You can put 6.5" speakers in the doors. You just have to drill some new mounting holes. I put some 4x6 Alpine speakers in the pillars. I don't think they make these speakers anymore though.

All Metric Tons were longbeds. So unless someone swapped them in, then no, not likely. It should be a straightforward swap for you.

Definitely not a Forward Control. My buddy has an FC-170, and it looks nothing like that.

Aftermarket Seats in an Mj

Damn. I'm 6' 175 lbs and it's hard for me to get into the Mastercraft seat. -
Hey, Vegas is my MJ's hometown. Have fun. And remember, "What happens in Vegas..."

Aftermarket Seats in an Mj
johnnyc replied to DansGreyMj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have a driver side Mastercraft Baja RS seat in my MJ. My buddy just made it work with his welder and some angle iron. On the first attempt, the rear of the seat was sitting a little high because of the way the MJ sliders are. Then he took the sliders off and cut some metal so that the seat would sit flat. Corbeau actually has adapters specifically for the MJ. But they are a little pricey. -
The dash lights and tail lights are on the same circuit. Check the fuse under the dash. IIRC, it's a blue 15 amp fuse.

Thanks Sir Sam. I got three HF stores within 15 minutes from home.

Wow, I got my first set of 97+ doors for $22.50 each at the yard. Then the ones that are now on my MJ were $50 each.

Interesting thing about the OX is how you can now get an electric actuator or an air actuator. I haven't heard of anyone retrofitting these on an existing OX locker though. It would be interesting to see how they work. I'm running a front No-Slip and a rear Detroit in my daily driver. No driveability issues and no unusual tire wear.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the PORC SYE kit. It is virtually identical to the AA kit. I've run one in my XJ for many years with no problems. I just recently put the t-case in the MJ and got a custom-made driveshaft from J.E. Reel.

You're more than welcome for the coils and spacers. They were just taking up garage space. Is the truck sitting level from front to back? It looked pretty level before you lifted the front. There was a Dana 44 on a Metric Ton MJ out at the junkyard on Millikan Ave. in Ontario. Probably won't have the gears you want though. And I have some swaybar links off my 92, if you want them.

Looks good Bo!

Took the MJ wheeling for the first time this weekend. It did really well. No issues at all. Then last night, a few of us decided to do a night run. I was on a real off camber spot and was on the verge of flopping, according to someone behind me. I was in a hurry to back up a little and didn't see that the XJ behind me was right there. I backed right into his bumper and dented my tailgate up pretty good. He felt really bad about it, but hey, s*** happens. He kept saying that he would get me a new tailgate. I told him not to worry about it. On my way home today, I stopped by a junkyard just to see what there might be. In the last row of trucks, the last truck was a beat up gray MJ...with a perfect tailgate. $40 later and I'm a happy camper. How lucky is that?

I have some V8 ZJ coil springs and 1.5 inch spacers that you can have for nothing...since you're a local CC member. I got all my suspension parts from Amazon. Even cheaper than Rockauto when you factor in Amazon's free shipping.

There are a few around here. But most of them are driven by Hispanic gardeners.

It was for a 92. It's one of my bookmarks. :D viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1036&hilit=sales+brochure

In the past few days - Changed the gear oil in the D30 and added a SOLID diff cover Changed the rear shocks for some longer ones Snapped off an upper shock mount in the process Ordered and received some frame spacers from C-Rok Ordered a bed tool box Installed a 97 center console (real cupholders  ) Swapped out a bad distributor To do list for this weekend - Install C-Rok, winch bumper, and winch Install longer front brake lines Have friend re-do the spring perches to improve pinion angle and fix the shock mount Install the tool box (hope it gets here by then) Buy new CB antenna and install radio Shakedown run is Saturday, May 2 in Big Bear. First big test is the Rubicon Trail June 18.

Just snapped off one of the upper rear shock studs. What have you guys done to fix this? I'm thinking some sort of plate with a bolt, welded to the frame.
-
Yeah, I figured that out afterwards. But why are they chitchatting in my thread?? Just joking, of course.
-
I just sold the D44 from my 92 MJ with 3.55 gears, limited slip, and a SOLID diff cover for $300.

Thanks guys. I think it will be painted white. I'm a volunteer with the local Sheriffs Search and Rescue team. I'm hoping to be able to use the truck on some missions. And white seems to be the preferred color. Gotta do a little bit of bodywork first. I also need to get the bed sprayed. I've been working on the mechanical stuff lately. I'm getting the truck ready for a SoCal NAXJA event in Big Bear in a couple of weeks. That'll be a shakedown run before our Rubicon trip in June. I think "stock" has pretty much been thrown out the window. :)

Yeah Mike, come on down again. There are more than just us two in California. ;) Gogetemturbo is also in the OC and summerinmaine is in Del Mar, just to name two.
-
Hey Mike. Congratulations to you and Cheryl on the addition to your family. :D

It's not. It's gonna be my mall crawler. ;) Got my SYE'd 231 and J.E. Reel driveshaft swapped in today. Also put in my MORE motor mounts (totally shot) and a tranny mount. Yesterday, I got my custom rails from OTR Fabwerks mounted on as well.
