  1. The suspension on that XJ really needs to be redesigned by somebody who knows what they are doing. A radius arm suspension needs bushings to relieve the binding. All I see are tractor joints. Radius arms + tractor joints - bushings = something is going to break. Willy
  2. Are those D rings just for looks? I wouldn't trust them to much of a pull. Especially if the revised bumper brackets aren't attached to anything more than the originals. Willy
  3. I don't think your going to find anything better that their installation instructions. Although those are the XJ instructions, for the front, the MJ install will almost be exactly the same besides removing the extra lower control arm supports and possibly some interference with one of the body supports. Willy

  6. :agree: Your's is the way to go for both form and function. The bulky, non-functional headache racks are pretty obnoxious. I'd like to see pictures of how you tied everything together and your clearance between the bed and cab if you don't mind. I'm really contemplating doing something similar after seeing what you did. Thanks, Willy
  7. Thank you everybody! The next big update is going to be a while. It is going to include bobbing the bed, a cage, and some type of bed sliders to fend off the trees. There is no timeframe at this point because we have a couple of home projects that need to be completed before I start work on this - plus maybe a little work on my Scout project. Thanks, Willy
  8. Good job. Willy
  9. Does your b-hoop run between the cab and the bed? Got any pics of this area from underneath of how you tied it together? Thanks, Willy
  10. The first time you posted those AT's , I could have swore they where BFG AT's . The tread pattern was almost a perfect match . The tread is a perfect match because it is the tread pattern for BFG ATs. Willy

You’re not famous, although your truck may be. I've been on the “TV” hundreds of times, and I can assure you that I’m still not “famous.” That was entirely filled with sarcasm. None of that was meant to be taken seriously. Willy

I'm famous! Thank you everybody. I promise not to forget all the little people I have stepped on on my way to the top. Willy
  13. A little late on this update, but Saturday we went on what was supposed to be the County Line Off Roader's 2nd annual snow poker run. This year the snow did not cooperate. Luckily the poker run ends at the Elbe Hills ORV park. After confirming that our best hand of a pair of jacks wasn't good enough for any prizes, it was time for some real wheeling. Some excitement to end the day. More pics here. Willy
  14. I think it makes gear and locker installation much easier. No need to worry about shims or set up bearings. There really is no need for any special tools. A hammer and punch can easily be used to adjust the collars. Willy
  15. That's a Chrysler 8.25, not a Ford 8.8. Both the XJ 8.25 and the Explorer 8.8 are much more common than an XJ/MJ D44. Willy
  16. trans, torque converter, bellhousing, flexplate, trans wiring harness, engine bay harness, engine computer, transmission computer, automatic TPS. tranny mounts, brake pedal assembly. I think that's about it. the ECU, engine harness, TCU, flexplate, and torque converter all need to be specific to either high output or renix, depending on the vehicle they're going in. Unless you are swapping in a later transmission (I think the change was in '97 - in which case it will be a lot more than just a transmission swap) the ECU does NOT need to be changed. The ECU and TCU are completely separate and not specific to the transmission. There is no communication between the ECU and TCU. Willy
  17. Yes you can. Follow these instructions. Willy
  18. Was the guy doing donuts in the median when it broke down? :hmm: It looks like the drag link is about to fold. Willy
  19. Ummm.....no it's not. It has become this year. Several local municipalities started using salt this year because of all the morons that couldn't drive in the snow last year. :shake: Willy
  20. what about a dodge power wagon? Not available from the factory as a diesel. Willy Nor does it seat 7. I want a minivan on steroids. :D

  22. Did a little snow wheeling for our club's Christmas tree run (even though nobody picked up a tree). We almost made it to Lonesome Lake before everybody but Don pretty much lost all forward momentum. The snow was pretty odd. There was a crust that covered some very dry powder that provided almost no traction. The crust was too weak to stay on top of and the powder did not compact at all. The weather was pretty nice. Cold but not windy and the sun was out off and on through some thin clouds all day. The clouds were so high that Mt. Rainier was actually free of them. We were pretty much stuck here. We broke through the ruts and the more we backed up the further we went towards the ditch. More pics here. Willy
