odd rear suspension setup
WyoCherokee replied to INjake89mj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I am guessing it had a camper on it at some point judging by the rear overloads and the add on rear sway bar. The blue bar under the oil panappears to be a front frame stiffener. The rear shocks don't really appear to be doing much at that angle. Maybe they were setting it up for drag racing? -
Invest in a set of Tire chains. that would be your cheapest option. Since you do not live in a snowy climate, the installation of studs will do more harm than good. That way if you carry a set of chains, you can keep them forever, through multiple sets of tires.
-
Mud Tires and Snow do not mix. Your rear tru-trac shouldnt be that much of a nousance, however if you only ran it in 2wd with the lim slip, on a slick surface it will act almost like a sled. If both tires cannot get proper traction(ice and mud tires), then the whole rear end will slide until 1 tire gains traction enough to transfer tourque to that wheel. and if you say you were in 2wd, your front autolocker will not have made any impact. Tire pressure also plays a huge roll in snow/ice traction. Some shops do still sipe tires. But i would invest in a set of good chains if you intend to keep the tires. I have had great luck with the Cooper STT MAXX in snow/ice conditions without comprising mud/sand/rock performance.

Got my headlight relay harness in last night. Bought it from a member over on Cherokeeforum. This version is much better than the Putco i had on my XJ. Just ordered my H4 housings and 55/60 bulbs. can't wait to get rid of these Junk HID things that pass for headlights!- 132 replies

Krustyballer Fabrications
WyoCherokee replied to shelbyluvv's topic in Vendors- members making products for MJs
It has been extremely cold here and I haven't wanted to heat the shop.Plus I'm waiting to get the bedsides bent at work on the press brake. The flares will be close to the hooligan flares but not quite. I don't think...haven't been able to do any actual tubing bending. The hooligan front flares go about 2 inches lower on the body than mine will. They'll be about the same as the xj rears. And I'm still trying to figure out nutserts for mounting them. The bottom quarter panel armor is almost figured out though... Same Here. -38 on saturday and never got above 0 for the last 4 days. The whole bedside would be good, but spendy to ship i would think. I'm thinking almost just a half bed from the fuel filler rearwards.Good thing I planned ahead for half sides and had a line laser etched on it and bolt holes for mounting a half [emoji6].....FYI, i will be placing an order for SWB sliders pretty soon.- 197 replies

That time of year - What are you getting your MJ for Christmas?
WyoCherokee replied to DirtyComanche's topic in The Pub
I got it a WJ Booster and MC! -
In need of a harness for the tail lights. Just the pig tails for the bulb sockets. the wires are broke right at the connector, and no way to crimp them. If i could just get a whole harness with 4 to 5" of wire to crimp or just the reverse bulb sockets with 4 to 5 inches of wire to solder/crimp that would be great!

nice! What lift and size tires? :D havent gotten the tape measure out yet, but i would guess about 4" and 31's

Project Patience....a 90 Eliminator trail build
WyoCherokee replied to WyoCherokee's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Spent all last night digging in to my no brake lights. Turns out, the wires going into the hazard/brake flasher slots on the fuse block are so loose, that it cannot make a clean connection. As soon as i wiggled the connections, i had working brake lights. So for the mean time, i thin i am going to remove those spades and crimp on blade connectors to plug in the flasher to and let it hang. That should get me by till this summer when i can pull a fuse block from a JY and spend a day soldering connections.- 132 replies

Project Patience....a 90 Eliminator trail build
WyoCherokee replied to WyoCherokee's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
well, got in to some wiring..cleaned up all of the PO's twisted and e-taped connections and heat shrinked them for now until i can build proper harnesses. Replaced the flasher switch to repair my turn signals. Still chasing no brake lights or reverse lights. I have power going in to the brake switch, but non out the other side. WIll just replace the switch for good measure as its on $9. No reverse lights has me thinking bad or dirty connection on the reverse sensor in the tranny. Would prefer to have them working, but i can always wire in some extra reverse lights on a switch. Found a couple coolant leaks and a PS leak.- 132 replies

Well its good to be back in an MJ. MY previous account would not let me back in (19674x4) I used to have a 88 2wd Sporttruck. Sold it to find a new truck. Here recently i had a 99 XJ that i built up extensively Link here: http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f46/project-blueberry-211258/ Just traded the XJ for a 90 Eliminator...will continue with the build thread as more things come up. I spend most of my time over on Cherokee Forum, so check there for most up to date build progress. Here is my MJ build thread: http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f46/project-patience-90-mj-dd-trail-sleeper-231553/
