I didn't know you were a fire dog Rob....come to think of it, the fire dogs here got a good laugh outa me several months ago: There was an F150 that had a known (according to the redneck driver) fuel leak on the manifold that suddenly became a fire  . I responded for traffic control (as it was in my zone), and the fire jokers were already there. The truck was totally involved, and as I approached the Capt. (an old drinking buddy) motioned me over to the other side of the burning truck. As I passed the damn tires blew and, (thinking the redneck had his rifle in the cab and the rounds were going off) I hit the dirt. They could've pissed on the fire to put it out they were laughing so hard.

ignition switch installation on a 89 comanche ?
Akula69 replied to boman40's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm not sure I understand your problem, but: If it is the ignition rod that extends down the steering column that is not functioning, there are two (most common) reasons (1) If you lowered the column to replace the ignition switch and now the key rod won't move - it's pinned inside the column mount. There is a special place for it to sitso it can slide. (2) If the rod will move freely by hand but will not actuate the sliding portion of the ignition switch you have the rod bracket mounted over the bracket for the headlight high beam switch bracket, it should be under it. If the rod moves when you turn the key it is probably not disconnected, but if you did it simply 'pops' into a receiver under the column shroud with slight pressure. If you remove the knee bolster and drop the column slightly and look in there you can see the union. WARNING: do not force the column down too far as the firewall bolts will pop free (the firewall metal where they fasten is quite thin). Get back to me after you check thse things. If you want you can PM me on it. -
We had the same problem when we bought our MJ....in fact the old owner complained about it. I found that it was caused by the engine block ground being loose at the block...when the engine heated up it expanded the bolt hole allowing it to lose contact.

Oil leaking near distributor...
Akula69 replied to Redbird's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
IMHO, the distributor is not a 'normal' place for the 4.0 to leak (if I can say such a thing). I would suggest that the small 'O' ring on the shaft is leaking....could it have been nicked when it was being installed? -
Thanks!

Ok - I'm having a brain fart here...... the A/C lines from the compressor to the evaporator (and back) I know them as 'high pressure side' and 'low pressure side'. which one is the suction line (the high or low side)? Thanks

If the tailgate is truly rust free $50.00 is a smokin price. $37.00 each for the doors ($75.00 total) is kinda high as you can get XJ doors a dime-a-dozen, unless you need the interior parts.

Have you ever heard that song "Shine on (you crazy diamond)" by Pink Floyd? When I see this thing thats what it reminds me of....Brite and shiny! (Looks great Don)

:agree: But remember that the two stage stuff is kinda rough on your lungs, and inless you intend to punch out kids with 8 toes later in life you need a good mask. ****also**** you probably need to use a good epoxy sealer under the color coat to seal in the old paint (avoids all sorts of nasty problems later on) but be daymn sure you have the color coat mixed and waiting as you can only let the epoxy sealer 'flash' dry for about 15 minutes or the final finish will peel later (ask me how I know :headpop: )

Looks great.

:agree: The man knows his wiggles

Like CW and Wahoo I went with the Monroe Sensatracs in all corners. I have nothing but good things to say about them...threw a set on the XJ as well.
